Not sure if this made it onto sportscenter or not, but Deuce Bello had an interview on espn for his between the legs dunk he threw down during a game.
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4867472&categoryid=2378529
I don't know if we've offered him yet, but we're at least recruiting him. Thought he played on WOG but apparently not. Interview was a little awkward because he answered the questions very succinctly and he thinks he's a better dunker than Nate Robinson. I'd be pissed off if I was on the other team and a guy did that during a game but I'm a little hypocritical in that regard because I crack a smile every time ryan does that dunk where he throws the ball off the backboard to himself and throws it down with one hand. 1/30/2010 11:12:51 AM |

If you can be recruited all the way until august, it makes sense that CJL will take his time playing the field like any man with whore after whore college pining over him. He'll make his decision at the last minute, and there are some decent reasons for him to pick NC State (#1: his mama) 1/31/2010 11:32:03 PM |

Hopefully CJ will read this :
http://www.lex18.com/news/john-wall-is-frustrated/
Quote : | " John Wall doesn't look like he's smiling as much as he was earlier in the season.
When I asked him if that was true, he agreed.
Wall was called out by Cal after the Cats lost to South Carolina. Cal was trying to defend Patrick Patterson who was taking some heat for his play, and in the process, he was strong about Wall.
"I don't know. He said I played awful," says John Wall.
"I didn't think I played that bad. I don't know what to expect. He's probably going to say I played bad today too so. I don't know. I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and try and help my team win."
You could hear it in Walls voice that he was down. Cal's comments bothered him.
"Yeah, I think it's going to bother any player when he tells you that."
Wall is searching for answers. He's not sure why he's so unhappy.
"To be honest, I really haven't been having fun for the last two weeks. It's just being frustrated and things like that so, I just got to figure it out before we go further in league play."
Frustrated with how your playing, the team is playing, what is going on, is it just a lull in the season ?
"'Frustrated with everything. I don't know, one through twenty. Any ideas it is."
The Cats had just beaten Vandy to go to 20-1. But Wall looked like the Cats had just lost two in a row. " |

I think john wall is suffering from a case of being handled with kid gloves his entire life.
if he's like that after one loss, how could he possibly have had the intestinal fortitude to play for us (yes, i'm sure he would have been enough of a game changer to make some of our losses victories, but we would not be 20-1 now even with him) 2/1/2010 9:25:21 AM |

He shouldn't worry so much
Never in recent history has been there such a sure slam dunk as the number 1 pick

With Wall, every team would pick him if they win the lottery, and wouldn't think twice 2/1/2010 9:38:23 AM |

^ some people might have been saying that about melo, but no one that mattered or had any sense. Lebron was without a doubt going to be the #1 pick. of course Wall is too, but no more so than Lebron...just saying.. 2/1/2010 10:46:21 AM |
jocristian All American 7527 Posts user info edit post |
nah, SF is right. Lebron came out of highschool on the tail end of what seemed like a boat load of desparate highschoolers jumping college to join the NBA. A bunch of them were busts, so the public sentiment of Lebron was not nearly as unanimous as it is for John Wall.
Hell, think about how the hype was for Wall a few months ago before he played a game for Kentucky, now compare that to his hype now... That's about the same difference between Lebron back then and John Wall now. 2/1/2010 12:36:13 PM |

Dude just last year Blake Griffin going #1 was a stone cold lock as well. I never heard even one story saying he wouldn't go #1. Obviously Wall is a lock earlier in his career and earlier in this season than Griffin was last year so I can kind of agree on your assessment.2/1/2010 3:08:15 PM |

Actually we could very well be undefeated considering how close we have played every single game. Get rid of the attitude and he would have been the exact piece that NCSU needs (A FRICKIN GUARD WHO CAN CREATE)...2/1/2010 7:30:00 PM |

It's dumb to try and predict what would happen should we have had a guy like Wall. Changes the whole dynamic of the team. Also, the fact that the surrounding cast at UK is SO MUCH BETTER than ours.

here's the whole insider article
Quote : | "Is Red Springs (N.C.) Flora Macdonald Academy's Luke Cothron committed or not committed to North Carolina State? That is still the question, and that is why the four-star forward is considered a soft verbal.
Cothron is a skilled four man. "Luke is committed, but he is looking around at other schools," Cothron's mentor and former travel team coach told Rivals.com. "He just feels that NC State is sort of a shaky situation with the rumors that Coach Lowe might not be there next year.
"He also feels like he jumped into his commitment and didn't really see the recruiting process. That is why he wanted to wait till the spring."
Plenty of schools are showing interest in Cothron, who is the No. 33 ranked prospect in the Rivals150.
Williams listed Kentucky, Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Florida, West Virginia and Texas A&M as schools of interest for the 6-foot-8, 210-pound Cothron, who is originally from Huntsville, Ala.
"He'll take a couple of visits after the season to make sure NC State is the right place," said Williams. "He definitely wants to visit Texas A&M and of course Alabama. He'd also like to visit Kentucky with the way Demarcus Cousins is playing so well. With Cousins and (Patrick) Paterson both leaving, there would be a great opportunity there for him."
Cothron is averaging 29 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks per game this year." |
