Gerrard/Lucas midfield is absolutely killing this team. 100% on Rodgers for not improving that area this summer. No clue what's up with Lovren. I know he's a good player but holy shit he looks awful to start the season.
Still think this team is good enough for top 4 but they will be a looooong way away from a title challenge. 9/20/2014 10:16:19 PM |

Agreed about Gerrard obviously, but in the second half it seemed Gerrard was given the license to go forward and Henderson staying back... which is crazy. Henderson's biggest asset is his workrate. Anyway, I think Balotelli needs Sturridge back. He'll score goals but we all know he won't work nearly as hard or make the runs Sturridge makes.
Changing gears, I majorly underestimated what Welbeck brings to a team. He is a dogshit finisher at this rate but I was blown away watching a guy with pace who can play some hold-up actually be able to pass too. I guess I was so used to shitty Giroud I forgot what that can add to a team.
And holy shit, I just looked at United's fixture list so far and upcoming... they basically had a free ride the first two months and still fucked it up.

easy to blame the ref. Its a cop out. Blame is on United. Defensively the last 20 minutes was school boy stuff. Blackett is seriously the best defender in this team. Evans and Smalling need to be shipped off ASAP. Will be nice to have Jones and Blackett playing together. 9/21/2014 10:33:55 AM |

Not trolling but I didn't think the "missed foul" before the first penalty was a foul. Looked like a shoulder to shoulder for me. Then again, the penalty "foul" was even more of a no-call.
When the tide was turning and they were clearly scrambling at the back, LVG has nobody to bring on and settle a team down with Carrick hurt. It's the same problem Liverpool had last season. You better score early and often because when the momentum changes and you're losing a lead or tied, the only option is to bring on more offensive players and outscore them. Mata/Januzaj is a hell of a lot better than what LFC had to bring on last year so maybe it'll work out for them.

I guess when you watch the replay over and over in slow motion, it looks bad. But in real time, it looked like Rafael fell over really easy. And I agree about him missing the Leicester second yellow. Should have been sent off.
[Edited on September 21, 2014 at 10:53 AM. Reason : think it was De Laet that clipped Di Maria for what shouldve been a 2nd yellow] 9/21/2014 10:51:57 AM |

Is there a TWW fantasy league set up this year? I know in years past I've automatically been added, but maybe the previous admin didn't sign up to play this year and the league got abandoned. I'll set one up if anyone else wants to join. 9/21/2014 5:13:47 PM |

I know it was against 10 men, but Chelsea's goal was one of the best counterattacks I've ever seen in my life.
like 6-7 guys involved, and each played his role to perfection. just sick. I could almost fap to it, and when I can fap to Chelsea, that's something remarkable.
it IS nice, I must say, to see Chelsea playing sexy football under Mourinho. 9/22/2014 12:45:23 AM |

also, that one Fabregas-to-Schurlle goal from week 1 was also phenomenal
I hear what you're saying aimorris, though...Chelsea are manufacturing good highlights, but that's not the same thing as playing consistently sexy soccer. that's disapointing, though..they'd fooled me. 9/22/2014 1:42:05 PM |

Well when you have Diego Costa and Fabregas leading your attack its always going to produce moments of magic. Chelsea lacked that last year and didn't win the title. They will easily walk it with those two in the team now. Matic was also a very good signing. Hazard seems to be taking a vacation ever since the World Cup started though. This Chelsea team isn't even in full gear if you ask me. Oscar and Hazard could be doing much better.
There is more than one way to skin a cat. Mourinho has no obligation to go to the big stadiums and play attacking football. He will destroy the minnows and grind out draws away from home against the big teams. I still have a few questions defensively for Chelsea, especially since Fabregas won't put in a good defensive shift. That's also why he has Ramires though. Terry is susceptible however. If Costa gets 25+ this year (well on track) Chelsea wins the title.

Liverpool vs Everton (2-2) Arsenal vs Tottenham (3-1 to Arsenal) United vs Ham (either 5-3 United or 5-3 West Ham) No center halfs, there is absolutely no way United don't concede at least 2 goals. Fuck Bayern and fuck Banatia.
