The MJM thing makes no sense.

Armstrong coming in if we were just a QB away I get it. But clearly not the case and on top of that he’s not great anyway. If this were the result with MJM at least you take the lumps know it’s building toward something. If MJM isn’t better than Armstrong to beat him out that’s concerning. If he’s as good, play him.

Do we really think he red shirts then plays 3 more years here? That’s so unlikely.

^^^ that’s pretty much where I’m at also. I don’t care about preserving Morris’s redshirt. If he’s really good he’ll go pro or transfer to SEC most likely before his eligibility is up. If he’s not *that* good then we should be able to recruit somebody better than him in the next 3 years.

We had to bring in a QB in the off-season. Couldn’t afford to go into the season with Lex Thomas as the back up (and Finley I guess if he had stuck around). I think it’s totally fine to give Armstrong the benefit of the doubt from the jump. But at some point he just doesn’t have it. I think all criticisms are valid (WRs sucks, OL sucks, run game sucks) and all those factors don’t help Armstrong. But he also sucks from what I’ve seen. If this is a rebuild year, which I think we were all prepared for knowing Leary was gone and what we lost defensively, then I’d rather actually build towards the future than try to patch things together and hope for 6 wins this year.

The Offense is a mess

Armstrong isn't the answer but with that line he is the least likely to get hurt.

The Offensive Line was awful on Friday they had at least 5 of the 10 accepted penalties. At no point in a home game should you have more than 1 false start.

^^ yeah that’s my hang up with throwing Morris in there. Morris doesn’t solve OL issues. He doesn’t solve the WRs running poor/incorrect routes (I think DD mentioned that in postgame). Morris doesn’t solve a pathetic run game.

It’s the right move. Armstrong doesn’t have it. Morris still has to deal with this OL and bad WRs and no run game. But you have to give him a shot, redshirt year be damned. If he’s good, play him. Fuck a redshirt.

We haven’t been able to run the ball well in like 3 years. I don’t necessarily think that issue is specific to Armstrong sucking as a passer. It does make it that much harder to run, though.
