I remember project 2025 had a chapter about abolishing tsa. Which I tend to agree with, but now I’m wondering what their underlying motive is… has to be something sinister

I don’t know who ran airport security before 9/11 but I see privatization of that function to be good. Airlines and airports are going to be more interested in a smooth onboarding.

Privatization will absolutely result in things like first class security lines. tsa pre is $80 for 5 years! If privatized how long do you think before pay per visit for faster lines etc and precheck replacement cost explodes?

Maybe this is semantics, but it's not privatization, it's just monetization of government agencies. They don't want to replace TSA with some private corporation that scans luggage etc, they just want to use different government agents where they can manipulate the finances in their favor (while shitting on more constitutional rights)

they can easily control travel / do not fly lists by replacing TSA with their own agency.

they can already control all of that

it’s about getting the government out of sectors that they’ll be able to get as much money out of as possible

they’ve always looked at the government as a hindrance to maximum profitability

this is their hero: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Friedman

Quote :
"Friedman promoted a macroeconomic viewpoint known as monetarism and argued that a steady, small expansion of the money supply was the preferred policy, as compared to rapid and unexpected changes.[18] His ideas concerning monetary policy, taxation, privatization, and deregulation influenced government policies, especially during the 1980s."

there’s obviously a lot more to it than that, but that really gets to the heart of it
