Think Johnson was injury-related. I guess Whitehead is available now haha.

Yeah, so now Graham will only be fighting Byrd and Garrett for a roster spot most likely.

Looking through the stat sheet from last night & noticed TJ didn't have any catches. Is he still on the roster?

He was targeted in the endzone and made a pretty lackluster attempt. Not a great night considering Byrd balled out.

Matt Dayes with a TD for the Browns

Mike Glennon looked like hot garbage, while Trubisky lit it up

To be fair to Glennon...he was going against the 1st team of one of the best secondaries in the league.

He didn't do much to help himself though.

The real mvp will be Glennon's agent securing that much guaranteed money to ride the bench.

yeah, he's getting paid either way. obviously, i'm sure he wants to start and be great. but holding a clipboard and collecting a nice pay check without getting your head banged around ain't too bad either.

Has any qb this talented ever had worse luck with just getting to play...

Huge recruit... gets stuck behind a young breakout qb... is fortunate to start two years, it was nearly only 1...

Drafted to Tampa and gets a handful of games before they stumble on #1 overall pick... then Tampa refuses to trade him... now gets contract from Chicago and they stunningly trade to make him a dead QB walking...

I find it odd that glennon wouldn't be much better than trubisky this season. I think the pressure is probably getting to him

Glennon lack of mobility was a problem in college and I think it will be a huge problem in the NFL.

Hes the prototypical 70s -90s big arm, tall, qb. But those Kerry Collins, drew Bledsoe statue qbs are easier for defenses to get pressure on because they know where to send the rush. It's just much more of a timing game now and glennon never displayed remarkable accuracy or timing on short passes in college. His receivers were so bad though it was hard to gauge exactly what he was.

I am really surprised more people don't fall in love with that cannon though. If you gave him a real Ted ginn type burner wide out he'd be good for one bomb a week probably.

Glennon is the guy I think could have excelled in Shanahan's offense in SF, but he's clearly waiting on Cousins.

I don't know why anyone was shocked about what happened in Denver. Glennon would have lit up the 3rd string DBs like Trubisky was.

The goal for Glennon this year should be to play as well as he can and hope some QB desperate team(like SF) trades for him next year when the Bears go with Trubisky. I mean Drew Brees was a dead QB walking and he ended up having a pretty nice career after moving on from SD.

did you really just compare glennon to brees? brees was a pro bowler in SD.

Brees had a year as a back-up and then 2 garbage years with the Chargers. Then the Chargers traded Eli Manning #1 overall and flipped him for Rivers.

It wasn't until they landed Rivers that Brees became a good QB. His 2002 and 2003 stats were garbage and then he blew up in 2004 and 2005 after Rivers arrived. Then he messed up his shoulder and the Chargers had to make a choice and stuck with Rivers.

Had Rivers not had the huge contract disputes he might have started his first year over Brees since it appeared the franchise had given up on him. It worked out great for both obviously.

Brees stats:
2002: 60.8% completion, 17 TD, 16 INT, 76.9 rating
2003: 57.6% completion, 11 TD, 15 INT, 67.5 rating
*traded for Philip Rivers*
2004: 65.5% completion, 27 TD, 7 INT, 104.8 rating (his 1 Pro Bowl year in SD)
2005: 64.6% completion, 24 TD, 15 INT, 89.2 rating

I'm not saying Glennon is even remotely the QB that Brees is/was, I'm saying the situation of being a Dead QB Walking is almost the exact same. He was the starting QB coming off 2 below average seasons, they spent their #1 overall pick on a QB, and everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Rivers started. Instead of just falling apart, Brees went out and played great and lining up his next gig with the Saints.

Would be curious to see what would have happened if Rivers and SD didn't have the contract dispute and he was there the entire preseason to compete for the job.

Simply pointing out they were/are in similar situations and Glennon can either fold and let Trubisky take the job or go and ball out and set himself up to be traded or get a nice next contract somewhere else.

I never said Glennon was going to be as good as Brees, just said he is in the same position and it's not unheard of that a lame-duck QB who is "just holding the spot for a high draft pick" to amount to actually be worth a damn.

He's not in the same position. Drew Brees was the established starter when they drafted Rivers. The bears signed Glennon to a glorified 1 year deal.

I'm not sure glennon makes it to week 4 as the starter. And if he doesn't show something soon he might not be the opening day starter

what has glennon said to make him come off as entitled? or is it just the assumption since he was signed prior to trubisky being drafted?

He probably comes off as "pissed" because I'm sure when he signed there he was told he would be the starter and then they went and drafted Trubisky after inviting Glennon to the draft party.

He's seen this show before.

Sweezy had 2 seconds in Hard Knocks. He and Winston love each other and consider it a failure when they don't score a TD, fyi
