so how do you make a comparison if you dont even know the players you are matching up against?

NCSU secondary is 3 seniors and a Junior(Amerson) that are all returning starters.

Per ESPN
Quote :
"1. Good luck passing against these DBs. All four starters are back, headed by the record-setting David Amerson, whose 13 picks last season were the most in ACC history. Amerson added another in the spring game. Playing keep-away won't be so easy for opposing quarterbacks, who also have to worry about corner C.J. Wilson, who has returned all three of his career picks for scores. "

Quote :
" but Rogers and Patterson on your #2 CB and nickleback, and with completely new LBs for State...not even close"

-Jaybee1200

This just shows you are a homer that has no idea what he is talking about.

Yawn. As a State fan of course I knew... And I guarantee that this will be the best passing attack that State has played in a while, so I acknowledge they have been good, but this will be a bigger challenge. This WON'T be the best secondary that Tenn has played recently. I'll take Rogers over any of them.

I love how ANYTHING i say anti-State is seen as homerism, but anything I say pro-State is overlooked and ignored.

I'm going to go ahead and get this started:

#99 Tyler Knox, 6'4", 225 lb DE. I imagine he'll redshirt this year.

Clemson had the 12th ranked passing offense in the nation last year. Looks like Tennessee ranked 61st

NCSU led the nation in interceptions last year and was 8th in sacks, so im wondering exactly how you figure

^^ Clempson played that game without Sammy PED Watkins so that has to be taken with a grain of salt. UT will have some talented WRs for sure, but we will see if that makes a big time passing game or not. You still need a competent QB to get them the ball.

^^^^ pretty good, Bray looked good, Hunter didnt play though. Wanted to, claimed he could have, but they wouldnt let him

^^^ sigh... once again, go back and look, ALL of this was based on UT going into the game (the FIRST GAME) healthy, NOT missing their starting QB and best overall player (WR-Hunter) for the majority of the season, which is what the case was when they earned your 61st ranked status. And best secondary? I will take anything on Bama and LSU's defense (for example) over State. Come on man, use some sense.

^ I hope thats a joke... if not, good thing that isnt an issue, I mean, against Cincy Bray just went 34-41 for 405 yards and 4 touchdowns and 0 INTs vs. Glennon against Cincy two weeks later (so we arent comparing shit over 3 years or anything, just two weeks) who was 25/36 for 334 2 touchdowns (one of which came when the game was 34-7) and 2 INTs (which both setup Cincy TDs if I remember correctly).

Once again, this will come down to State's D-line vs UT's O-line. Somewhat related to protecting Bray but more so UT's god awful running game.

^ I actually just read up on an article...and Bray's side lost.

Seems like he was decent.

I just think the kid is a head case. I like his arm and thought he looked great for a twig of a freshmen again UNC in the Music City Bowl a couple years ago (he made a couple of ridiculous throws). But he's got a big head on his shoulders and I think that affects his play a little bit. Kind of like a Jay Cutler that thinks he can put the ball in tight spaces that aren't really there.

There's that, and Tennessee's defense BLOWS. We will put AT LEAST three touchdowns on the board...and that's just the offense. Their d-line doesn't exactly get a lot of pressure and our o-line has great experience. We should run the ball fairly well and pass the ball with ease. As long as Glennon doesn't make a bunch of mistakes, this game should not be that difficult.

I think Bray just has to have a monster game for them to win. But I don't think our D-line and secondary will allow it. I do worry about their TE destroying the middle of the field and our inexperienced linebackers...but I see Bray wanting to throw that long ball too much...resulting in sacks and picks.

But that's my homer opinion.

^ whats this? actual analysis and not just "anything anti-State is wrong!!"

Bray definitely thinks he can throw the ball anywhere at anytime... and he loves to say "fuck it, just throw the shit out of it" sometimes. The defense should be a lot better this year, and I think that if it turns into a high scoring, airing it out game, State wont be able to keep up on offense. If its a grind it out, use the clock game played in the trenches, then State wins. Bit odd, but the ACC team is the physical team, and the SEC team is the finesse team

^ I think it will be somewhere in the middle.

I just don't think there's anyway way that Bray doesn't throw at least one pick and get sacked at least 3 times. With a healthy d-line and Tenuta dialing in blitzes, and it being the first game of the year...the potential for mistakes is way too high if your offense decides to "air it out."

Fuck it...I just hope it's entertaining.

