watching his highlight reel, he's good at throwing fades to the corner of the endzone, has a good arm, but looks kinda slow when scrambling.

Read the ejection thing came off a recent rule change after they kicked a kid out the year before for running in a long TD and "pointing to the sky" starting at the 10-yard line and running into the endzone for a TD. Seems like they're just being overly-excessive on the celebrations in high school in that area.

Read some reviews that McClendon grew a couple of inches this offseason and is looking much improved. Some early speculation, esp based on his offers, that he'll end up a 4* recruit after a solid senior season(barring injury). Not that I think rankings are the end-all-be-all of recruiting, but I think it really helps if you land an early QB(esp a highly ranked one) that can go out and recruit on your behalf(Glennon did it for us, he actually had Julio Jones talking to our coaches his senior year because of Glennon). McClendon apparently started putting in work once he committed, know he called Street(5* DE), Register(4* OLB), and Scott(4* RB) the first week and was recruiting for us. I absolutely love the kids who do that. I actually think Brissett has been helping with recruiting as well.

Brandon Mitchell picks NC State
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9296290/former-arkansas-qb-brandon-mitchell-transferring-nc-state

Quote :
"Brandon Mitchell will enroll at NC State, the former Arkansas quarterback said Monday.

Mitchell also considered Michigan, UAB, Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State.

"I like the culture, coaches, expectations within the program starting all the way at the top, and most importantly chemistry," Mitchell said. "I felt I built it with players in just three days. Bottom line is I want to win, and I want to win now. They have the best opportunity there for success and just had one missing piece."

Mitchell has one season of eligibility and will compete immediately for a starting position.

Former Penn State quarterback Steven Bench also recently visited NC State but his attention will now focus on USF and Mississippi State, which he will visit Tuesday and Wednesday.

A senior, Mitchell is on track to graduate and be eligible to play this season. He competed with sophomore Brandon Allen throughout the spring at Arkansas but was listed as second team.

Mitchell (6-foot-4, 239 pounds) has appeared in 21 college games with three starts. He has caught 17 passes for 272 yards, is 25-of-43 passing for 332 yards and two touchdowns and has rushed 23 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns."

^^i forgot that all of these guys we are collecting are former all-conference QB's, not guys who couldn't get on the field or lost their starting jobs because they weren't good.

FWIW, I have some family members that are big Razorback fans. Mitchell was their favorite player on the team ... and they all thought he should've been named starter.

I think the fact he was a senior and the other guy was a soph actually worked against him -- almost like RW/MG situation. Bielema would rather take a chance on a guy with multiple years left to play than one who only has one.

Either way, it's hard to see this as anything but a positive.

Id guess there are more than a few backup players at SEC schools that would be upgrades for many ACC schools.

You can scratch that KJ Ford commitment. Apparently he hasn't informed the coaches and none of them can even get a hold of this cat. Knowing the kid, people "in the know" believe this was a stunt to bring attention to him from his peers and from other colleges. Pretty sad and it is believed that our coaches are going to "move on" from this cat.

^^ and he wasn't very good. And the coaching staff obviously doesn't think much of him.

I'm just not going to get excited over collecting a bunch of quarterbacks who couldn't get on the field at other schools.

How do you know this? We only had two QBs before Mitchell with Thomas/Stocker. Stocker is never going to be the answer and we needed a third QB.

He put up decent numbers behind a line worse than NCSUs.

He knows it just like he knew that Andrew Wiggins was going to FSU (hours before Wiggins announced Kansas).

(although we also have true freshman qb bryant shirrefs, and several walk-on qbs)

Yeah I don't think the coaches disliked Pete Thomas, I just don't think he's the right fit for the offense they want to run.

If we were running a pro-style or Bible's offense then Pete would be a great fit and would put up solid numbers. New staff put a lot of emphasis on a QB that is a threat to run, and Pete just isn't that. They're looking to make our offense as potent as possible with 1 QB instead of needing 2. Pete is still the best passer on the team, but he doesn't bring any threat to run. Stocker is a threat to run but teams wouldn't respect the pass. The hope is Mitchell can be somewhere in the middle and threaten both to open up the offense.

Losing Dudley LB Chris Register to Clemson last week was tough but not unexpected, but we made the top 5 for 4 star DE Lorenzo Featherston and the final 7 for 4 star WR Jamil Kamara.
