Question....I need to make reservations somewhere for my graduation luncheon next week (YAY) but I'm not really sure where I should go. I want to go somewhere nice-ish but not very expensive. I want to go somewhere between like 10-15/plate for lunch but my MAIN thing is I want something that is local and not a chain. I don't want to go to Olive Garden or something similiar because people can go to that at home and I don't feel like it will be as special.

One of my friends recommended Daniel's in Apex, have any of ya'll ever been there?

What are some other ideas?

what day of the week? just cause if you go somewhere downtown raleigh lunch hours can be weird - lots of places don't have lunch on the weekends downtown. but if it is a weekdayyyy then you could be ok!

i'd probably go here if i was doing mine in raleigh - but it will be more like small plates (i think) i've only been for dinner not lunch but the lunch menu looks aweeeeeeesome

I called around today.

I think that I'm going to go with Daniels even though it is about 20 minutes away from the RBC Center.

Cafe Luna is closed on the weekends. I didn't think that Buku had enough options for picky people and felt like it was too "different" or something...The Pit is booked...Coqeuette seemed a little fancier than I want.

Thank you for all your suggestions kdcad

Anyone have any others?

awww sad yea i wasn't sure if it was a weekend or not. a lot of downtown places aren't open for lunch on weekends which kinda stinks. but i have also heard good things about daniels! here are some other suggestions i thought of - but i think you'll be good w/ daniels!

518 might be open. is it sat or sunday??

they're open for lunch saturdays http://www.518west.com/

i can't remember if the globe is open for lunch on weekends. i don't think they are but might be worth checking http://www.globeraleigh.com/about.html

if grad is on sunday then humble pie brunch! http://humblepierestaurant.com/

tir na nog also has brunch!

a little more casual environment and perhaps not good for large groups NOFO http://www.nofo.com/

Need help!!

Looking for a relatively inexpensive place to get eyebrows waxed and nails done tomorrow/tonight around Raleigh. May need to put on acrylics/gels to make them look halfway decent. This will be a one time only thing, as I am always doing stuff that is very damaging to nails. Anyone have any advice or coupons?

Does anyone know anyone who uses ParaGard? I'm currently using the NuvaRing and I'm seriously considering non-hormonal birth control.

I thought about it (also wanted to get away from hormonal BC) but opted to go with low-hormone Mirena instead because ParaGard can make your periods heavier and Mirena makes them lighter/nonexistent.

Not really. I don't get as moody around the TOM as I used to. I don't actually have periods anymore (only had barely one since I got it) but I still do get a bit of PMS occasionally, which sort of weirded me out the first time it happened. But I used to get pretty bad cramps and I don't get those anymore. I break out a little more now, but that's probably from going off a higher-hormone kind or could be completely unrelated. But basically everything's been awesome, and I highly recommend it.

I'm looking at switching both for the hormone reason as well as the cost-efficiency of an IUD. I'd save so much money long-term.

Love the idea of not getting a period at all. My periods have always been light, 3-day deals, but having less would be better!

yeah, the cost was another reason I went with the IUD. I love mine.

However, it was hands down one of the most painful things ive done to have it put in and I bleed for 3 months after they put it in

It does hurt like a bitch to have put in. But totally worth it for 5 years of BC for $25 And honestly, I was crampy the night that I got it, but the next morning I was totally back to normal.

I got my bathing suit!!

NCSUWolfy: the support is AMAZING!!!! I was really concerned because of what you mentioned with how the back works... but honestly, I didn't even notice it cutting into me.

The only downside is the bottoms ran a little small, so they're a little snug but I guess that gives me even more motivation to lose those last 15 lbs

Yeah, I heard it can be super painful initially, but worth it in the long run. Love the sound of that.

I keep hearing horror stories about healthy people having a stroke or deep vein thrombosis (or dying) bc of complications from NuvaRing. The worst side effects are really scary.

I've been on it for 3 years, and my initial side effects were bad. Just insane mood swings and deep depressions. They've gotten better, but I think that's mostly bc I'm single. My fights with the ex were HORRIBLE once I went on NuvaRing. And my temper is still pretty bad. Would prefer something that doesn't cause severe mood swings.

I'm looking into Mirena too, because the pill has that unfortunate side effect of killing my sex drive. Effective for not making babies, annoying for having fun.

NuvaRing was so terrible for me that I didn't make it a full month. It gave me shooting pains in the vag, which is just a phrase that no one should ever have to say.

The 18hrs before insertion, be doing cramp control: ibuprofen (you can take 800mg safely, as that's the Rx level) every 4-6hrs (every 4hrs like clockwork if you take the OTC dose), warm compresses, exercise, and massage. Keep it up after insertion.

I had zero pain during or after my insertion. I have had Mirena for 4 years now.

The side effects I had were all intentional: lighter/non-existent periods with less frequency. Since my girlparts are all fubar, any intervention has a positive net effect

They have to measure your uterus from the inside. If that really resulted in "zero pain" ... I'm impressed. Or frightened.

