interesting that ESPN makes that prediction, yet shows that Clemson hasn't even offered..

Latest intel is that he's got it down to UCLA and Clemson right now. He also said that he thought our coaches were too annimated, yet he's fallen in love with Dabo... 1/24/2013 11:24:41 AM |

He also said he wanted to go somewhere where he could compete for immediate starting time...so yeah, that kid seems to be changing his criteria all the time. No way he starts at either one of those programs year 1, and I think he gets recruited over at Clemson with Kelly there and they already have a top QB signed for 2014. 1/24/2013 11:48:22 AM |

lol his dad seems to think Asiantii is gonna be so good that the 2014 QB, Watson, isn't even gonna come.
This article is pretty painful to read in terms of how it's written, but it's pretty much all direct quotes from his dad.
http://www.goupstate.com/article/20130120/PSPORTS02/130129980
Quote : | "QB Asiantii Woulard of Orange Park, FL, who perhaps surprised some analysts by winning the Elite 11 competition last summer, would surprise some people again if he decides to play his college football again his father said Sunday night. "Some people think if he goes there he'll be good but they'll switch him to wide receiver," Mike Woulard said. "I'm telling you, if there's a level playing field, it's going to be a problem for somebody. It (moving to WR) ain't going to happen. I tell you, DeShaun Watson (Clemson 2014 QB commitment), he's not going to come. If Asiantii chooses to go to Clemson and they start raving about him, he's going to way, 'What's the point.' I'm confident of that. A lot of people don't know it yet, but you'll see. I don't know any kid who would come in there with (Chad) Kelly and a kid like Asiantii and the other guy (Cole Stoudt). If he's that good, he'd probably say, 'What's the point.'" Of course, Woulard has not made his decision yet, and UCLA coaches are coming in Monday on the red eye to meet with him. But the Clemson visit did strengthen the Tigers with him. "He said it was a really, really, really great experience," his father said. "He enjoyed meeting Sammy (Watkins) and Cole. He and (WR recruit) James Clark hung out together. He wants to make his decision sooner than later. He will announce it on ESPN on Signing Day." Right now it's Clemson, UCLA and Kentucky under consideration. "I can't say if Clemson is out front," Mr. Woulard said. "I don't want to put any words in his mouth. He loves the people there. He said Death Valley was like no other place he's ever seen." Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is scheduled to be in on Thursday for a meeting with the Woulards. They have not decided if Asiantii will make a visit to UCLA this weekend." |

His dad can believe what he wants, think most scouts agree that Watson is more polished as a QB now and he's a year younger than him. I think Woulard will be converted to WR if they do indeed keep Watson in the fold. Many still speculate Watson will waiver if Morris leaves for another job opportunity before he gets there. 1/24/2013 12:36:37 PM |

Quote : | "Syracuse and North Carolina State are battling to land former Northern Illinois commitment Mitch Kimble (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville Community). One of the two teams appears to have an edge at the moment, and a decision should be made in short order.
"(Syracuse head coach Scott) Shafer being there made me feel like they truly want me," Kimble told John Garcia Jr. of Scout.com. "My parents really enjoyed their visit and sitting down and talking with them. They think Syracuse is a great fit for me, and they will support my decision no matter what." Kimble is slated to take an official visit to North Carolina State this weekend. Syracuse might have a slight lead, but North Carolina State and its new head coach Dave Doeren certainly has an opportunity to close the gap. Kimble will then make his decision after the trip. ---
Quarterback Mitch Kimble is committed to Northern Illinois, but the Huskies are no longer his top option. A pair of ACC schools have risen to the top. North Carolina State and Syracuse are now under consideration with one leading the pack. Syracuse is now the leader to land Kimble according to John Garcia Jr. of Scout.com. “I haven’t talked to the (Northern Illinois) coaches yet, but for right now I’m still committed,” Kimble told Garcia. “There’s a possibility it changes. I’m actually taking a trip to North Carolina State this weekend. It’s just Syracuse and N.C. State." New North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren could be a factor in Kimble's final decision. Doeren originally recruited Kimble to Northern Illinois before accepting his new position. Kimble fits the offense, whether its in Dekalb or Raleigh. Although, academics appear to be the primary concern for Kimble. And that's where Syracuse has the edge. "...academics are big, going to a school that offers a good engineering program, which is what I want to go in," Kimble said. "Syracuse definitely has that and N.C. State has that too so it’ll be a tough decision.” " |

Quote : | "UPDATE: One of the most sought after recruits late in this year's recruiting cycle has been four-star quarterback Asiantii Woulard (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park). Woulard reportedly whittled down his list of schools to a pair of programs.
Clemson and a late push from UCLA have put these two programs at the forefront of Woulard's recruitment according to Phil Kornblut of PalmettoSports.com. Clemson is believed to be the favorite, but UCLA is closing the gap after a recent in-house visit. “They brought the house, UCLA,” Woulard's father, Mike, told Kornblut. “It was very informative. (Asiantee) listened to what they had to say and took it to heart.” UCLA has impressed Woulard, and yet it's still Clemson's race to lose" |

Jones is the #29 safety according to Rivals, and had a strong senior year with 95 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 INTs, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.
I was hoping we would pick up a commitment from Jonathan Alston and/or Brisly Estime but no dice. Alston is going to take an OV to UNC next weekend before deciding.

it's official
Quote : | "When you're 6 feet tall and only weigh 165 pounds, you have to be a pretty special athlete to draw offers from multiple big-time programs. Fortunately for Marcus Edmond (Hopkins, S.C./Lower Richland), he is that kind of athlete, able to pick and choose from a variety of suitors. And this weekend, he picked and chose to switch his commitment from the North Carolina State Wolfpack to the Clemson Tigers. Edmond made the switch after an official visit to Clemson. ESPN calls him, "a prospect who would be a very good fit for the triple option attack and would have to be employed in this type of scheme to remain under center. He is a quick and shifty runner that is serviceable as a passer, especially at the high school level. Is built like a wide receiver with a lean, wiry frame and we anticipate this where he will end up if not at safety." " |

With a new staff you expect a certain number of commits to leave, but I was expecting a bit of a balance with the new staff bringing in players they might have been on already by selling the "we still want you and now it is at a bigger and better program." Dayes and Peek have been the only big losses so far. My biggest concern about the new staff so far is if theyre recruiting the right players instead of just highly regarded guys. Brisset will be a big tell there when he plays next season. TOB was a great evaluator and horrible salesman. It's hard to get a good read this early but my initial impression is that this staff will be decent salesmen and ok evaluators.
