So...still no power or water at my house. Still missing windows. Mold is growing in the walls. Living out of my car. Bouncing from place to place. And my landlord says "I'm not sure what to do"
Fuck. I just want my home back. 9/19/2018 9:22:45 PM |

421 is shutdown. I-40 had remained open for emergency vehicles but is now shutdown. 17 from Jacksonville is the only way into Wilmington.
I'm stuck at work unless the river goes down at low tide. 9/20/2018 9:13:52 AM |

There are multiple articles of cities releasing untreated waste water into rivers.

Numerous environmental hazards are materializing in the Carolinas in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. A number of sewer systems have been overwhelmed, and are releasing untreated or partially treated water, according to Reggie Cheatham, the Environmental Protection Agency’s director of emergency management." |

Heavy rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Florence sent tens of thousands of gallons of untreated wastewater into a tributary of North Carolina's Cape Fear River basin over the weekend.
The City of Greensboro said in a statement Tuesday that about 63,000 gallons (about 240,000 liters) of untreated wastewater flowed from a sanitary sewer main for about four hours on Sunday. Officials blame infiltration from heavy rainfall accumulated from Florence." |

421 is washed out at Fishing Creek near the pender/new hanover line. Closed to all vehicles. Got home via I-40 with a pass for utility workers, but I had to drive through about a foot of water at Castle Hayne. The Cape Fear has smashed record levels. 9/20/2018 7:24:11 PM |

^^I do rent. My landlord is being useless. It took her 4 days until after the storm to attempt to make any contact with me. After I had called and texted her those 4 days. Finally I just showed up to the office. She made me wait outside for 10 minutes before she would talk to me. She claims she isnt sure how to handle the repairs. Has several different reasons.
Hasn't even come to the house to look at it.
I am watching mold grow on the walls each day. I will give my notice tomorrow. We will move out hopefully this weekend. It is not safe to live in that property, so we will no longer live there. I have within 10 days of the storm to terminate the agreement because of damages.
Living with my parents will give us the opportunity to save money to buy a house. Also, since we havent broken out the wedding gifts, I will be able to donate quite a bit 9f household items to people around here. It sucks that we have lost our home, but hopefully some good will come out of it.

There's plenty of backup power coming from outside Brunswick. Transmission lines can carry power to Wilmington from hundreds of miles away so nothing to worry about if Brunswick isn't online.
In fact, it goes offline often (once a year or every other year) for maintenance purposes or refuels and Wilmington stays entirely unaffected. 9/21/2018 8:09:21 PM |

Eh, he asked about Wilmington losing power because of a nearby flooding power plant. If Brunswick won't affect Wilmington, nothing else will either from a loss of generation standpoint. 9/21/2018 9:48:27 PM |

We were supposed to go down to OIB next Thursday (coming from CLT). I've kept an eye on the realtime updates on state roads... but what about the water quality?!? Flo pretty much douched out eastern NC into the Atlantic.
Does the Gulf stream flow Flo's flow up north to the mid atlantic, or is it like a shotgun blast? 9/22/2018 12:00:31 AM |

It's still closed from 41 in Wallace to the Castle Hayne exit. Not sure about the water level at mile marker 387, which is where that drone picture that went viral was taken. However, on the north side of the NE Cape Fear River at Castle Hayne, the water is still about an inch deep on the right hand rumble strip eastbound and about a foot deep on the westbound lanes. 9/22/2018 1:31:18 PM |
