This battle for 6th place comes down to some nasty 2 games.

I don't even want it because we will have to play BC/Wake/GA TECH again....

give me FSU, Clemson, MIAMI, Pitt.

Report: Duke Coaches, Administrators Ignored Sexual Assault Allegations

http://deadspin.com/report-duke-coaches-administrators-ignored-sexual-ass-1688875007

Quote :
"According to a report published today by the Chronicle, Duke's student newspaper, Sulaimon was dismissed more than a year after he was accused of sexually assaulting two female students. The Chronicle also reports that high-ranking members of the university's athletic department were aware of the allegations as early as March 2014, and violated federal law by failing to report them."

NCAA needs to adjust their RPI formula to include non-D1 teams somehow. Tulsa is 14-2 in conference play currently w/ an RPI (ESPN) of 37, but they LOST to a non-D1 school.

^ in the spectrum of how RPI works a single loss like that being included or not wouldn't be a big deal. In fact including non-D1 teams could even help your RPI even with a loss if that D2 team happened to go on to win a lot of games in D2. RPI is a horrible statistic, i hate that it is used for any real evaluation of a team.

Didn't we drop 20 spots in the RPI after losing to BC?

BC hurt us in a lot of ways. SOS fell from #2-3 down to #5, RPI fell dramatically as well as Kenpom, NCAA projected seed, etc. That was a bad loss. Thankfully we recovered against Clemson. If that BC loss gets us a 10 seed instead of an awful 8 or 9 seed, then it may have been worth it.

Hilariously, at least one rpi site had our SOS drop when we beat UNC..and theirs went up.

^ Looks like it's just (2/3)(Opponents record)+(1/3)(Opponents Opponents Record)

So i'm gonna guess that Miami makes the NCAA Tournament as they'll have 20 wins and 10 wins in the ACC...but goodness they really don't have many good wins. @Duke is their #1 hat hanger...and then you have a couple of average wins like home against us, @Pitt, @ Cuse. Thats it.

Then look at their horrid losses:

Home against Green Bay, home against Eastern Kentucky, 20 point loss at home against GT, @ Wake. Sheesh

Miami is going to have to get to the semis or finals of the ACC tournament to get to the NCAA tournament...most likely because that will give them another big win...which they desperately need. They probably need two more big wins...or at least one big win and a trip to the finals (in case a big team gets upset and they face someone like us in the semis).

Yeah, you can barely even consider Miami to be on the bubble at this point. Their RPI is right around the historical max for anyone ever getting an at-large -- and those teams probably had multiple big time wins.

[Edited on March 5, 2015 at 5:53 PM. Reason : Just checked. 2011 USC reportedly worst ever w/ RPI #67..had wins over #11,#33,#44,#19,#32. ]

I can't decide if shaka smart was an idiot, a genius, or a coward. He can make a million.five at VCU and nobody will really remember him getting his dick slapped by Davidson. But you start making a habit of getting dick slapped and the biggest boys don't keep calling for old times sake. Shit his AD who a convinced him to stay bounced at the first thing that came his way.

^^^ Is he only getting 1.5million? I thought he's gotten a raise a year the last few years with all of the big boys calling. I swear I thought he was getting close to 3mil.

Scratch that....just saw where he's making 1.5. He must be really happy in Richmond.

you can make a living losing to Davidson and still making the NCAA Tournament at VCU. Not at a bigger school.

Maybe he didn't think the extra expectations & scrutiny at a larger school was worth the extra pay? Maybe he's a simple guy that can live well enough off of a 7 figure income in a situation he's comfortable in? I know it's a cliche that is said through lying teeth so often that it's lost all meaning, but perhaps for some people it really isn't about the money?

Well Wolfpack fans, tomorrow we will all have our facebook feeds flooded with talk of the "battle of the blews"

Just make sure you remind both fan bases that we HANDLED them both by double digits this year.

That is of course after we beat Syracuse...

3 scholarships a year for 4 years seems like for a basketball team would be a pretty big deal. I am not familiar with what they did, but I imagine its peanuts to what UNC was doing so hopefully this sets the stage for the ban hammer to come down hard.
