try "lovely, still" if you want to watch a romance movie with your girl (or boy i guess). great story, even better twist.

ATTENTION NETFLIX USERS:

Ive got a question. We just signed up for the free 30-day trial of instant watch netflix through my PS3 (we used to have netflix 3-4 years ago and got tired of the whole mailing DVDs thing). Is the supply of movies available for "instant watching" really as small as it looks on my PS3? Granted we are getting this for free, and after the month ends it will only be $8 a month, but it seems like every show/movie I try to watch is "DVD only" (Entourage, for example, is DVD only, all 7 seasons).

If I pay the extra $2 a month for unlimited DVDs, does that increase the amount of shows/movies we can watch instantly? Or does that only allow us access to the mail order DVD supply?

There is a shit ton of stuff on instant watch. Go online to check it out (quicker and easier to navigate). I'd say that 90% of What we net flix is online, and we are pretty good about sending back in our DVDs

but is it all older stuff on instant watch? Like, can you watch Entourage instantly? Or Avatar? Those seem like a couple newer, popular shows/movies that should be available instantly.

Also, how much do you pay a month for your subscription?

It really depends. I mean there are some older things, but there are some newer things too. I'm watching arrested development, Lindsey is watching Greek, and we are both watching weeds now- and there are about 85 things left on our instant cue (more than is on the DVD cue)

so you cant watch entourage or avatar instantly, even with an upgraded subscription?

I dont mind paying a couple more extra dollars to watch new movies instantly. But I'm not going to pay extra for a movie that comes through the mail when I can pick it up for $1 at the red box up the road.

I dont really have any desire to watch older movies, but I would like to watch some tv show series. it just doesnt make sense to me to have Weeds and Californication, but not Entourage and Sopranos.

Most of those will go to instant after a while. Avatar especially may take a while just because it's so popular. But I waited long enough on a few of my "chick flick" movies because I knew Brett didn't wanna watch them, and now they are on instant. I guess it's just about how badly do you want to watch something. Also I was upset when I was going through Dexter that the first 2 seasons were instant but season 3 was DVD only.....I hated having to wait because there for a while I was watching 5-6 episodes in a day and could watch it on my computer while Brett watch football.

<--- is also watching Greek right now too hahaha. so lame.

i think the instant stuff sometimes changes, too. because i remember seeing movies on there and adding it to my instant queue and then going back through to see it was only on dvd. and vice versa. and shows like party down were on there and then got taken off and then put bag on again. i don't know...i can't really figure it out.

i know they add stuff to your instant queue as it becomes available instantly. in the last few days we've had movies/shows added to our instant queue from our dvd queue because they are now available to play online.

cool, thanks Lindsey and Cody. I just really wanted to watch entourage (i've watched the first season already and would love to instantly watch seasons 2-7) so its pretty lame that all 7 seasons are DVD only.

I'm not sure if we will extend our membership past the free first month trial. I was doing a search Friday night and searched just for titles that started with the letter B, and only like 6 or 7 titles showed up in their whole instant watch database. Something either isnt right about that search, or they really have a very limited amount of movies available.

^4 something is wrong, they have something like 10,000 titles available for instant watch. you can search for instant watch movies here: http://www.instantwatchdb.com/

It makes sense if you stop and think about it. Weeds and Californication are both Showtime shows. Entourage and Sopranos are both HBO shows. So maybe it has something to do with HBO? a quick google search of "netflix hbo" sheds light on the reasoning -- HBO won't let Netflix put their shows on instant watch. Showtime was willing to play ball. Also, HBO has its own subscription based streaming service. If they let Netflix stream their shows, they'd be competing with netflix (which has much more to offer) for their subscribers.

I think it's HBO on Demand. But I don't believe you watch it on your computer...but I could be wrong on that one.

oh. well then that is unexciting haha.

i have on demand but...they already took off the episodes of stuff i didn't get to see i guess they usually only have stuff like boardwalk empire and east bound and down on demand when the shows are in season (and like a little while after, but not long). and i'm assuming they'll come back (like true blood did) right before the next season premieres so people can catch up.

The Exam

It’s kind of a psychological sci-fi thriller. The description is blatantly wrong, the movie was much better than I expected.

it's called hbo go. http://www.hbogo.com

looks like it's a free service if you're already an HBO subscriber. but it has to be offered by your cable provider.

^^its basically about this fictional college called Blue Mountain State which has the best college football program in the country...so its about the players not going to class and partying all the time, the coach being a hardass, etc

its kinda like

+

its definitely a "guy show"

Johnny Be Good was an old movie, probably dating myself with that one...I posted Son of the Beach because of the gratuitious T&A throughout, but its a football show

but yeah basically like a funny college guy type football show

they have episodes about cheating on NCAA drug tests, cheating in class, partying all the time, getting venereal diseases, just a bunch of shit

Thad is a trip
