That's the first thing I thought when I saw this guy. He just explodes out of cuts and gets incredible separation almost instantly. I don't know anything about the competition, but he's playing way faster than anyone on the field. Glad to have him.

Hmmm, interesting. Looks like he could only play for a year. Doesn't make much sense at first, unless DD and staff have zero faith in Pete Thomas and Manny Stocker. This guy would give us a bridge to Brissett next year.

6'5" - 225 lbs. 3* recruit in the c/o 2009. Looks to be another pro-style QB

Syracuse lean, but he hasn't visited NCSU yet...

Not sure if these are schollies or walk-ons? I assume the latter, but the article doesn't say.

Raleigh, NC -- NC State head football coach Dave Doeren has announced that three talented players from the state of North Carolina will join the Wolfpack squad this fall: New Bern’s Josh Taylor, Lucas Wilson from Winston-Salem and Ben Grazen, who lives in nearby Cary."

Definitely gotta be walk-ons. 3-star TE Lucas Wilson is a steal

and the QB Taylor put up some big numbers in New Bern

" Taylor shattered almost every offensive school record, posting new career marks for touchdowns (130), wins (42), total yards (11,296), passing yards (7,987) and rushing yards (3,309)."

he was supposedly considering going to the Citadel.

Sounds like Kentavius Street is having a good time.

Spent much of yesterday's practice talking to Mario, which is a great strategy by Dorean, then commented this was his best visit yet on social media.

He would be such a huge get for this new staff.

The new staff definitely seems to be making more of an effort to recruit around Charlotte, the old staff had pretty much ceded it to UNC and Clemson.

This year we had 10 commits from NC. in 2012 we had 7 NCians. 2011 we had 8. 2010 we had 5.

UNC got 7, 6, 13, & 7 during those years, respectively. They averaged 8.3 from NC. We averaged 7.5.

We should compare ourselves to UNC

Seriously though, they've done a poor job of in-state recruiting as well

More well known information that has nothing to do with the fact that TOB did a shitty job of in-state recruiting

Doeren seems to get it

I don't exactly know which players are the good ones, but unc definitely has bad better talent the past few years, the draft has told us that. Just because we have gotten players and beat them doesn't mean shit, we could certainly use better players and more from this state. But that all is obvious

^^yes i know, but people were pointing out stupid things, so i thought i would join in.

honestly the in state players we need to be trying to get are the ones going to Clemson, Notre Dame and the SEC.

^^ I mean if all that matters is beating UNC.. Then that shits sad. I'd much rather be 9-3 with a L to them than 8-4 with a win

^ and I didn't misspell talent?

I remember when TOB took over, people were excited as he was rebuilding ties with NC coaches that Amato ruined. Building pipelines to certain schools and areas takes time and while TOB and his staff did not do well in our state, they at least helped us back from the mess Amato left us in terms of NC recruiting.

TOB's problem was/is that he cannot recruit high level talent period whether it be NC or nationally. Hopefully Doeren can do better.

^^people always make the comment that Amato screwed us in NC recruiting

I'm not trolling, just ignorant. Can someone explain how he did that? Was it cause he was more interested in recruiting the rest of the southeast than in NC?

^ I am not expert on the subject, but my general understanding is that Amato pretty much just turned off many the high school coaches with his attitude and blatant love for recruting FL over NC. I am sure someone else can elaborate on this further with examples.

^negative, it was Ohio State, Florida State, South Carolina and Notre Dame. He said that list wasn't set in stone though, so we could potentially make up ground.

You can add former Arkansas QB Brandon Mitchell to that as well. He is considering transferring to NC State, USF and UAB.
