I have not seen anything about a demo but that would be nice. The PS3 version is supposed to have some additional characters and content I think so they might make a demo.

^ Additional characters and content for Street Fighter? I would be surprised if that actually happened. Would definitely be awesome though.

Can't freaking wait any longer for CAC! I think I might have to buy some controllers to have some 4 player action.

^ No Spider Man 3.

Yeah, CAC really needs to come out this week. We will probably get Super Rub a Dub sometime this month as well. The game and demo have already been on the European store for over a month.

^ Yes, but heard Super Rub... is one of the worst games ever. haha, oh well. They said the same thing about Cash Guns Chaos and I actually thought that game was pretty fun. The demo anyway, I never actually bought the game. But I thought about it!

Yeah IGN did give it a low rating but I read people on the forums who thought it was really fun. I at least want to try out the demo.

The Playstation Eye is Nearly Upon Us. Dr. Richard Marks Takes Us Behind the Scenes of its Birth.
Quote :
"The most important thing this means is that we can get clean voice data into the PS3.It allows the device to effectively "listen" in a certain direction. In our case, we would listen in the direction of the person playing the game. Previously, the only way to get clean voice data was using a headset worn by the player; now, without wearing a headset, players will be able to talk freely. The device is especially good at removing ambient sounds like traffic and wind noises from outside, the whirring of fans, etc. Also, there is special processing to remove the game sounds generated by the PS3 itself."

Calling All Cars delayed AGAIN! Good lord this thing is getting delayed a whole lot. Doesn't seem like good business practice as people are just losing interest I guess, but I'm sure Jaffe knows that.

According to the article there were some bugs that had to be fixed, so that's what's going on. Oh well.

Rampart tomorrow as well, with up to 4 player online support

I used to love this game in the arcade - can't wait to fire it up again. I'm willing to bet it will be the worst graphics ever on the PS3, but that don't matter

Actually, here's some news:

"David Jaffe's crackdown on criminals, epic games and disc-based content, Calling All Cars, will become available on the US PlayStation Network today. Having seen its fair share of delays and drama, the high-speed, cartoon cops 'n robbers clash is undoubtedly the PSN's biggest and most scrutinized release thus far. Engage in all the hootenanny, hijinks and hubbub online for a $9.99 fee. "

Hope this is true!

^ Probably won't be out until the Fall, but that's just my guess. Here's what else is supposed to come out today. Found it on a blog, can't find the link:

Quote :
"Play cops ‘n’ robbers on your PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) system this Thursday as Sony Computer Entertainment America will offer the much-anticipated PS3 exclusive, Calling All Cars™, on the PLAYSTATION®Store. Developed by Incognito Entertainment and overseen by the Spike TV Video Game Awards – 2005 Designer of the Year, David Jaffe, Calling All Cars was built specifically to take advantage of PS3 hardware, running at 1080p High Definition* at 60 frames per second for both offline and online gameplay, in either single-player or four-player split-screen.

Other new additions to the PLAYSTATION Store this week include the arcade classic, Rampart™, which is downloadable in its entirety, a video for the PS3-exclusive Warhawk™, and a trailer for Burnout™ Paradise.

Below are the details of these exciting new offerings:

Calling All Cars Full Game ($9.99): Calling All Cars is a high-octane, fast-action game of cops ‘n' robbers from the creative director of the Twisted Metal® franchise and the original God of War®, David Jaffe. Take on the role of a bounty hunter careening around a stylish cartoon world on the hunt for criminals on the loose. With more than 10 vehicles and four different levels to choose from, Calling All Cars combines demolition derby style action, crazy weapon pickups, humor, and a throwback to classic arcade games.

Rampart Full Game ($4.99): Defeat enemy ships while preventing your opponent from damaging castle walls! In this classic arcade title, strategy is the key to victory as you prepare for battle, build and repair your territories, and fire away at enemies.

Warhawk Video (free): Learn about air combat and preview your arsenal of weapons in the latest video from Warhawk, the first multiplayer, fully immersive online-only game available this summer exclusively for the PS3 system.

Burnout Paradise Trailer (free): Get a sneak peak at EA’s gorgeous racing title with this new trailer.

Rampage™ Video (free): Prepare to re-live all of the incredible monster mashing mayhem in this Rampage World Tour video!"

