POOR MAN'S PAT WHITE 4/24/2010 3:03:53 AM |

I went back and watched Clausen's interview with Gruden in his QB Camp (all of them are on youtube) and he really seemed like a douchebag who just wanted to say the right thing and not really pay attention
I then watched the same videos for Tebow, McCoy and Bradford, and all three of them seemed to have better football knowledge and be more mature individuals than Clausen and more passionate about football.
I then re-watched Clausen's interview, and the 2nd time, he seemed like less of a douche and more a laid back person, seemed like he might be generally dumb but that he could be "football smart", and troubling as it sounds, kind of reminds me of delhomme
but you cant hate on his physical tools until we see him actually play 4/24/2010 3:17:25 AM |

Why would you have assumed that? If he was taller he wouldn't have played at App, and wouldn't have been projected as a mid round pick.4/24/2010 3:30:48 AM |

In fairness, he was recruited by some good D1-A schools...to play WR...but went to App cause he wanted to play QB4/24/2010 3:42:43 AM |

My first reaction to the Clausen pick was to punch a hole through a wall. But 10 minutes later, I realized we got a franchise QB in the 2nd round without giving anything away.
My first reaction to the Edwards pick was to laugh and say, oh well, maybe he'll make a good Wildcat QB. 10 minutes later, I hated the pick with a passion.
And after reading more about LaFell from LSU, I'm loving that pick. I guess 2 outta 3 ain't bad...

I'd prefer Mardy Gilyard over Armanti Edwards. Gilyard's more polished as far as being a WR and KR. 4/24/2010 10:09:52 AM |

i cant believe clausen fell to us, lafell will be a good one, and well, i'll give armanti the benefit of the doubt for now. we'll have plenty of time to judge him when he actually plays.
though i am not looking forward to the idiot panther fans that also are app st fans and will want Armanti starting at QB 4/24/2010 10:12:16 AM |

oh, it probably was a bad move, but if armanti turns out being able to be a beast in the slot then it won't matter
you lose your second rounder next year, but you get that pick a year earlier. so if armanti actually gets on the field and produces all will be forgotten.
hope we get another steve smith story 4/24/2010 10:33:32 AM |

can't win them all
maybe they know something we don't. shit, he's got to be better than kenny moore right?
i mean, you would be okay now if we gave up a first for steve smith right? not saying that's whats going to happen with armanti, but there's a chance he's a good player.

well, i am. for one, the prick shows up to ND in a goddamned limo. but mainly, I'm sick of people talking about him having so much experience in a pro-style offense. great, but he was playing in that offense against shit teams. Whoopdeedoo, you put up good numbers against nevada and washington state! his record as a starter was 16-18. He makes way too many throws off of his back foot, Kerry Collins style. I just see a lot of PRiv in McCoy's game. 4/24/2010 10:53:56 AM |

I like the Norwood pick.
If you stick out as an LB in the SEC then you're worth a shot in the 4th round. We've had pretty good luck with them before (Davis, Witherspoon) 4/24/2010 11:35:10 AM |

From NFL.com
Greg Hardy (DE) Height: 6'4" Weight: 281 lbs. Arm Length: 34 in. Hand Size: 9 3/4 in. College: Mississippi
Quote : | "Greg is an excellent combination of size and athleticism. He has the ability to defend the run effectively when he keeps his pads down and gives effort but is inconsistent in this area. Greg is a solid reactor that finds the ball quickly and maintains leverage on the edge. He has good range when he decides to play hard but his motor doesn't always run hard. Hardy doesn't appear to have enough athleticism or versatility to contribute as a stand up defender but is talented and could be an excellent starter as a 4-3 defensive end. Durability, toughness and consistent effort are concerns." |

What are they thinking? Either go into the season w/ 3 qbs that have 8 starts between them, pick up a vet and carry 4 on the roster, or have to drop one of your draft picks
they'd better not start clausen over moore. 4/24/2010 3:27:28 PM |

Wow, what a shitty draft for the Panthers. This team needs more help then just at QB and WR. Hardy might be good, but he's lazy as shit and has attitude problems. 4/24/2010 3:48:29 PM |

No dude we are stacked. Stockpiling QBs and RBs will never go wrong. Just ask Gruden.
Panthers should have the opportunity to take Jevan Snead in the 7th.

fox could start clausen from day one, point to his improvement over the year, and maybe sell himself to Richardson as being at a point where he deserves a new contract and continue to develop the team 4/25/2010 3:14:10 PM |
