^^ yeah, i just didn't recall her torturing, and specifically electrocuting him until a little bit ago. Figured some others may not recall either. before remembering that, i was just going with "sayid doesn't seem like his typical badass self right now." as opposed to have an actual precedent to compare it to.

anyone remember back to the season 1 ep with the skeletons in the cave and the black and white stones? i feel like i saw the stone bag in last night's ep, anyone else remember that?

are we still assuming the storyline to mirror 'the stand', or 'watership down', or have the producers addressed that lately?

I'm intrigued on the whole Ethan thing and what hints they are dropping about how the 2 parallel realities are going to tie together.

i enjoyed it, because the worst LOST episodes are typically much better than the best episodes of any other tv show. minus, of course, "Stranger in a Strange Land". god, what an awful episode.

also, i'm just happy to have LOST back on again.

So everybody knows Ethan Rom is an anagram for 'Other Man', but I just ran Ethan Goodspeed through an anagram generator, and got the phrase 'Pees on Hated Dog'.

So I guess we know what happened to Vincent in the other timeline.

I didn't really mind the episode at all. I think it reestablishes a few bits of the arc (such as where is claire, what is going on with the others at the temple, etc...).

When Dogen blows the ash over Sayid's body I wonder if that is the same ash as what they spread to stop the smoke monster.

almost all my questions from the early seasons have been asnwered. I just want to know what was going on at the temple beforehand and why the other other leaders always lived outside the temple.

Hated this episode because
-Kate, a murderer on the lam, decides to drive around in the same car with the same clothes on all day for the sake of this girl with a baby bag. She doesn't even get caught when the police cruise by.
-Claire should have run away screaming the moment Kate came back in the cab
-That garage guy is way too chill about a hand-cuffed murderer pointing a gun at him
-For the umteenth time, Kate's internal "Jack/Sawyer" switch is flipped. Two real human males would be completely DONE with her bullshit by now.
-The whole secrecy attitude from the Others has completely stopped making sense. "Lets be completely vague and misleading about something, even though we know you're going to find out the truth on your own in a few minutes. We would hate for you to actually start trusting us, even though your cooperation is essential."

I just have this sinking feeling that the series is going to end without accounting for the countless unexplained plot phenomena. We'll find out the "nature" of the island and it's inhabitants, but so many little details will be left out.

They are low on the totem and want to withhold information from kate and jin just as dogen witholds information from them. Pretty natural.

In the flash sideways, I'm thinking theyre trying to show how all of the losties still share a connection and will ultimately end up back on the island. This explains how Kate felt emotions for Aaron by seeing the stuff that was for him and even after being kidnapped at gunpoint Claire still felt comfort from Kate's presence and blurted out the name Aaron.

There's no point lying to people who are "low on the totem pole" if you know that they are just going to find out the truth in minutes and lying is just going to make things harder.

"Jack, we "diagnosed" your friend because we think he is "afflicted". Here, take this "medicine" that only works if he takes it willingly. No, we're not going to tell you what's going on with Sayid, even though you would most likely cooperate fully if we did; even though you're going to know exactly whats going on as soon as you give him the medicine. We would rather you be confused for 5 more minutes, and run the risk of you doing things like attempting escape, killing guards, trying the medicine on yourself, etc."

It's called suspense and (melo)drama

It's no fun for the viewer if they just tell you everything up front

dont know if thats possible since the island is underwater now. maybe it'll move again.

I was re-watching the episode last night and noticed how much "filler" the producers throw into the episodes. Like the whole story with Sawyer and Kate couldve been condensed into 3 minutes of airtime, not 10+ minutes like they did.

I know thats how tv shows (especially Lost) have been operating for a long time, but I guess I am holding this season to a higher standard since there are so many questions left to be answered and only a limited amount of time to answer them. Like what all did we learn last episode? Claire is the new Rousseau, Kate and Claire interact in the alt. timeline, and Sayid has a "darkness" inside him. Looks like one answered question (if Claire still alive on the island), one "who gives a fuck" fact, and a batch of new questions (what affect does the darkness have on Claire, where has Claire been, was she time-traveling also, how is the darkness going to affect Sayid, etc. etc. etc.)

There are so many bigger questions that need to be answered, I would think that they would have a season's worth of episodes lined up just to answer and explain the big questions. Not this piddly shit

The whole movie was based on the old woman rose in a ship as they used a robot sub to explore the ship at the bottom of the sea. They might all end up together and then Desmond fnds them and gets them to take whidmores ship out there so they can go scuba diving down to the orchid.

no breaks until mid-April. Then it goes off for like 5-6 weeks before the finale at the end of May.

According to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/episodes (spoilers!!!), episode 12 airs 4/13

There are 5-6 weeks of new episodes after that

Can't imagine there's a break (especially not an extended one)

I got it from here:

http://lost.about.com/library/calendar/bl_calendar.htm

Basically the same as what you have, but I guess they didn't list the untitled episodes. I didn't think there would be a break, so I was a little surprised to see that. But it wouldn't surprise me considering past seasons. But now that i think about it, i'm pretty sure it was said that there would be 16 or so episodes each of the last 2 seasons.

Neither of the past two seasons had extended breaks

That's the reason the moved the season start back to January

they moved it up to avoid that yes, but last season and this season are also shorter than normal... typical season is like 25 episodes.

i think you're right as far as there not being a break. but they have a precedent for ridiculous breaks and they (NBC) would want the finale on during sweeps regardless of where the run would actually take them.

yeah, ABC big deal. "the network" --- how's that? or what's more relevant, the people who want to make a shit-ton of money will be damn sure that the finale to their biggest series in a very long time will air during sweeps.

it is kinda funny though. and to be honest, if it weren't for the fact that i watch in on dvr after it's been recording for 20 minutes or so... it would take me a minute or two to figure out exactly what channel it's on.

Does LOST still come on right after "How I met your Mother" and before "24"? Or is it like last season where they moved it back and it aired right after "30 Rock"?

You think the Dogan name is a Dark Tower reference? The writers did site it and the Stand as major influences way back in season 1... which makes a lot more sense now than it did then.

I was in the process finishing up Wolves of the Calla for the second time when that episode aired. I thought about it for a bit, but I kind of dismissed the idea after seeing the spelling (Dogen) of his name in this thread and in Lostpedia.

However, on the other hand, all differences in spelling aside, I would indeed change my mind if it turns out that Dogen is somehow in league with Smokey.

Have we seen anything in past seasons to give us an idea of who it was that broke the ash circle around the cabin?
