film looks better than his ranking. Crappy offers though, especially with Thompson and Kamara still on the board. Staff knows more than we do though...that's like 8 WR commits in 2 years though

Trowell is still a top 30 recruit in the state. I bet he hops up a rung when all is said and done.

#27 TE in the nation...offers from FSU, Miss. St. and Missouri to name a few. Beating out SEC schools for recruits is ok in my book.

Justin Jones. 4* DE on Rivals. Most sites rank him as a DT, so he's listed as a 3* DT on Scout, sounds like he could play either, but I'm guessing he ends up at DT.

Baumann was 8th in the ACC last year at 35.7 ypp as a sophomore. The #3 punter in the conference averaged 1 ypp better. I would expect him to improve over the next two seasons.

might be a strange question for football, but with all the commits we've got in the last couple of days, how many scholarships do we have left?

I was wondering the same thing. If we lose guys because of the coaching transition does that open up more spots for 2014 recruits, or is there a set limit regardless?

Think we have 18 solid commits, speculated we'll take a full 25 player class, so should be 7 spots left.

Also rumors we'd consider a 27 person class(Cook rumored to graduate early and count towards last years class and expectations of attrition).

Average stars (via Rivals) - 2.79

Avg stars from previous seasons:
13 - 2.83
12 - 2.77
11 - 2.75
10 - 3.05

If you're jacked he's landing more in-state guys, that's cool, but it's not like he's been bringing in talent that's on a different level from what TOB had been bringing in. If you think building a foundation at the Charlotte schools leads to better recruits down the road, I'm down with giving that philosophy a shot & seeing how it plays out. Not complaining or ripping him (or even arguing about "muh stars"), just trying to put things in perspective amid RED LIGHT RED LIGHT

^^I tried to point that exact fact out on packpride as well as stating that TOB's first class dwarfs this one so far and I got killed by those posters over there. Every new coach is God and every old coach sucks to them.

The punter said in an interview that he expected to greyshirt since Baumann would be a senior and he probably wouldn't play anyway.

despite the star average lets consider the long term impact of getting the in state recruits that most years would go out of state, the kids coming from GA, the number of kids with legit SEC offers, and lastly how much fun the staff looks to be having. i truly believe kids will WANT to come to state if we keep having fun.

note- all is worthless without W's.....

I think it's also significant that we have 18 commits before the end of June. How often did TOB manage that one?

I'm not as wrapped up in the stars as most, but I think it's positive that we're landing guys early because when your scrambling to land 2/3* players in October, it shows you whiffed on most of the guys you really wanted. Glad we're landing guys we actually want.

Not sure how many more days like this we'll manage. If we do only have 7-8 spots open, and you know guys like Street(5* DE), Williams(4* DE), Thompson(4* WR), and Kamara(4* WR) have reserved spots, not sure how many more we can land. We also have Bowens(3* OLB) and KJ Ford(3* DT) that tried to commit and our coaches told them to hold off a bit(sign that they're lower priority?) and we have Middleton(3* DT) committing somewhere July 1(likely NC State unless his grades are truly an issue).

Not sure I ever recall TOB telling 2 3* players to hold off committing.

^^^lol

^^you do realize that we still haven't gotten a commit from a top 15 kid in the state right? All of the kids that used to go out of state...are STILL going out of state. TOB got plenty of Top 20-30 NC talent.

^In TOB's first year, he had 9 commits before the end of June including Top 5 QB Mike Glennon and Top 10 in NC Brandon Barnes(farce). As well as Dwayne Maddox and Mario Carter who were Top 15 in NC type performers...I believe maddox was even borderline top 10 and had offers from Alabama and Clemson. So as my point has been on packpride, I don't know why everyone is acting like these coaches are doing some MONUMENTAL job...when so far, its been kinda average.

^^I thought that great class (Glennon and Co.) was TOB's second class, meaning his first full year of recruiting.

If I'm remembering correctly, and you want an apples-to-apples comparison, then you should examine the recruiting class of 2007 (and when you look at that class remember that Wilson was an Amato recruit).

I don't think anyone's looking at these recruits as a sign we're gonna win an ACC Championship as a result of them committing. But a lot of these guys are the type of recruits we hadn't been getting many of with TOB, mid to high level 3 stars who are athletic and can play multiple positions that have the potential to start, but if they don't they provide quality depth.

We've had some quality players commit, but for Doeren to do something big with his first class we need the 4 and 5 stars we've had on campus recently to commit - and we still have more than enough room in this class for them to.

resorted to name calling? lol

Hes also a NR 3* according to Scout and ranked #30 in the state according to ESPN. He had good offers and was a nice pickup, but good heavens. Do you think hes the type of guy that I'm talking about? We've pulled guys away from the likes of Virginia and Tennessee the past few years.

Well then wouldn't this years class be DD's second class, meaning their first full year of recruiting? It is apples to apples. DD's "first class" comparable to TOB's "first class" that included Wilson would have been the incoming freshmen of this year....Alston, Ramos, etc.
