^^ Love the silos. Great shot
^ that P&S shot would work well as a B&W imo. Great shot but the green window & 2 tv's distract me a bit since they're the only color. What was the 1st pic taken with? Really interesting since it seems the horizon is tilted to the left but the monument is tilted to the right. Am I just losing it? Also, I really want a fisheye.... 3/14/2010 10:33:29 PM |

Thanks, I'll try it as a B&W and see how I like it. I didn't notice the TVs honestly, but I did like the touch of green the one window gave the shot.
The first picture was taken with the Tokina 11-16mm at 11mm so that slanted feel is probably due to the lines on the ground being stretched by the wide angle lens. The horizon isn't perfectly flat (about a degree off), but it's pretty close according to the grid in photoshop, so I didn't mess with it.
And yes, the fisheye is bitchin'. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. ]3/14/2010 10:39:21 PM |

A Brick furnace, from the Guignard Brick works, Cayce, SC. The Brick works were operating between 1900 and 1950. These furnaces built between 1911 and 1930 (not sure if this is the 1911 or the 1930, but I think 1930, as it is slightly seperated from the other 3 just like it.

A memorial to the confederate soldiers of South Carolina. The flag on the flag pole is the confederate flag, I really wanted it to stand up, but it just wasn't a windy enough day.
Found this in a parking lot, I used the point and shoot method on this picture, but taken with my Nikon.

Actually those are both AH-64D's aka Longbow's. Just because the FCR or Fire Control Radar is uninstalled (the biscuit over the rotor blades) doesn't mean it's not a D model/Longbow.... it's removable. Typically, unless they are doing gunnery or deployed, you'll see the D's without the FCR. This is because it's heavy (less weight = more flight time).
The easiest way to tell is by looking for the winglets off the engines that I've highlighted in red here:
I forget exactly what they are called, but the AH-64A's do not have them....
I'm actually down here in Alabama at flight school about to learn how to fly these bad boys. Those two 64's are from my National Guard unit there at the RDU airport. They just got back from deployment from Iraq!

The pic of the Apaches was taken on 2-20-2010. There was a total of 5 Apaches that landed outside of KRDU General Aviation that day. Here is a link to a high-res image of all 5 birds: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ke4znr/4379163911/sizes/o/in/set-72157623479886008/

^^^ i don't think it's technically or compositionally remarkable as you put it, but i like it and it's not offensive to the eyes. i think the placement of the silos is good and the soft light works well with the brown grass and blue skies.
if you don't like it, you don't like it. it's all personal tastes.
