I normally don't see a car that has been tracked as a negative at all, but... there's an EVO on ebay with:

and

This of course is accompanied by the following gem:
Quote :
"I know how it is - hitting the Place Bid button is like squeezing the trigger of a gun - there's no turning back. And as soon as you do it you start thinking “why in the hell did I just bid on this car?!?!” The answer will be self-explanatory the first time you launch it at 5000rpm under full boost and feel all four wheels spin for a split second before grabbing the tarmac and slamming you back in your seat causing you to look in your rear view mirror to spot the freight train that surely must be pushing you. Except that you have to pull your eyes back to the road in front of you because everything is going by in a blur; 8,000rpm shiftpoints are coming almost quicker than you can think, and you’re running out of street.

When you finally pull over your hands are shaking and your heart is pounding in your chest…..it occurs to you that you can now smoke every V8 in your neighborhood. "

I am so impressed...

with how much that giant fucking sled of an Evo weighs, you'd think they had made the pedals out of lead.

On top of that they were probably made in China.

had a test drive today from what i believe is a genuinely interested buyer. i think this one might actually come through.

the funny thing is, it was more of an Evo demo from me than a test drive...she didn't actually take the wheel, because she can't drive a manual transmission! HAHA

her fiance is going to check it out next week when he gets home.

hahaha, what a helluva way to learn how to drive a standard.

Hope the sale finally goes through for you Duke. i've been reading on the evom forums that for a lot of people lately the prices of evo 8s and 9s have barely decreased in value over the last year, some blame it on the X but either way, the resale values seem to be doing better than expected. Shouldn't have any problems getting your asking price after all...

On another note, I installed a new CF lip on my Evo this morning since I was a deuchebag and ran the stock one over a rock at a gravel parking lot a few weeks ago. I don't plan on selling my baby any time soon:

well, i had to come down on the price some.

i dropped it to $26,900, and we agreed on $26,500.

it's a IX with sun/sound/leather and HID, and 24,750 miles (and about a 2/3 or 3/4 worn--depending on how far you push them...they're almost to the wear bars--set of Azenis RT615s).

My price had been right in line with the rest of them, but over about 10 months, I'd gotten about 3-4 lowball offers over email and one joyrider. I finally dropped the price to lower than any other comparable IX I could find within a couple hundred miles. Even then, this was the first interest I've had in several weeks.

Still, I think it's a pretty reasonable selling price for both parties.

yeah, i think so.

awesome car, purely as a driving experience, and very practical too. expensive clutch jobs at 20k and an interior that sounds like a baby rattle were a big turn off. very cheap looking and feeling interior, too. i understand it's built to a price point, so i don't hold that against the car. the rattles really aggravated me, though.

I was unimpressed with what I've seen and read about regarding Mitsu's dealership service and especially being very quick to deny warranty claims and void warranties altogether. I likewise did not have a good feeling about the quality and dependability of the car.

Maybe if the prices drop off significantly, I'll roll the dice and put up with the shortcomings of another one. I think one with basic bolt ons (enough to run high 11s) and basic suspension work and a set of aggressive brake pads and even more aggressive tires would be one helluva awesome car to drive. For the time being, I'm gonna go with something else, and probably something substantially less expensive for the next couple of years, as I'll be spending so much time deployed that I can't justify making any sizeable payments on a car.

^^nope, still got mine.

got 45,000 miles on it and still factory 'everything' minus brake pads, rotors, tires of course.

Don't see how some of you have had to change things like clutch with such little mileage.

I still want one, just not while they cost much more than an e36 M3... For the price though, it sure comes with better brakes/seats and stiffer suspension...

had fun taking the evo to an autocross this weekend with matt's rx-8. We waited for you Ahmet, what happened?! Last we checked i finished second (out of maybe 20ish?) out of the noob class to a girl in a wrx :/ I'm surprised to have done so well even if it was in the novice class. The car really did all the work, I admittedly drove like shit. There was a hairpin U turn that owned me 4 out of 5 runs.

pic:

tripod ftw:

I pretty much drifted the entire last run. Not on purpose, i just need to learn to drive. It was the funnest but slowest time of the day by like 2 seconds:

I love E36 M3s...I've thought about buying one on a couple of occasions. The Evo ought to cost more, though. the newest E36 M3s are 10 years old now. Also, the Evo will kick the everloving bejeezus out of any E36 (although I'm sure you know this).

that seems like a decent price if it's not ate up with mileage or fucked up in some way, although i haven't really priced STi's in a long time. When I bought my Evo, I wanted an STi...I liked the looks of it better, I liked the power delivery and sound of the engine, I liked it better on paper in general...but the Evo handles sooooo much better. It's a huge difference. Also, the IX will murder an STi once the modding starts.

Absolutely. I've never seen any other car that is SO easy to drive fast. I guess it rewards good technique, but it will let you get away with almost anything, and still be fast to boot.

depends on where you're going with the modding... stock turbo... yes the evo has a bigger stock turbo other than that it doesn't really matter which you get....

^^^ the IX will run 11.90s not only on the stock turbo, but for only about $1000-1300 worth of bolt-ons (TBE, boost controller, ECU flash, and air filter and/or intake)...and that's on pump gas.

I'm pretty sure it'll run at least 11.5 on the stock turbo for, ohh, $4000 or so. say $4500 to be safe. i'd like to see a combination of parts to make the STi that fast for similar money.

Even besides the fact that it annihilates the STi from a handling perspective, I think that the Evo is a pretty clear winner just in terms of straight-line performance for the money.
