I know he has been ranked, that is why I checked and looked for him. Show me where someone posted that he was 11th.

He started off in the 80's. After a number of months he worked his way down to the 30's, I believe. Then they changed their scoring system to be less subjective and I'm pretty sure he debuted at #10 and has stayed in that neighorhood for the past month or two.

Now quit being ghey and argumentative.

^yeah, exactly.. lol

Wow, I just BR'd some kid. Was happy with my weekly earnings and decided to take tonight off. But then I got bored and decided to fuck around at some .5/1 HU. Bought in for $100 against the $200 he was sitting with, ended up cashing out $513 and putting him on life tilt. Good times.

His last rebuy was for like $32.41 and when I got it(jack high biatch) I typed "busto?" and that really sent him over the ledge. Wish I had saved the chat, it had all the good stuff.

^^I'm in dude. I was going to go with the brothers klagii this weekend but it fell through.
^Nah, I'd rather be in karim's group

btw, I am still a heads up soldja:

***** Hand History for Game 204190650 *****

Not an easy call by any stretch. My first instict was fold because he could have been playing rope-a-dope with a 5 or backdoor flush. Aces are great and all but I try not to stackoff with them in a 400BB+ pot.

Then I thought back to a number of hands like this one:

***** Hand History for Game 204190034 *****

weaksauce is all-In [$70.60]
SMFD is refunded uncalled bet $17.40
SMFD shows [ 5s Ac ] Three of a Kind, Deuces
** Dealing River ** [ Ts ]
weaksauce shows [ Js Kd ] a Full House, Deuces full of Jacks
SMFD shows [ 5s Ac ] Three of a Kind, Deuces
weaksauce wins $446.20 from main pot

And I think I have to call him. The positive side of HU variance is niiiiiiice.

Folding preflop is okay given the 3 limpers, one of which is a shortstack. If I did decide to raise it would definately be my standard pot sized bet of $6.50, which may or may not get the blinds out in this case.

As played I would probably isolation reraise the all-in to $25-$30, though I wouldn't be thrilled about the spot I had put myself in.

^I thought about the reraise to isolate, in a tourney I would have. In a cash game, I felt like I had to call and hope no one else reraised. With no one showing strenght, in late position, I felt like the hand snowballed into a bad position.

Alright, someone who has played roullete please explain whether this is legal:

You have two colors, red and black. Bet $10 on red. Win - get $10. Lose - bet $20 on red the next time. If you still lose, bet $40 the next time. If you STILL lose, bet 80 next time. Eventually you win $10 on sheer probability (and provided you ahve the money to cover these bets.

Use the $10 profit to start all over again.

I'm sure there's a rule that prevents you from doing this...

there's no rule that prevents you from using a martingale system.

hell, they'll love to have you do it.

want to know why?

because this:

First of all, no you will not eventually win on sheer probability.

Second, I believe you will eventually hit a maximum bet amount.

See: http://wizardofodds.com/gambling/bettingsystems.html

Jim and I had a long conversation about this about 100 pages back if you get bored.

Yeah, seriously, even with an infinite betting limit and an infinite amount of money, that system will fail because of 1 little space (in Europe) or 2 little spaces (in the U.S.). 0 and 00.

First off, I realize in the long run this system doesn't work. No betting system works in the long run. I'm simply saying, given a high enough betting ceiling, you can reduce the chance of going broke significantly.

Let's assume you're starting with a $1 bet and the max bet is $100. Using a Martingale system you stand to lose the following with each loss.

1 loss - $1
2 losses - $3
3 losses - $7
4 losses - $15
5 losses - $31
6 losses - $63

Assume everytime you win $1 you set it aside and restart. Statistically speaking only one time in 64 are you going to suffer 6 straight losses. That reduces the risk substantially. Now try performing the same system with a $1000 max bet. Now you have to lose 9 in a row to bust out.

In the long run you will bust out enough to cancel out your winnings. I knew that was the case, but I didn't know why. Thanks for the article David0603.

If you really want to see a true testament that you cannot rely on probability to bail you out, you need to come see me and ben play an evening of craps.

WRONG, has nothing to do with the problem AT ALL... With that setup you would win money, and lots, and the 0/00 would have no effect.

^^ ahahahah

yeah no kididng.

for some reason when jon and i get around a table, the most immaculately horrible statistical anyomolies(sp) occur.

"First off, I realize in the long run this system doesn't work.

Now you have to lose 9 in a row to bust out.

you've still got fundamental flaws.

First off, if you lose 6 in a row, its not $100, its $120. You'd have effectively busted your system in 5 loses, since you couldnt afford another spin if you limited to $100.

Whered you get 1:64?

You are attempting to ignore house edge in your calculations also, which in this case makes a difference.

its what, 38 spots on a layout? (from memory)

2 green, 18 black 18 red.

so, therefore each specific event you have a 47.368% chance of winning, with a 52.632% chance of losing.

(0.52632)^2 = 0.2771 ~27.7%

(0.52632)^3 = 0.1458 ~14.58 %

(0.52632)^4 = 0.0767 ~7.67 %

(0.52632)^5 = 0.0404 ~4.04%

looks more like 1:25 to me.

and each specific spin is a brand new event, so technically, even if you've lost 500 straight spins, its still a
4% chance that you'll lose the next 5.

a 4% occurance with such a small sample size is a relatively low sigma event also, due tot he nature of variance
and discrete outcomes.

do you know how long 25 spins lasts on a roulette table?

about 80 minutes tops.

you're better off to avoid the variance and just play normal bets if you are just trying to enjoy yourself. suck up the house edge, and consider that paying for your drinks.

so on a $10 table, paying one bet, you're still going to lose ~$0.50 per spin, or upwards of $15/hr.

whaturr.

The interesting part about martingaling comes in with the situation that busting out actually saves you money, and it could be argued that busting actually saves you money, even for when you would have won the next spin. (not saying that youre saving -ev by not betting, lol, thats fucking obvious) Thats where the concepts start to get fuzzy.

There's tons more that could be said aboutt his, perhaps ill get into some of it if this is still going when i get home from work.
