Or they determined that the henchman's vest was activated by a phone inside the airport or something - either way, i don't think the guy in the yellow tie didn't have anything to do with it.

Not necessarily, in this case President Keller was considered unfit for duty. In Season 4 Logan was called in to invoke the 25th Amendment since the president was incapacitated.

The amendment for this case states that president may resume his duties by written declaration in four days of the amendment being invoked if he has the capacity to resume office. Congress and such has 21 day after receiving the letter to decide whether or not the President is capable of resuming his duties. Since season 5 occurs months later there is no way for President Keller to come back to office without an election.

Here what happened is that CTU withheld the information of Jack being their informant from the White House until that kid was revealed to be the next victim. Bill tells Logan while Walt is in the room that Jack is helping them (remember at this time the White House still assumes Jack is the assassinator of Palmer.) Logan flips out about having information withheld, Walt gets on his cell and informs the guy masterminding this operation and in turn the mastermind calls the head terrorist at the airport to let him know Jack is inside and that kid means something to him ( I don't remember them explaining the terrorist knew the kid was linked to Jack). The terrorist then resets the bomb codes and uses some type for frequency emitter to scramble Jack's phone to draw him out of hiding.

^ it's possible, but if I was in Bill's position it would seem a little more obvious that Jack was drawn out after they informed the White House, Jack wouldn't have a way of knowing this though. Especially since they hid the info from them and the people within CTU all knew Jack was giving them their inside information. Also, Spencer work with Chloe off protocol to detonate the bomb, though Bill is still unaware of this I think. However, since Spencer has already admitted to working with Walt now, I am sure at this point they know their mole is within the White House.

Walt is the President's Chief of Staff and therefore the President's closest confidant. If you watched the last episode he was the guy who attacked the First Lady (though I am not sure she realizes this), has been in communication with the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks and the guy who planted Bauer’s attacker in CTU with help from Spencer.

I don't see how, the guy gave all the information Jack needed, the guy even admitted that he never met the person who handed him the info (even though he could have been lying) I didn't see anything wrong with not trying to take the guy in for further questioning. Plus the scene helped to display Jack's separation from his former role as a CTU agent and DoD liaison.

Well there was only one assassin so far, the guy that killed Palmer. If you want to talk about the hit man sent to kill Jack, then you specify him as such. Jack isn’t a politically important person so Jack’s death wouldn’t be considered an assassination.

Btt, it is plausible that it wouldn’t have been as necessary to kill the hit man, but let’s look at the situation Jack was in at the time, it was either him or the hit man. Jack won that battle.
