This is why we don't have decent people running for president. Everybody makes gaffes, everybody makes mistakes. You can't make it to your 50's and 60's without leaving something for the media to dig up. Decent people don't want their lives exposed, so we're always only going to get shit for candidates.
I'm not going around telling people Hillary is unfit for president b/c she told a lie about landing under sniper fire in Afghanistan, but this whole West Point thing is pretty much the equivalent.
I'm not voting for the man, but this scrutiny is a little over the top. 11/8/2015 12:29:39 AM |

^ Carson seems to have a tendency to continuously embellish or lie about things, then either pretend he never said them or walk them back. I gave him a pass on the first few times he did this, but he seems to make a habit of this. If he's going to lie, he might as well learn to do it like everyone else, no need to do it so blatnatly. 11/8/2015 12:53:49 AM |

Man wtf ever. We still don't even have Barry's college transcripts. We had GW's...why not Barry's? Quote : | "We still don't even have Barry's college transcripts. We had GW's...why not Barry's?" |
You say this as if you think most candidates release their transcripts; this is false. GWB didn't release his transcripts, they were leaked to The New Yorker in 1999:
Quote : | "Moreover, President George W. Bush's records at Yale became public only after they were leaked to The New Yorker in November 1999. Bush had declined to release his academic transcripts." |
Also, this quote:
Quote : | "Most presidential nominees (at least of late) do not release their grades from college. Romney hasn't. John McCain disclosed his class rank in 2007, but not his grades. John Kerry made his Yale transcript public only after he lost the 2004 election. Sarah Palin didn't talk about her grades until after the 2008 election. One exception is Joe Biden, who released his undergraduate transcript in 1987 as a form of damage control." |
(Both quotes come from http://mediamatters.org/blog/2012/08/02/limbaugh-uses-dishonest-college-transcripts-arg/189096 )
So if you're gonna try to support your claim that
Quote : | "Hillary and Barrack have never received the kind of scrutiny that Carson is getting right now..." |
you're gonna need a different approach other than college transcripts. Also
Quote : | "...from CNN, NBC, ABC, etc. MSNBC isn't even having to do any work right now, everyone else is doing it for them." |
is correct if by "everyone else" you're including Ben Carson himself. If he doesn't want attention for saying ignorant things, perhaps he should stop making ignorant comments.11/8/2015 8:03:14 PM |

And I'm not arguing that the guy is running a crappy campaign, and that he should have thought about all the things he'd said in the past when deciding to run. It's just funny how blind some of you are to recognize how uneven the coverage has been. But to call him an idiot or a moron is going too far. He's neither, as his record as a surgeon proves otherwise.
If this stupid email thing had been on the other side, you'd have Dan Rather reporting more made up shit he got from a "reliable" source.

Have a look at this page
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories
and try to tell me Obama has escaped scrutiny. And that's just scrutiny over whether or not he's even American, which only scratches the surface of scrutinies applied to Obama.
Some preemptive thoughts: I expect you'll claim these weren't focused on in the "lamestream" media.
First: As much as the right wing media (RWM) machine would like to pretend otherwise, they ARE, in fact, part of the media--a pretty substantial portion of it, in fact. (I expect there are extremely few people who are not aware of the birther issue, for example). It's oxymoronic for the media to claim the media is ignoring something.
Second: The boy who cried wolf. The existence of all the conspiracy nuts paranoid about Obama being Kenyan, Muslim, Barry Soetoro, or the Anti-Christ causes the effectiveness of legitimate complaints to go relatively unnoticed. RWM should have spoken out against all those nuts if they wanted people to continue to take them seriously.11/8/2015 9:07:47 PM |

Unfortunately it's a hell of a lot more than 300. Hell, according to a poll, 25% think he may be the Anti-Christ. That's not 25, that's 25 PERCENT.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/apr/02/americans-obama-anti-christ-conspiracy-theories
And if you'll reread my post, you'll notice I also said, "And that's just scrutiny over whether or not he's even American, which only scratches the surface of scrutinies applied to Obama."
It's not just the citizenship thing he's been scrutinized on, it's also: People he's been associated with, such as Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis, and Saul Alinsky. Also his past drug use.
There's a whole lot more. Are you seriously telling me you're unaware of all this? I mean, look at all the anger some people have against Obama--THAT FACT RIGHT THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT OBAMA HAS BEEN HEAVILY SCRUTINIZED!

And of course there is the non-stop Hilary-a-thon that has been going on for three years. Laughable to claim the dem candidates don't get scrutinized.

Why not? It seems like damn near all conservatives denounce NBC and CNN, so by that logic NBC and CNN aren't mainstream either.
Being mainstream isn't mutually exclusive with being denounced; being mainstream is pretty much defined by how large your audience is. I mean, changing to music, Justin Bieber is mainstream, but he's denounced by virtually everyone over the age of 20.11/9/2015 8:43:09 PM |
