this isn't a hold 'em story...but
we were in the dominican republic over new years and my girlfriend and i were playing carribean stud. i feel like if you have a pair, you should automatically call...well, my girlfreind had 666 and didn't look further...
needless to say, the dealer qualified with 55...when she flipped my gf's cards over, she had quad 6's, which paid 20-1. she won a shit ton, we were both very excited. the night eneded well. 1/6/2007 12:35:53 AM |

had Q9 hearts Flop was K 2 3 of hearts...
2 other people go allin and of course i call...
one of them has J6 of hearts and the other has A4 of hearts...
unfucking believable..
but i did hit a 260$ pot earlier
by the way, if anyone wants to sign up at http://www.bodog.com pm me. With my referral code they will give me a bonus of 40% of whatever you deposit.... i will give you half of that bonus....
so if you put in 100$ it will give you an extra 10% just for signing up and it will give me 40$ for referring you... which you don't have to earn it is able to be automatically cashed out... so if you deposit 100$ you'll end up with $130. 1/8/2007 7:25:01 PM |

ok, a 3-6 handed limit omaha 8 video was made and i rendered it into *.wmv last night
that took forevverr...
i chopped it down to about an hour of pure hands being played, nixed the folds.
and some more interesting situations than the previous one.. ill send it to those that im/pm'd me over the last few days probably tonight.
on a side note, justin, or any other statistics dudes.. it's been like 4 years since my last statistics class, and i was thinking about this situation last night. it's pretty basic, but i dont have a better place, and you guys are about the only ones that'll give a serious answer
say there's a grid with 10x10 colored blocks, so 100 in total. you can choose as many as you'd like to make blue, denoting your blocks out of the 100.
a random drawing is made to number the rows and columns, then a semi random drawing is made to determine winners.
4 drawings, 1st and 3rd drawing to net 2/3 the amount of the 2nd and 4th drawing. repeat winners allowed. winnings determined by 100 units, one per block, divied into the pool.
how many blocks would you need in order to break a 50% win percentage?
it's 13 right?

Ben, stop trying to break your office SB grid pool. I'm assuming that's what this is. In which case I would imagine you'd have to factor in some other things, like the likelihood of each number being present in a score (scores ending in 2 considerably less likely than scores ending in 0, etc). Combination A is not equally likely as combination B.

hence the semi-random, after the number drawing there are obviously bad numbers, that will sway the probable outcomes.
see, i like the concept, but i dont like losing

My HU sng experiment is done, I only won 47 out of the 100 tournies
Played 70 100+5's at UB with what turned out to be 65% rakeback using their pts to cash promotion and bonus dollars, only won 32 of them. Also played 30 110+5's at PS with 50% rakeback due to the bonus I had on there, won 15 of them. Ended up at -$797.50 when it was all said and done.
Most of my losses occurred on Monday when I played 30 tournies and lost over $800. I was trying to see if I could play 50 in one day and barely made it to 30. I took some horrendous beats and went on mega monkey tilt after about 10 tournies and it just got worse as the day went on. I also played a lot of "ultra-turbos" that day with 2 minute blind levels(all the rest were 5 minute levels) and I did really poorly in them, mostly due to the fact that I couldn't win a race to save my life. On the bright side, my degenerate tilted ass drank a few beers and won a $500+20 at the end of that night. That was not a very smart thing to do, but if you factor that in I'm only about $300 poorer because of this experiment.
Overall, the play of my opponents was pretty terrible. I butted heads with a few regulars on UB and held my own, but mostly I just got destroyed by donkies who never ever folded and I was unable to exploit them. I'm not convinced that I'm a losing player at this level, but my 60% goal was probably a little high given my lack of experience and the amount of luck involded in these things.
I think I could probably win 55% if I did it over again(which is $825 profit at UB) while practicing better self-discipline and having a little more luck on my side. I think I'll probably try a batch of $50+2.5's first though, I still have plenty to learn. 1/11/2007 8:03:27 PM |

Yeah that was fucking brutal. Dropped $300 in about an hour. Lost an 85/15 hand and then got hit on a two outer to lose my initial 200 within 2 or 3 hands of each other. Finally stacked off my last $75 against aces when I was almost even money post flop (56/44). Knew he had aces or kings, called his preflop raise with 5s 6s hoping I'd flop big. You know, something like 578, which is exactly what came off. I push, he sits back, says, "you must have hit a set" he thinks for a bit, then says, "Well, if you hit your set I guess I'll pay you off." Nothing you can do there except hope you hit your draw. I was pretty pissed when I left.1/11/2007 8:45:49 PM |

