to be honest i just started to get back into poker seriously. I took a few months off from playing everyday, but just got back into it hardcore after a trip to turning stone. I would LOVE to be turned on to a consistent limit game in the city, i've heard of playstation, but haven't been there bc i hadn't heard about the limit thing (people i know that go there only play nl). Definetly keep me updated bc i'd like to go,i work with someone who can get us in if you don't know anybody. 11/26/2006 10:36:38 PM |

in all reality,
id like to use it as an excuse to make the call of
"i happen to be in the city, see what you are up to, maybe show me around"
with these girls that work for bicardi promotions.
met them at borgata, they know i play blah blah blah, gotta work some ends.
the gettin' is sorta dry in delaware. time to set up franchises. 11/26/2006 10:40:21 PM |

Has anyone gone out on the gambling boats in SC? More specifically the ones in Myrtle, I thought bout going on one to try to find a good NL of PL holdem game. I just wonder if the 3 or 4 hours out there is really worth while since it will take me probably an hour to get a good make up of the table i'm at.

I can't stand online play anymore
The amount of money that is slowly drained from me because of bullshit after bullshit play is unbelievable
constantly being sucked out on the river by better flushes, better boats, or miracle 1 outers
I just wish there was somewhere with live play. That seems to be my only profitable area, and I have no idea why. 11/27/2006 11:15:18 PM |

Holy crap, I was a baaaaaaaaaaad boy tonight
So I played my normal 1/2nl 6 handed game for a couple of hours, ran/played bad to ended up losing $700. Had a pretty sick beat for a $500 pot(all-in with KK vs JJ pre), battled back some then blew it on a bad read/play, then tilted off one more buy-in. No biggie, this sort of thing happens all the time.
But instead of shutting it down for the night, or taking a few hours to cool off and then starting over, I decide to try out some heads up NL cash game strategies I've been thinking about lately. I'm still on FTP and I see that the lowest game they spread for this is 3/6. With my tilto logic I decide that this is okay because I normally have $800+ in play at any given time while 4-tabling 1/2, and if I just play 1 table with $600 in front of me it'll be comparable. I lose $750 in about 20 minutes, mostly on a semibluff that didn't get there.
So now I'm down $1450 on the day, my worst day ever(because I generally quit before I get this deep). I have the bankroll to handle it, I'm not in any serious trouble, but I am not a happy camper. I go outside for a smoke and start debating my next move. I consider just hitting the bottle, but instead I predictably decide(tilto logic still in full effect) that the guy I played heads up was a terrible player, I have a good read on him, and I should win money if I give it another go.
I get back on that table, he is now sitting with $1500 and I buy-in for $600. I end up taking that entire stack plus another buy-in in about 35 minutes, leaving the table with over $2700.
Here are the main two hands, which are now the biggest and 2nd biggest pots I've ever won in my life:
FullTiltPoker Game #1317298917: Table Wade (heads up) - $3/$6 - No Limit Hold'em - 1:21:33 ET - 2006/11/28 Seat 1: StackMarket ($1,413) Seat 2: noidroid ($1,027.50) StackMarket posts the small blind of $3 noidroid posts the big blind of $6 The button is in seat #1 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to noidroid [Ks Jc] StackMarket raises to $12 noidroid raises to $36 StackMarket calls $24 *** FLOP *** [5s 3s Kd] noidroid bets $60 StackMarket calls $60 *** TURN *** [5s 3s Kd] [Js] noidroid checks StackMarket bets $150 noidroid calls $150 *** RIVER *** [5s 3s Kd Js] [8c] noidroid checks StackMarket bets $450 noidroid calls $450 *** SHOW DOWN *** StackMarket shows [4d 7d] (King Jack high) noidroid shows [Ks Jc] (two pair, Kings and Jacks) noidroid wins the pot ($1,391.50) with two pair, Kings and Jacks *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $1,392 | Rake $0.50 Board: [5s 3s Kd Js 8c] Seat 1: StackMarket (small blind) showed [4d 7d] and lost with King Jack high Seat 2: noidroid (big blind) showed [Ks Jc] and won ($1,391.50) with two pair, Kings and Jacks

