This stuff smells JUST. LIKE. my grandmother's old kitchen (the house before their final one).

Instant tears.
She died of breast cancer...there's a breast cancer event @ my work today. I can't stop crying.

^I'm sorry to hear that about your Mother. I was my Grama's wingman for her breast cancer, went to every chemo, and surgery and wig shopping. It's hard, really hard. But we found ways to make it fun. We brought in coolers of fun food and spent the morning watching reruns of Get Smart.

There have been huge developments, and the odds are getting better. My Grama has been in remission for eight years now, and when she found out, they didn't think she would make it through. Don't lose hope

^^^ I've embraced crying in the bathroom and telling people that I have a cold. My mom is going through round 5? 6? for thyroid cancer and she told me right before a big event that I had going on with friends. I spent most of the evening getting drunk and then drunkenly crying in my boyfriend's bathroom afterward

Many many hugs from me, if you want to grab a drink to talk about it then I'm all ears.

I, too, can relate... my dad had acute myelogenous leukemia for a year and amazingly lived. I know it's hard to think of at this point, but survival is possible and just try to keep that in sight. Like I just said, it can be hard to keep thinking that... My dad was on his death bed pretty much - they had the minister come in and everything to read him his last rights. Then, somehow, he pulled through.

i pretty just pmed you the same think miska posted here. my mom had AML (leukemia) last year and needless to say it did not end well but i can totally relate to what you are going through.

so i'm also here for the cancer support group - we really should meet up for a drink or coffee sometime so that we can all be supportive of you (and misha!). that is something i wish i had last year.

seriously. i'm not even joking. if you want to talk i'm down. and even if you don't i'm probably going to stalk you now and ask you if you need anything like 700 times. so be warned

but really i'm so sorry to hear that news (and misha's too).

LOTS OF HUGS for you all.

i just need to rant about sizing. ugh. i'm wearing an XS top right now that makes my boobs huge but its like SUPER tight. so then when i ordered shit from old navy a few weeks ago i got those foldover jersey skirts in a small (cause i've gained weight) and they're GIANT. like what the fuck sizing. i do think old navy and banana do hardcore vanity sizing though. but still i never know my goddamned size. /rant

how long has your dad been in remission? where was he treated?

i'm doing team in training (i know i've said this like a thousand times but this time i really am haha) this summer for the raleigh city of oaks 1/2 marathon in nov or whenever it is. i really want to get involved with the leukemia and lymphoma society cause they really provided a lot of support for my family.

he has been in remission forrrr.... 12, 13 years I think? He was treated at Pitt Memorial. He got really sick one week and finally my mom made him go to the doctor because he couldn't keep anything down. They get to the doctor who after some quick blood tests told him if wasn't air lifted to Pitt immediately he would have serious problems and would probably die. Then he spent 1 year at Pitt.

^ oh wow so a really long time so he is like considered cured or whatever. that is super amazing and really really awesome.

ok hay i'm back with some regular conversation topics. clothes not cancer! though i am serious about meeting up to talk if anyone else wanted to!

THEN today i went to target and got some stuff. i got a dress i think i'm going to wear to my graduation - it is super simple but i think with cute peep toe heels or wedges and some dressier jewelry i can dress it up:

(it has smocking like in the middle of it - its just super light cause no one is really going to see it anyway under gowns and its going to be hot so)

then i got two tops that i think will look cute with jeans and sandals just casual shit:

this picture really doesn't do the top justice. its a LOT cuter than it looks here. its really flowy and has beading on the neck line and straps and its longer on me than the model. and i wouldn't wear it with whatever the model is wearing it with cause it is pretty wide and flowy it doesn't really go with a flowy skirt. but whatever its cute on and in person:

AND THEN i was in DIRE need of gold sandals cause my dog ate my sandals from target last year that i fucking LOVED and i haven't been able to find a pair similar to them ANYWHERE this year. i just hate everything i've seen. i got an $8 pair of old navy gold flipflops but they give me blisters so i got these at target - on sale for $12. they have other colors but all the good ones were sold out. i mean these will do for now, i like the strap style not crazy about the color or ruffle but its better than nothing:

AND now i'm pretty much done shopping until like july haha. cause i got too much today. oops.

omg sort of obsessed with these. would they go with a black sundress? they'd look good with my robe cause its black and purple. i just want them want want want. they are expensive

OMG they have them in offwhite/light pinky which would look cute with black i feel like:

and i like these

but i'm getting distracted cause i don't know if a sandal is approp.

something like this is probably more appropriate. i just wish i could find a color besides black but i guess that is the best thing SIGH:

FERGIE!!!!
these aren't that expensive (not like seychelles) and they have them in this sand color and black. i like:

After trying on/wearing a wedding dress (which goes by the traditional measuring) I utterly despise vanity sizing

thats how i feel there's NO REASON i shouldn't be a small. like what the fuck to people smaller than me do if i'm wearing an XS?? good grief. and at banana like all of the XS dresses are way too big on me. i guess XXS exists some places but that is just dumb!

anyway what do you ladies think of these bridesmaids dresses? i have no idea who these pics are up - the album had a friend tagged in it and popped up in my newsfeed so i started looking at all the pics. i actually think the dresses are cute and if i was a bridesmaid i'd be like "hell yea something not ugly" but if i was a bride i don't think i'd want my biatches in such a light colored/whiteish dress. i mean obviously its up to the bride though i just thought they were interesting:

this is what I'm doing for bridesmaid dresses:

that way errbody's happy and they don't drop a ton of cash.. and they'll wear it again

while those white/silver ones are pretty... I can't see many people wearing something like that again ya know

ps, kadwackle: he's not necessarily "cured"... they said he will never get AML again BUT since he went through that something about his treatment could cause other cancers to pop up later in life
:\

I am having one this Saturday evening if anyone wants in... (Send me your E-mail and I will send you the evite) I have A LOT of stuff to get rid of. Now that I am making my own jewelry - I don't wear my store-bought jewelry a lot. Ack.

its super cute dont get me wrong, im just trying to imagine myself in it and the back seems like it would dig in hardcore

well I read the reviews before ordering because I thought the same thing... it's specifically a D/DD cup top and a bunch of the reviews said it worked out great, fit true to size, etc.

I'm kinda used to the digging in thing due to bras (I'm sure you and other big boob ladies can feel my pain when I say I have indentions on my shoulders from how heavy they are)... hopefully it'll work out though

PLUS, it's a Body Glove and I would hope they have hardcore stuff since they sell a lot of wetsuits, surfing gear, etc, ya know?

If you have that problem, you probably need a smaller band size so that your shoulders aren't given the burden of support. My back feels so much better from going down a band size and up in the cup.

Hmm... I never thought of it that way... but would that mean I would need to go to like a 34DD? :\ I normally fall between D/DD (but mainly D) and get a 36

ha....God.

I am serious. I don't know where to buy bras. VS used to be the place I went but their bras don't fit correctly anymore and I am afraid I am going to have to buy a bra that is 80 dollar bucks but that means I could only buy one and who wears one bra ALL THE TIME? I usually double up my bras [regular bra + sports bra/bra cami]. I would like to try tartsquids advice.

Any places in charlotte, possibly Raleigh that have bigger than DD?

^3 I think he did both... He actually got AML due to a combo of radiation and stress
