Dayes jumped 18 spots recently in Rivals' position rankings, so he's now their #27 RB in the nation. I guess that 30 TD senior season impressed some recruiting analysts.

Also GT commit Jumichael Ramos is visiting State this weekend, and Paul Johnson doesn't take kindly to commits taking visits. His profile:

I'm seeing this guy is a WR. Why in the hell would you go to GT to play wide receiver?

To be fair, Calvin Johnson didn't play under Paul Johnson, and Thomas was at GT before Paul Johnson got there.

Let me rephrase. Why would anyone want to go to a PAUL JOHNSON-COACHED GT team? They never throw the ball, and half the time, their QB doesn't even know how to throw the ball.

i'm not disagreeing with you. thomas stuck around and hill committed, so there must be something. maybe if you know you're the only good wr during your tenure, if the ball goes up you know its coming to you.

I think that GT receivers average the highest YPC of any team in the country, and I've heard that NFL scouts like that they come out knowing how to run block.

not a Paul-johnson lover, that's just what I've heard.

^ 3 catches for 90 yards on the season will do that to your YPC

Sounds like Alston committed to us last night. If true, suck it UNC. Now to just hope he can get his grades up.

Here's the full GA 2A state championship game with Bryant Shirreffs (Jefferson High School)
http://youtu.be/V11_GzH4j2s?t=21m49s

Sounds like he was overlooked by many due to the level of competition in his area, but he really turned some heads and surprised a lot of people with his performance against better competition in the state playoffs and leading his team to win the 2A championship.

In the championship game he went 12-18 171 yds. 1 TD (passing) 24 carries 139 yds 3 TD (rushing)

sweet, we could use the WR help

Doeren has been impressive. Just think if he had an entire year. He'll still be a little behind on 2014 (since many programs have only a couple 2013 commits to worry about), but I'm really excited about his potential to bring very good talent to Raleigh.

We might end up with a top 40 class when it's all said and done and that doesn't even count Brissett since he's a transfer. Copeland would be a huge get as well. Looks like he's about ready to start callin' the place home.

" 2014 WR Braxton Berrios.

The junior receiver from Raleigh (N.C.) Leesville received a scholarship offer from North Carolina State this weekend. When asked what he liked about the Wolfpack, Berrios said, "Hometown school. It's close and I like the staff."

Berrios, who is 5-foot-9 and 172 pounds, has close to 10 scholarship offers. South Carolina is another school that's offered, and another SEC school might also soon be in the fold.

"Florida has been coming on," the junior prospect said."

Looks like we're going after a big TE as well for 2014

Quote :
"A junior season of more than 40 catches and 600 yards looks good for a prospective college pass catcher. That’s what Jacksonville (Ill.) tight end Blake Hance finished with this past season, and he added his first offer earlier in the week.

The offer -- and most likely the successive scholarships as well -- are for the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Hance to play offensive tackle, though.

“A lot of places want me to play tight end. That’s what most want,” Hance said.

That’s what NC State wants, although the tight end coach is pushing for him to remain at tight end in Raleigh if he chooses to go there. Wolfpack offensive line coach Mike Uremovich told Hance he has a solid future at tight end but could be a difference-maker at offensive tackle. While he prefers tight end, Hance agrees he is likely best suited at tackle.

Regardless of where NC State wants him, Hance is just happy he has his first offer.

“It was awesome. My head coach told me Coach Uremovich wanted to talk so he had me call him and we talked for a minute and told me they wanted to offer,” he said. “I was getting all this interest and everyone’s telling me they like me, but it becomes real when you get that first offer and that weight is lifted off your shoulders.”

NC State is one of the few places Hance has not visited among interested schools, but he plans to go there soon. He knows coach Dave Doeren from his time at Northern Illinois, though.

Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt are all interested in Hance, and he has visited all those places with the exception of Vanderbilt. Later this month he will be back at Indiana on Feb. 16. He expects to visit Northwestern again in March.

The Wildcats made a big impression on Hance on his first visit.

“I really liked Northwestern,” he said. “I liked the campus and being in the city.

“But it’s not a place I’d jump on right away [if they offer]. I want to weigh all my options and see the best fit.”"

Wow very impressed with what the staff accomplished in the past 10 days or so. Amazing amount of surprises and decent talent considering how late in the game everything is. Welcome to the Pack to all the new commits. Hopefully DD can get more out of them than TOB or Chuck.
