i just ordered this necklace
and this bangle/cuff thing (i wish it came with the cute bird lol)
from etsy (not to wear together obviously). i have a bunch of simple cotton dresses for the summer cause they're easy to dress up or down so i'm trying to collect accessories to go with. and etsy has cute stuff for cheap. i WANT this, but its $26 boo:

suggestions on where to find a white skirt in this style?
http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5727&vid=1&pid=741487&scid=741487002
i used to have a white skirt from gap in this style - just plain white no eyelit or tiered bullshit. it was JUST LIKE THIS but white. and then i sat on a bench in my courtyard 2 years ago that had been repainted (apparently) and there were no signs and it didn't look wet and hadn't changed color...well...there went my white skirt
and i haven't been able to find one like it sense but i want one - it goes with everythingggg. and p.s. when did gap get so freaking expensive? 5/17/2010 12:26:03 AM |

do want that last necklace...
I thought the same thing when looking at gap.com. I have a $25 gift card but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to find any dresses or skirts or nice tops for that price.. Maybe the sale rack will have something. 5/17/2010 8:33:58 AM |

A Victoria's Secret whistle-blower told Rossen it was common practice to put returned panties back on sale. Fortunately, the stained undergarments were not found at J.Crew or Saks." |

i went to the actual target and they only had not cute ones. but i tried them on because i'm normally a 7 but in the rain boots i totally wear a 6
if anyone needs cheap rain boots they are on sale on target.com for 19.99. and the liners are on sale too. they have lots of patters. some are fugly but there are some really cute ones. i almost got a pair with fish on them instead but i had to get the yellow. now watch it won't rain for the rest of the summer!! ahhh.

i have found a form of quasi retail therapy that doesn't hurt the wallet: WATCHING things on ebay. or just oging on a website and adding things to your cart. but you can't buy. that is cheating. haha.

i have a 5 p.m. church wedding/nice place reception (not a church...not a country club...but somewhere nice) at the end of June...
I'm not buying a cocktail dress just for this wedding because...well...i'm just not...i can't justify it in any way
what is appropriate?
i was originally planning on wear this dress...
with apple green heels and jewelry that matches...
but i don't know if the bright color dress is appropriate anymore...since the wedding is in the evening...
would a similar dress in black with the same shoes and similar jewelry be ok?

the shoes i wanted to wear with the blue dress are identical to these only an apple/lime green color...
and the earrings have both the blue and green in the them and the necklace is just green....
i could also get the shoes in a deep purple and wear them with a black dress or charcoal grey dress...with matching jewelry of course...
i just don't know what to do....
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
(this is why i don't go to weddings....i don't know the rules )

Old wisdom is that wearing a drab color is a disservice to the bride. 5 pm is still quite bright during the summer so stay away from the black. I kinda dig the pink, but you might want a little jacket if you don't want old people perving at you all night. 5/18/2010 10:29:00 AM |

^^the girl at work is telling me that 5 p.m. means black/white dress or cocktail but the fact that it's 5 p.m. in JUNE is what was throwing me off as well...the reception will probably be over before it ever gets dark...
i would definitely get a shawl for the seersucker dress
^i don't know if i can tone it down....my accessories brighten it up even more...haha 5/18/2010 10:35:39 AM |

and i'll get a white pashmina or something
like this

I think with an evening wedding in the summer you can definitely get away with brighter colors. Weddings, even formal ones, are celebrations and bright colors are always welcome. The pink seersucker with a wrap would be pretty much perfect, imo.
5pm functions are usually for black tie and cocktail dresses, but not really in the case of weddings. Black at a wedding is kind of meh and it disappoints me to see so many ladies wear black dresses to weddings. It used to be a sign that you disapproved of the marriage, and now it's just kind of boring. 5/18/2010 12:38:07 PM |

could you do a black pashmina with the pink dress?
surely someone you know has one you could borrow!
i have a really cute crop black cardigan thing that would go well with it but a) i'm not in raleigh and b) my boobs are like 1/18th the size of your so it probably wouldn't fit
check target - that is where i got the crop cardigan. i wore it to a rehearsal dinner and i've gotten a lot of use out of it since. if you could justify spending like $10 or whatever on it. either way target might also have some "pashmina" wraps (fake ones obvi). oh and old navy has a lot of wraps too (or they usually do). both these places, though you're buying something, will be cheap! 5/18/2010 1:21:03 PM |
