With Freeman's minutes limited now, hopefully Gott gives Kirk more burn. We are going to have to play small and aren't playing for anything anyway so what the hell will it hurt. We aren't winning shit this year and the NIT is unlikely so fuck it, play him and hope he doesn't transfer. Hell play Cannon too at this point.

its one thing to be horrible at defense but being horrible at defense and never changing one thing is unacceptable. im sick of watching every team operate in comfort and score with ease. try something new. what is there to lose?

This is usually the point where Gott fools us into thinking we are good. He can't even do that this year.

Gotta agree with Earl. Our complete lack of defensive adjustments is ridiculous. Basically ran a 6 man rotation too instead of giving Kirk a shot. Stupid and pointless in this lost season. Gott wants moral victories instead of preparing for the future.

the idea that teams can get wide open 3s in the halfcourt without even using screens or inside touches is unacceptable. 1 pass open 3. 2 passes open 3. that shouldn't happen at any level of basketball

I have a bad feeling that we're not going to be much better next year. Lost faith in Gottfried as a team builder. Going to be an ugly overhaul if we have to be looking for a new coach in 2017. Archie will probably find a better job after this season

I think it's long been accepted that Gott is a sub-par defensive coach. Also, this giving up career days has been around a lot longer than Gott.

15-16 (5-12) 39th in offense, 174th in defense. Same problems in year five as in one.

He needs to somehowrecruit Cat (or get a donor to pay him to come back), grab a 5th year/transfer big that can play, hope Dorn can play in this league, and Henderson can play more than 7 minutes.

Otherwise things are not looking really good. We talking bubble team in year six?

So Moxley is being moved to a new role (Whittenburgs old role, but I can't remember the description). I guess his heart attack/stroke last year have ended his heavy travel/recruiting days. Sucks and I wonder who will replace him as a recruiter. Maybe if USF fires Orlando Antigua, we can go after him. He was a monster recruiter for UK although they probably just cheated their ass off the whole time.

I mean I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Based on various reports, it's gone like this:
Before Season: 0% chance he returns.
Early Season: 5% chance he returns.
Now: 10-15% chance he returns, mainly based on what scouts tell him.

If he even has a CHANCE at being taken in the 1st round he has said he's going pro for sure.
If he gets a hard 2nd round grade, he's told the staff he would consider coming back. I think the staff has tried to convince him that playing next to DSJr next year will help his game and probably used Hield as an example of what could happen.

I wouldn't bank on it, but I do think there is at least a small chance that he decides to stay.

I think the fact that Gott has even spoken about it in postgame interviews should show that it's being discussed and you can tell exactly which way Gott is pushing him.

Why would he stay to play in a crowded backcourt? His numbers this year are really as high as they are going to be. His assists may go up, only because we will be a better ball club, but his ppg would take a big hit IMO.

^^Because he could still use a lot of improvement in his game? Perhaps work on his 3pt shooting and passing? Yeah he had gaudy point totals, but dude didn't shoot at a high efficiency and his assist totals weren't very good.

I just don't see a NBA team being impressed with his point totals knowing he played for a really bad team and was ball-dominant PG.

He's probably not coming back, but it's not like coming back couldn't help him, esp. if we're a winning team and he shows improvement in his shooting, defense, and passing. He could play some 2 next year and show even more versatility in his game.

He wouldn't be a first round pick right now most likely but that doesn't really matter. Can't envision him coming back and if he does its hard to imagine his stock improving too much.

I do know that graduating was at one point important to him though so we will see..

Maybe to show that he can play off the ball...get his percentages up a bit since he won't have such a high usage rate. His three point shot greatly improved this year, but maybe he can turn into a marksmen next year?

The one thing that has been put out there is that he really wants to win. If he's a borderline first rounder, maybe the thought of coming back and being able to play in the tourney and make some noise will get him coming back.

The only reason I could see him coming back for is to improve on his shot efficiency. Unfortunately he had to shoot 25 times a game to reach 25 points and half of those points came from foul shots a lot of the time. Amazing player but one more year could put him in another category!
