That's kind of a lot of RBs in one class...maybe Nichols is moving to slot receiver.

Offers from Florida and Tennessee? Great! But he's only a 3* so TOB's terrible recruiting continues I guess.

I'm surprised they let him play at that size. I know pee-wee leagues have size limits, but I guess middle schools don't.

Hopefully he's kinda gentle at this stage in his life or he's going to hurt someone. I would quickly be-friend him if I were in school.

FayObserver article on recent commitment RB Josh Mercer:

http://www.fayobserver.com/articles/2012/09/25/1206550?sac=fo.sports

Quote :
"Picking up speed
N.C. State added speed to its backfield in the 5-11, 180-pound Mercer.

Mercer was a Regional 2-AAA champion in the 100-meter dash and was third at 200 meters as a junior. He posted a best time of 10.4 seconds in the 100 meters last season and has been clocked at 4.38 in the 40-yard dash.

But Mercer has become much more than just a fast running back, according to South Effingham coach Donnie Revell.

"He's always had great speed,'' Revell said. "But he's worked hard on his mechanics at running back because that's what he wanted to be in college. He's gotten stronger. Now he can run inside with power and, obviously, when you get him out in space he can turn it loose.''

Mercer, whose had a regular role on the South Effingham varsity since his freshman year, rushed 192 times for 1,354 yards last season. Through the first three games this year, Mercer carried 60 times for 333 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Wake Forest also offered Mercer a scholarship.

Seniors James Washington and Brandon Barnes will complete their eligibility after the 2012 season, and the future of suspended Mustafa Greene is up in the air. So, running back has become a higher priority for N.C. State in recruiting.

Mercer is the third prep rusher to commit to the Wolfpack, joining Matt Dayes from Weston, Fla., and Dakwa Nichols from Rockingham."

ESPN has him as the #19 WR in the country. Here's what they say about him:

Quote :
"Priester is a wide receiver who combines size, deceptively good speed and elusiveness for a player of his height. He has a long, wiry frame and can be a little straight-lined, but he's also flexible enough to get in and out of breaks and make defenders miss after the catch."

Scout/FoxsportsNEXT has him ranked as #93 WR. With legit offers from TCU, UGA and S. Carolina though, i'll take him. Film looks pretty good.

I'll tell you what happened.

FSU was number 3, we beat them...now we're number 3.
Georgia lost to the number 6.
We're officially better than them.

Quote :
"Ex-UGA football recruit Kyrin Priester committed to NC State on Sunday.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver from Brookwood High School said he picked NC State over South Carolina, TCU and Vanderbilt.

“My relationship with the NC State coaches sealed the deal,” Priester told the AJC. “Then when I got there this weekend, the atmosphere for the game and everything … everybody being so nice to me, and my family as well, made it even better.”

Priester originally committed to UGA last April and then re-opened his recruiting a few months later because he felt like he had “rushed” his decision.

Last summer, Priester nearly committed to South Carolina after being recruited heavily by assistant Steve Spurrier Jr. “I had a good relationship with Coach Spurrier, but I didn’t really talk to the all the other coaches like I did at NC State. It’s like family there. It was way better this weekend than when I went to the Missouri game at South Carolina.

“At South Carolina, I felt like I only knew Coach Spurrier. With all the other coaches, they didn’t seem to have my best interests for me. I was just another player to them. Well, I’m not going to say I was just another player to them but when I went to NC State, all the coaches got involved with me. Everybody spoke to me, and everybody was cool. At South Carolina, I spoke mostly with just Coach Spurrier.”

Priester also considered committing to UGA for a second time. After being encouraged by his Brookwood teammate who is committed to the Bulldogs, linebacker Shaun McGee, Priester made a surprise unofficial visit to UGA for the Buffalo game. While at the game, Priester said he talked with UGA wide receivers coach Tony Ball, and said at the time: “They told me there was a place for me if that’s where I want to be. Coach Ball said they still need another wide receiver, and if I got serious about Georgia and put them back on the table, I will have a scholarship there.”

After thinking more about it, Priester got serious about UGA. He called a few weeks ago to set up an official visit for the UGA-Tennessee game and found out that the scholarship was gone, or was being saved for somebody else.

“They basically told my mom that they took my scholarship away,” Priester said. “They said I could come to the game and get tickets, but not as an official visit. When they told my mom about the scholarship being taken away, that’s when I knew they weren’t serious about me. It got to me a little bit, but I’m fine because now I’m where I want to be, and that’s NC State.”

Priester moved from the Orlando area to Brookwood after his junior season last March. His best friend, linebacker Jerod Fernandez of Florida’s Lake Mary High School, is also committed to NC State."

He sounds, indecisive...

But then, he's a 17-18 year old kid and it's pretty understandable to make snap decisions when Spurrier or The Bulldogs are knocking on your door.

Sounds like our coaches were more willing to be patient and stick with him through the process.

I was just looking at our 2013 recruiting class, and we're really stocking-up on the offesnive skill positions (except qb). So far, we have we've got verbals from 5 projected WRs and 3 RBs. Of course, a few of them will probably end up at other positions. I'll be interested to see where 6'7" WR Pharoah McKever ends up (plays QB and Safety at South Columbus)

Who are you counting as the 5th WR?

We may well get up to 5 if Jonathan Alston commits, but I count 4 right now.

And I think having 3 RBs committed means Greene likely won't be back next year.

word on the street is stephen rivers is unhappy being a backup at LSU for the foreseeable future, and is on track to graduate this year, and use the graduate transfer rule to come to state and start immediately.

If that Stephen Rivers rumor is true, then great. Sounds completely made up though.

I still don't understand why any QB would want to play at LSU? Their offense is garbage nearly every year despite having 5* talent everywhere. Yeah playing SEC defenses hurts their ability to put up big numbers, but LSU's offense sucks even against the mediocre teams. It's clear that Miles cannot develop an NFL starting caliber QB. Matt Flynn is his best success and look at how unprepared for the NFL JaMarcus Russell was.
