^ makes sense though the people who killed their own brothers to defend keeping slaves, in the bloodiest war in American history, would still have a propensity for violence to this day

^That's just a dumb statement RE: DNA.
We have a problem in this country. A serious one, and it is never going to get fixed because one side of the spectrum is so distrustful of the other side. We'll never have meaningful gun control because the right is like "Yur takin' ma guns" and the extremists on the other side really want to.
In the middle somewhere lies a solution that will help curb these kinds of attacks. But nobody's listening. 11/6/2017 12:40:15 PM |

um... how is that even remotely similar
gun owners support a few basic steps for gun control, like universal background checks. They also understand guns and understand the process of buying them better than others. Because of this, they will be able to do a better job crafting legislation that they can support.
every time democrats start, some moron inevitably adds some nonsense and it is dead before it even starts, so instead gun owners should offer up what they would be comfortable with.
this is a fantasy though, the NRA would primary anyone who did this

The NRA needs to go away. They don't really help gun owners, they just serve themselves and gun manufacturers. But I don't think anyone here would champion any lobby, especially gun lobbies. They support the right to bear arms only because it keeps them in business.
I don't want to see guns go away, because there are enough bad people with guns out there that most people would feel better protected if they had them. For me, personally, I have a four year old so I keep mine so locked up that if anyone broke in, we would have to jump out of our bedroom window and make ourselves scarce. But what works for me doesn't work for everyone.
And I think most responsible gun owners would do exactly what you said. But then you have the slippery slope folks - like Nighthawk - who are afraid of any change. How do you reach out to them? Who knows. 11/6/2017 1:42:10 PM |

BUT BUT BUT, WHAT PART OF "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?!!?
More and more gun owners are getting more and more extreme. They're falling in line with absolute rights and constitutional carry; not reasonable limitations and processes.
I know this because I'm around them.

so...if the gov't mandated the golden gun rule, would "responsible gun owners" (read:gun-nut) adhere to it because they're "responsible"? or would they immediately become that which they criticize?

yeh, but that plenty makes up a very small proportion of the populace. And those within elected offices are in the single digits; besides everyone knows such measures won't pass. You just like to use it as a means to say no to all gun control legislation. 99 bills are reasonable, 1 is not and you hypocrites are screaming LOOK, THUR TAKEN MUH GUNZ.

If this isn't terrorism, I don't know what is.
Quote : | "US Marine gets 10 years for abusing Muslim recruits
AFP | Published — Saturday 11 November 2017
WASHINGTON: A US Marine Corps drill instructor was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for abusing more than a dozen Muslim recruits, one of whom died in 2016, US media reported.
Gunnery Sergeant Joseph Felix was convicted a day earlier of maltreatment of the recruits during their basic training at the Parris Island, South Carolina base.
An jury of eight fellow servicemen and women considered Felix, an Iraq war veteran, the most to blame of six instructors who ordered and participated in extreme hazing of the recruits, taunting them as terrorists.
Two of them were forced into industrial-sized clothes dryers and in one case the machine was turned on when they did not renounce their faith.
One of the recruits, Raheel Siddiqui died after a plunge over a third-story railing in March 2016 after enduring days of hazing worse than the normal high-pressure treatment given recruits.
The Marines called his death a suicide. In October, Siddiqui’s family sued the Marines for $100 million, saying he was driven by an unnamed superior through a door and onto a balcony where he fell to the ground below.
The sentence decided Friday, which also includes a dishonorable discharge, was harsher than the seven years in prison that prosecutors had recommended.
The case will automatically go to appeal per military regulations for judgments that involve lengthy prison sentences and dishonorable discharges." |
This is already a joke of a sentence.
But I guess we can expect it to become a slap on the wrist after the appeal?
And this wasn't a "lone gunman" scenario either, but SIX of these demons were doing it. Group predatory and violent terrorism.11/11/2017 6:37:29 PM |
