^^ yeah the skeleton key seems like a gift for people who don't like the lockpick game.

I'm getting better at it now that I have enough lockpicks for effective practice. I can get through a very hard lock without breaking a pick if I take my time. I like the lockpick game, I just couldn't ever get any practice at it, because I kept getting 2 lockpicks and then breaking them.

BTW, I found something fun that everyone prolly already knows about. After the gladiator quest, when the adoring fan shows up, if you ask him to follow you, you can pick his pocket and he doesn't care. There's a bug where his 3 gold doesn't go away, but the real fun part is that you can keep picking his pocket and your sneak skill will go up. So there's a free way to get really sneaky.

Yea I still have the fan and that other cat following me around. When someone attacks we both summon creatures so then I just stand back and let the four of them handle my lightwork.

That didn't work while I was tryin to obtain umbra. I had to cheat and lure her to the city so the guards would kill her. Even then I was having to run for my life

I'm getting PWNT in the defense of bruma.

I'm level 16 with all daedric enchanted armor, but I'm still getting owned.

I guess I'm just not doing enough micromanagement.

After you get into the great gate are there a shitton of enemies? I'm trying to save my soul stones.

I got all mine in the oblivion gates.

I've also got a Dremora Claymore that I enchanted with a sigil stone for +15 shock damage.

I named it THE SHOCKER

usually i've found my armor throughout all the main and side quests. i did however, find a gorgeous set of magical armor at 1 of the stores in the imperial city and bought it due to the amount of things it protected against, reflected, etc.

I would say so and I normally dont like games like this. I can easily play 4-6 hours at a time.

It's pretty nice because it's easy to just load it up and play for 15 minutes and then save, but you'll always want to play a lot longer.

Yeah, I beat it yesterday too. The dragon armor isn't what I'd hoped it might be though I'm only using like 3 pieces of it.

well, I went off and did side quests while it was being made. I'm not sure if I want to keep working on the other quests in the game to beef up my character, or just start a new one with what I know now about what I want my main skills to be. Marksman and block are definitely not gonna be on the list, and I'll probably add Armorer, because it's a pain in the ass to not be able to repair enchanted items.

armorer is a biggy, i dont see whats so bad with block. mine went up pretty quick and it is always useful to have it where it wont fatigue or break ur shit.

I just never used it much because in the time it took for my guy to actually pull his shield around for a block, then move it back down so I could attack, I could have hit the enemy twice with my sword, which resulted in me coming out of the battle quicker and with as much health as if I'd bothered with blocking.

shrug, when u have it high it can counter attack and knock them back thus letting you get in a power shot easily without fear of getting hit.

yeah block is a biggie for me.

Especially when using two-handed weapons. Block + claymore == teh wins. You just have to be patient.

Also, Is the dragon armor enchanted already? If not I've got about 12 different ascendent sigil stones just waiting to enchant something.

all the gates around are part of the oblivion main quest, i thought, when you had to go and close them to get aid for bruma from each city.

you do have to close them to get aid for bruma, but you don't have to get aid from all the cities to continue on the quest.

I only had like two cities help, and while the defense part was kinda hard, I managed to pwnt a shitload of daedra with this Apotheosis staff and run into the main gate.

I think there are a few scattered around the world that aren't part of the Aid for Bruma side quest. Basically, if you don't go close them all, I think the Sigil Stones for all of them end up in your inventory after you beat the game. I seem to have a lot more Sigil Stones than I can account for, based on the number of gates I closed. Still, the extra Oblivion Gates are a good place to go treasure-hunting.

syrinx is right there are random ones just around the countryside. i was unaware you didnt have to get aid for each city though. i wouldnt have bothered doing them all as it was getting old.

[Edited on June 12, 2006 at 5:34 PM. Reason : ^ supposedly the ones you get are random though, so im not sure how that'd apply ur theory on stones]

I'm just sayin', I prolly closed 10 or so gates, and I ended up with closer to 20 Sigil Stones. I figured that was what happened, but it's all speculative.

I didn't get ANY sigil stones when I bet the game.

I'm wondering if they are just laying outside the now closed oblivion gates... hrmm.

nah that is correct.

I am at the part where I need a deadra artifact. I already have the skeleton key but there is no way in hell I am giving that up. Where is an easy one to get?

I think I should be reading that guide I have

or you could just ask the guy and he'll tell you exactly what he wants. perhaps using the guide has drained all common sense from you. this game tells you EXACTLY where to go for everything except small side quests like the vamp cure.

I used the online Oblivion wiki to help with certain quests where you're sent out "just to find something random" and not really be told where to find it. I can't stand just wandering around looking for shit.

I'll admit though that I milked the Count of Skingrad for all he's worth (1/2 mil in gold)