I end up +$530 on the day. This story really shouldn't have a happy ending, I broke almost all of my rules for responsible gambling. I am going to take a couple days off to reflect on the error of my ways. 11/28/2006 2:19:01 AM |

somewhere he had his YTD chart where he was up over $600k in 2006 from the party 5/10 and 10/20 plo8 games.
hes been like a 13bb/100 player over several hundred thousand hands, from 2/4 plo8->10/20 plo8.
he was hit-n-running the 1k/2k for a bit, now seems to be playing full sessions as these absurd stakes.

the funny thing is,
the guy is finishing up his phd work as a particle physicist.
and realizes that his work when he graduates will never equal in pay or excitement as the online poker boom has afforded him during the wain of his dissertation research.
thats gotta be a weird state, to be completely cognisant of the fact that the best part of your life is currently happening and has a finite ending, and that after the end theres not much more to look forward to. notoriety as a particle physicist aint what it used to be, and sure isnt what being internet famous for high stakes poker is now. 12/1/2006 3:04:28 PM |

pilgrimshoes Suspended 63151 Posts user info edit post |
live play is exciting, but not really. im kind of starting to hate playing all together. more on that in a second.
but thats not where i was going with the thing about him.
im really starting to realize how detremental playing the way i do has been to many aspects of my life.
it may not be worth it anymore.
sure the extra cash is nice, and afforded me the ability to have a shitton of fun over hte past few years without any regard. (my last two years in college, i dont think i even checked my bank account statements once, and racked up thousands in bar tabs every month)
but, now, i think i may have moved on.
I havent played online in forever, and havent seriously in nearly a year. I have no desire to. I sit behind a computer all day at work, then dont want to when i get home. my main computer with my poker programs hasnt been turned on in 2 weeks, ill use my laptop on the couch occasionally, but usually just for tww and aim.
i havent been to ac in 2 weeks, and dont really know if i want to go back, except when friends are in town.
i may be finally getting bored of it.
Also, I think poker has developed many crucially horrible character flaws that have become ingrained to my lifestyle.
Money means nothing to me, and thats getting dangerous. I have no qualms with putting in $1k with a 75% edge, and over time, this has moved into my spending habits as well. my managment skills have fallen through the floor, and have become nearly non-existant. ill spend $400 on something, and not even blink an eye, or think about how hmmmm put that in an index fund and let it grow as opposed to buying some stupid girl a purse or something equally as dumb.
personal character flaw.
ive developed massive tilt-o-matic issues that ran over into my personal life and has costed me friends and relationships. blow off a few thousand, take out my anger by being a complete asshole to people i care about. this was compounded with the fact that for some reason i think i developed a sense of invincibility with poker. when you're impossible to beat, and get destroyed by donks over and over again, i developed somehow a feeling that i was i guess entitlted to winning more since i have put in so many hundreds if not thousands of hours in practice, reading, studying, and developing a game. theres no entitlement in poker. this mindset is nothing but a total guide for disasterous blowups.
i remember when i won my first like $50 pot, and my hands were shaking.. it was so exciting.
chasing that feeling like an meth addict has led me to the pit or sports books, and thats just stupid.
cant tell you how many times id have a winning poker sesison, only to do dump it all off in the pit like a moron, trying to get that feeling of winning. winning is addictive, and poker didnt do it anymore.
going and playing mega long sessions is bad for my health. it hink that it may have acutally deteriorated much of my critical thinking skills and knowledge gained in school and past endevours. (that or binge drinking, ahah) not eating 36 hours or so, sustaining on fruit juice and green tea on a weekly basis isnt a good thing. then eating fat burger or something of the like on the way there or back everytime doesnt help either.
its not fair for my dog. she needs company.
after living here 6 months i still dont know any friends i like. i dont try and meet people, i go to ac instead. that leads to another thing
the people that are in casinos all the time are all the same. they are all pretty mean and shitty people. i dont want to become one of them.
basically this is my public comming out that im no longer going to play seriously, if at all. ill go when friends are in town, but i dont see any more point in wasting my life away with this obsession anymore, which is what it was. id go home, think about hands, read poker books, read columns and 2+2 everyday, all day hwen i wasnt going to play. thats not healthy.
nothing really happened to provoke this, no bad loosing session, no debt or anything like that. im just done wasting my life on something that used to be fun.
anyone got any suggestions for new hobbies? 12/1/2006 3:45:04 PM |