^ Everything I have seen indicates it will be a normally priced $60 game on blu-ray in stores so if you are expecting a $10 price tag or something like that I don't think it is going to happen.

I would agree that Warhawk is my most anticipated game as well. Followed closely by Ratchet & Clank and LittleBigPlanet. The flight mechanics in Warhawk look so good and all of the playtest reviews I have read so far say it is really fun.

The last I read was it is getting released on PSN and Blu-ray at the same time. I could see them possibly pricing it at say $40 but I don't think they would go under that. I don't think there is any way Warhawk is going to get released this summer though because I have seen in interviews they want to do a public beta of the game before it is released so there will probably be several stages of the beta. I think most of the big name games are going to all get crowded into a late fall release right before Christmas.

CAC is totally rad! Super fun online and offline, but definitely meant to be multiplayer. Getting into a game online though can be a pain and its a bit buggy in the lobby I think, but other than that, when you are in the game its just fantastic and the games start super fast. Love it! For only 10 bucks its fantastic.

Calling All Cars is the best $10 I've ever spent. I think it is full 1080P as well. Anyways, the multiplayer is total mayhem. The voice chat is probably the best for a PS3 game yet (sad that it is on a $10 game, when the $60 games dont perform anywhere near as well).

Q&A with Evolution Studios' technical director Scott Kirkland - Page 1
Quote :
"Scott Kirkland: During the development of MotorStorm our team learned a great deal about PlayStation3 exploitation and production process refinement. While much of this knowledge fed directly into our systems, some items had to be put on hold due to their more radical nature. As we progress, these areas will be subjected to some serious re-factoring to provide increased performance both at runtime and during development.

SPU usage is a good example. The progressive development of corresponding debugging and profiling tools made thorough exploitation of this powerful resource quite challenging for the less technically biased members of the team. In the aftermath of MotorStorm, with mature tools at our disposal, we’ve been developing mechanisms to make the PPU and SPU’s power and parallelism far more accessible to our entire team, re-thinking data organization and algorithms in the process. MotorStorm only uses between 15 and 20 percent of available SPU resource, so we’re aiming to achieve a 5 fold increase in SPU performance, which should allow us to do some awesome stuff!"

MotorStorm v1.2 Coming

"For its next official patch, slated to release on June 7, the game will add a brand new Time Attack mode that allows users to race against their own ghost in an effort to best their most efficient times.

As an added bonus, the fastest ghosts will automatically be uploaded to the global leaderboards so that others can compete against them. Additionally, phantom opponents aren't limited to just one -- in total players can race against seven different specters in a single race; these ghosts include ones made by the user, the previously-mentioned "best time" ghosts, or special developer-made "Evolution Ghosts" made up of a range of different skill levels."

GRAW2 to feature 14 additional multiplayer maps
http://www.ubi.com/UK/Games/Info.aspx?pId=5587
Quote :
"Key Differences:

* SixAxis features : Controller features used for Mitchell & Cross-com control
* SP : Drive the supports (drone, M.U.LE) with the SixAxis functionality
* SP/MP : Change Mitchell stances with the SixAxis
* SP : change the Rules of Engagement with the SixAxis
* Consistency increased between SP & MP: Scope, Movement, Aiming…
* PS3 specifics adaptation of controls: Menus, Shoot button…
* 14 additional maps resulting in a total of 32 MP maps!!!

Multiplayer Additional Information

* 32 new adversarial multiplayer maps up to 16 players, an expanded arsenal of multinational weapons, character customisation options, new optimizing re-spawn system, new female operatives and hundreds of new game mode options are available.
* 2 new coop modes, “Evasion” and “Exfiltration”, to vary the game experience in multiplayer.
* 6 missions co-op campaign with a fully immersive experience and storyline. Featuring open-ended play that rewards teamwork as you play with up to sixteen players."

I might actually care about this game if it were not Ubisoft handling it because I know it is just going to be a terrible 360 port that runs with constant frame hickups.

Man, I really hope that firmware 2.0 is real.

There are TONS of features on there that I've been dying for... So many, in fact, that it looks like someone maybe took a list of the most requested features and fit it in. If that's the case, they did a good job because the wording is spot-on.

I don't see anything that 'doesn't make sense' on that list.

I'm hoping that "The method of selecting an output resolution has been changed in [Video Output Settings] under [Display Settings]." means we'll be able to force the output to 720p once and for all.
