Is it some pussy ass rifle? Also, $1400 is a lot, even for a Colt LE Carbine. So, I hope you're getting a good deal.

If it were me, I'd be all over an Arsenal SGL-21 with Plum furniture. For $700, they're one of the best deals in a carbine out there. The parts bin AK's that you see for $400 aren't even in the same league.




If it's an AR, I'd be getting a Colt Model 6920, hands down. The standards to which the parts they're made of are produced exceed that of 95% of other manufacturers. Very, very well made AR-15's. The price isn't just because of the name, I can promise you that.

The S&W doesn't really offer much more than a $700 AR-15 from a company like Del-Ton IMO when you look at the internals and the fact that they're just throwing their lower on a Stag Arms Upper (Not that Del-Ton is bad necessarily, but they aren't charging you a premium for no reason). It's not that it sucks, but it's not worth the premium they're charging. Colt does give you exactly what you pay for IMO, which is one high quality motherfucker.


Notice that S&W doesn't perform a Magnetic Particle Inspection on their barrels, nor do they perform a pressure test. Colt performs both of these inspections on EACH barrel. S&W doesn't use Mil-Spec steels either. The gun you'll get from Colt has been THOROUGHLY inspected and contains only mil-spec components. You get the true M16 bolt carrier on the Colt 6920, while you do not with the S&W. There's a chart showing you all of the shit you get and you can read thorough explanations of why the shit in that 6920 is arguably better. Not that mil-spec is always the best, but when it comes to AR-15's and AK-47's, I want mil-spec everything.