Talk to your doc before doing that.

This may be an instance where the feedback from pain is necessary.

The ibuprofen is really for its anti-inflammatory properties. That just so happens to translate to pain relief

I had the mirena in and I had some crazy side effects. I was itchy (I have talked to other women that experienced this while on it), my boobs hurt ALL THE DAMN TIME ( I felt like I was building up milk ducts/bruise feeling), bloated constantly, I still had periods that trickled blood way longer than a regular period (not heavy at all, just extra long) and finally had no period at the end, headaches like they were going out of style, and I was way paranoid about getting pregnant on it because it is dangerous (I had two friends that got pregnant while on it...that is freaking scary). Honestly, it made me feel pregnant too many times for my comfort. Something else that has not been studied too much about it is when you get off it and want to have babies, does it contribute to miscarriages. Also had friends experience this after being off it.

It was great bc I did not have to worry about daily, weekly, or monthly birth control. I did not have any problems getting it in and out of my uterus but all my other friends did. I am wondering if it hurts more if you have never had a baby or if you don't have horrendous periods. It also made me VERY regular and I had no cramps when my "period" came on.

i take a low hormone pill. i've thought about the nuva ring or something like that though.

but my pill is pretty cheap as a generic (not a cheap as an IUD eventually is though). i take karvia which is a generic of mircette. i had really bad cramps too and it helped. my periods are also super short now. but i dunno i've thought about switching.

its also weird that in HS (when i first got my period) i had THE WORST cramps. like it wasn't just because i had a low pain tolerance or it was a new thing. they continued through the beginning of college. i started on BC in highschool when i was 14 because my cramps were so bad. it only helped a little. my gyno finally said i had dysmenorrhea and i got a vicodin RX (and some other lesser pain killers - RX strength ibuprofen). this continued in college. now though i only get cramps like this once or twice a year. like debilitating cramps. i can't even explain it - worse than having surgery, worse than having stitches. no comfort. like RX strength meds don't even help.

but now its going away and luckily i think that is normal (according to doctors). as your hormones like even out in your 20s and 30s (i guess unless you have a kid). but in high school and college (and now like 1 or 2 times a year) i have debilitating cramps that taking vicodin doesn't even have an effect on. its horrible.

anyway. that was my BC story. i didn't know if anyone else had similar experiences with cramps.

i take ocella which is the generic form of yasmin. i was on yasmin for 6 or 7 years before switching to ocella a couple of years ago (since obviously, its the same thing but cheaper). never had one side effect but i didn't have many problems with my period to begin with.

off topic

sooooo i bought this new Treseme stuff that is the dry shampoo. i've been looking for a dry shampoo for a while.....you know those mornings when your hair isnt really that dirty but you don't feel like washing it. they have 2 products of dry shampoo now....one for straight hair to help get the oil out and one for curly hair to help condition it. i picked up the kind for straight hair since i straighten my hair most of the time. i'll let yall know how it goes. hopefully i wont have a giant greaseball of dirty hair on my head.

^ yes i'd LOVE to know the results. i wonder if i could use it - i straighten my hair but i have super super super super SUPERRRRR dry hair so i feel like i'd need the conditioning kind. i don't have straight or curly hair it is just like a rats nest if i don't straighten it - not pretty curly just like kinky/wavy but not in a good way. and really tangly.

I don't wash my hair every day. I've actually noticed it not getting as oily as fast as it used to.

But when the oil gets to be too much I just put it up in a pony tail or bun.
Then again I am also in a position where putting my hair up in a pony tail or messy bun is okay in normal day to day life.
I'm sure if I had to have my hair down more often I would wash it more often.

my hair is super dry so i can usually not wash it everyday

though now that i'm working out i kinda have to - especially if i swim - which is only contributing to the dryness! though today i showered and then didn't fix my hair after. i felt like chlorine + heat styling was just a super bad combo.

I'm curious about this dry shampoo now...

Anyone have a great product for getting volume into fine hair? The longer my hair gets, the flatter it gets. I find a lot of products just weigh my hair down more as the day goes on or makes it looks greasy. I've used a ton of different mousses but don't love any of them.

Yea some products are ridiculously expensive. Why would anyone spend so much on a product they haven't tried to see if it even works for them. I'm finding that problem with skin care products too. I want great skin and hair products but don't want to break the bank!

i have to be really careful about products i put in my hair. certain shampoos and straightening creams can make my hair feel cruddy and greasy almost, even right after i wash it.

i found the treseme products to be the best.

my hair is like kinky/wavy - i straighten it or just wear it up because i haven't really found a product i can put in it that makes it like a pretty wavy.

i liked john frieda dream curls or something - but i haven't used it in awhile - kinda made my hair too crunchy

then i have this tgi or whatever catwalk stuff that i got at the salon and when the person THERE fixed my hair with it it looked great but i can never seem to fix it myself and make it look as good - even when i use a diffuser and everything

any recommendations for someone with in between hair to enhance the curls/waves?!