IF anyone is interested there is a $220 live HORSE tourney in Charlotte Feb 3rd.
I played my first live game in Charlotte yesterday with the same people who organized the HORSE tourney and let me tell you how bad these people are.
We were playing a 5/10 mixed game and once it switched to LO8 I could tell I was the only one who had any real experience playing. One guy tried to use 3 of his hole cards at showdown against me, and another time a guy tried to argue that A2 wasnt the nut low on a KJ865 board. It's great.
Anyway, if anyone wants to play let me know. They are starting everyone out with 10k in chips and have a really good format for it. 1/14/2007 3:16:17 PM |

January 17, 2007 - 10:51AM AdvertisementAdvertisement
Two founders of a company that processes Internet gambling transactions were arrested and charged with funneling billions of US dollars in gambling proceeds to overseas betting operations, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.
The charges mark the latest in a series of crackdowns by the federal government against the online gambling industry.
The charges against the former Neteller PLC directors, John David Lefebvre, 55, and Stephen Eric Lawrence, 46, both Canadian citizens, were contained in two criminal complaints unsealed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan on Monday, U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia said in a statement.
The prosecutor said the men knew when they took their company public that its activities were illegal. FBI Assistant Director Mark J. Mershon said the multibillion-dollar online gambling industry is "a colossal criminal enterprise masquerading as legitimate business."
Neteller is an Internet payment services company that has grown in popularity as an increasing number of credit card companies have begun refusing to accept payments to online gambling sites.
Neteller essentially acts as a middleman between gamblers and offshore betting operations. For example, a gambler who wants to place bets at offshore sports books can fund an account with Neteller, which in turn will transfer the money to the betting sites. Prosecutors say Neteller facilitated the transfer of billions of US dollars of illegal gambling proceeds.
Lefebvre was arrested Monday in Malibu, Calif., and was scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Lawrence, who lives in the Bahamas, was arrested Monday in the U.S. Virgin Islands and will appear in federal court on Wednesday.
Peter Neiman, a lawyer for Lawrence, said he had no comment. A lawyer for Lefebvre did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.
In 1999, the men founded Neteller, which is based in the Isle of Man and is publicly traded in the United Kingdom.
The company began processing Internet gambling transactions in 2000.
Lawrence left the company's board of directors in October, while Lefebvre left in December 2005, prosecutors said. Together, the men owned as much as 35 percent of the company's outstanding shares.
Prosecutors cited Neteller's 2005 annual report in saying that Lawrence and Lefebvre enabled the company to provide payment services to more than 80 percent of worldwide gaming merchants.
Garcia noted that the company acknowledged when it went public that U.S. law prohibited people from promoting certain forms of gambling, including Internet gambling and transmitting funds that are known to have been derived from criminal activity.
Lefebvre and Lawrence also conceded in the company's offering documents that they were risking prosecution by the U.S. government, he said.
Prosecutors said Neteller in 2005 alone processed more than $7.3 billion in financial transactions, 95 percent of which was derived from money transfers involving Internet gambling.
Lawrence and Lefebvre were charged with conspiring to transfer funds with the intent to promote illegal gambling, and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

20 years in jail? seems a little harsh to me
Seems like the only thing they might be found guilty of is enabling people to withdraw money without paying taxes. Although I would have thought that would be up to the individual to declare it, not them.
Besides...if it's only the american govt prosecuting them, they'll probably only be arrested if they set foot on american soil. They'll probably be fine if they just stay out of the country 1/17/2007 4:27:12 PM |

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- U.K. online money transfer business Neteller Plc said that it has sought immediate and temporary suspension of its shares after two of its former directors, Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre were detained by U.S. authorities on Monday. Neteller said the suspension has been requested pending clarification of the situation and added that neither of the pair has any current position with or connection to the firm other than as shareholders. Neteller, which is a popular service used to transfer money to online gambling sites, said it has not received any communication from U.S. authorities. The detention follows the arrest of senior officials from U.K. gambling firms BetOnSports and Sportingbet in 2006. " |
