Quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said by Steve Jobs.

While I have enjoyed porn on occasion I am certain there are millions of people out there that agree with him and millions who don't care either way.
Besides the "LOL he said and instead of an". That's nothing I see that's funny or stupid. You can still enjoy all the porn you want on an iPhone/iPad.4/20/2010 3:20:18 PM |

can I install 4.0 without being a developer or whatever? i.e. is the ROM hosted somewhere, and can I flash it to my stock 3G by booting into DFU mode and then shift-clicking restore in iTunes? 4/20/2010 10:22:38 PM |

^^no! Don't do it unless you want a bricked iPhone. You can, however, do it if you know a developer that can add your phone to their account. It has to activate through iTunes and verifies that your UDID is authorized for OS beta.

Its not really worth the effort to flash your 3G anyway...you can't use multitasking and even if you could nothing really takes advantage of it except the core apps (right now). Better off switching to get the features you want.

Beta 2 is soo much better already. For one, I don't have to kill Safari if I get it into landscape mode and want to go back to portrait. 4/21/2010 11:06:39 AM |

Uh... remember like a week ago when there was that whole big stink about Apple's change to their SDK and how that left a bunch of companies up in the air as to whether you'd still be able to use their product?
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

^^ No, I haven't yet. I think I have to download something else first. I know I was starting on an Android app, and had to download the Android SDK before I could do anything. It also doesn't seem to be very user-friendly. The documentation is sparse, to say the least.
^ Pretty sure Apple's already made the decision to let third-party IDEs like this and Phonegap slide. They modified that section of the EULA for Flash CS5 and Flash CS5 alone. 4/21/2010 6:04:47 PM |

http://www.macuser.co.uk/news/277093/google-brings-free-satnav-to-uk.html
Quote : | "Google has introduced its free turn-by-turn satellite navigation to the UK, threatening the future of commercial providers such as Garmin and TomTom.
The navigation system is available as a free update to Google Maps on Android phones, but won’t stop there. Google confirmed at a London press conference that it plans to bring free satnav to other smartphone platforms, including the iPhone, although it wouldn’t say when.
Unlike rivals such as TomTom or CoPilot’s smartphone software, Google’s satnav software doesn’t store maps on the device but downloads them on-demand from the cloud. That means users will need to have an active data connection when planning routes, though not while travelling.
“Google Maps pre-caches the entire route,” said Mobile Maps product manager, Steve Lee. “It needs a data connection when you ask for navigation. But while driving to your destination, if you intermittently lose the connection, it will still carry on. As long as you stay on the route.”
Once underway, users can choose from several viewing options: in addition to standard maps and directions Google provides satellite imagery and access to Street View, plus live traffic data (though it cannot yet automatically reroute to avoid congestion).
The launch of Maps’ satnav will doubtless be a blow to commercial providers such as TomTom and Garmin. However, Google claims the satnav makers had become complacent and that they will now be forced to innovate.
“Google prides itself on innovating in markets that have been stagnant for a while,” said Hugo Barra, director of mobile products at Google. “I think navigation is a good example. It will be good for users.”" |