I pretty much agree with all of that. If UT cant run, and State just starts blitzing, then UTs O-line will have to hold which I dont know if it can... but if the defense has to respect the run, then let her rip "man with his own name tattooed on his back"

^^ Is that for real? That only solidifies my opinion of this guy being a complete fucking headcase. I liked it when he was throwing darts in the UNC game...but I'm sure I'll want to throw a battery at his head during the State game.

Hopefully we can get a pick off of him early and rattle that warped brain of his.

And that tattoo reminds me of:

"Creecy's Pieces, Installment 2
May 24, 2012
Raleigh, N.C. -

All summer, red-shirt sophomore running back Tony Creecy is going to allow GoPack.com to have an inside look into his mental and physical preparations for the upcoming season, his thoughts on the team, and what he's doing when he's not in class or in the Murphy Center.

Tuesday was Tony's 20th birthday. Although he's got big plans to celebrate this weekend, he spent the day doing what he always does: going to class, going to study hall, and getting ready for the season.

Every year we have a cookout to celebrate my and my friend's birthdays. Every year about 300 or 400 people show up. We provide the food, but it's first come, first serve. Everybody doesn't get to eat, because it's hard to feed that many people. We have a big water fight, a lot of people come to the park and have fun. The first year we had it at my house and my dad said we would never do that again. We thought it would be a good crowd, but about 300 people showed up! I know most of the people who come, but there are some friends of friends who show up.

I came back to Raleigh on Sunday night and started summer school. I feel rested, but I didn't really want to take any time off. That's all I need is time off to pick up weight! When I was home I worked out, but I still relaxed a lot. I did enough to stay in shape, which wasn't easy because my stepmom or my dad cooks a big meal every night. I would wake up at 7 a.m. every morning and do the workout that Coach Ed [Corey Edmond] gave us and then around 12 p.m. would do an hour of footwork and later in the afternoon I would do seven-on-seven with friends from other schools.

I'm only taking one class this session. I'm actually on track to graduate early, so I only have to take one class. I go to class, then go to study hall and then try to work out. Then the rest of the day is all mine. I try to do some pushups and some good stretching. Yesterday the quarterbacks and wide receivers started throwing and catching and the running backs will start this week. The new players will be here second session and that's when it will really pick up. I remember when I first came to school, I started on June 28, so it will be around then. I'm going to try to get some pictures of some of our workouts to post here.

When I'm done for the day, I just relax. I like having some time, but I'm so ready to play. I'm ready to see the results of all the hard work. A lot of players look better, we look great as a team and a lot of players are coming in just to work out. It's going to be crazy after two more months! I felt we all did so much better this spring. I was more explosive, the line was blocking better, the quarterbacks looked good. In another two months we're going to be even better. I wake up in the morning thinking about football. Every morning, I wake up to this on my alarm: "Blessed to see another day" - That's what I use to motivate me every single morning. It's always a blessing to see another day, and this [RIP MOM] reminds me of my Mom because she is my motivator. Losing her has made me appreciate so much. My dad does so much for me and my sister and my family that I want to give everything back to him.

I really love football. I've been doing it since I was five or six years old. I don't really know WHY I love it so much. I guess it's just the fact that it's like, free. I don't have my cell phone, I don't have school, I don't have anybody to worry about. And I love winning! When we're winning I get a whole other energy. When we lose I go into a hole and start thinking about what I can do better. I just want to do everything I can do right now to make sure we can win.

"One of my favorite preseason statistics, one that I find a reliable predictor for success, is the number of career starts returning on the offensive line. According to the 2012 Phil Steele College Football Review, which arrived over the weekend, Ball State is first in the FBS with 115 career starts, followed by NC State (112), West Virginia and Tennessee (105), LSU (104), FIU (103) and Oklahoma (102). Rice has the fewest career starts (15), followed by Penn State, Virginia Tech and UAB (17). "

If you all never believe anything I say from now on, believe this: you do NOT want to get a hotel where you have to drive. Your weekend will be fucked. They are predicting around 200,000 visitors to Atlanta that weekend, on top of shitty normal interstate traffic AND the fact that it's Labor Day Friday. Traffic will be insane. Get a hotel near the stadium or even better in Midtown (centrally located, better restaurants, better nightlife) and take MARTA.

I don't think there's a thread yet for the game. I know people in this thread were discussing locations. It's going to be a crowded weekend in Atlanta, so I would think booking hotel rooms sooner, rather than later, is better.
