I've read a total of about three complaints about the CGI in this movie in all the reviews I've read.
Episode I's CGI looks terribly dated. 5/18/2005 2:21:18 PM |

Mission Valley's doing a costume contest tomorrow with a $500 first prize (I'm not sure if it's cash or a prize pack with a $500 value). I think registration starts at 5:00 and the judging is at 6:00, but I could be wrong. There are signs inside on the concession stand that have the details.5/18/2005 2:29:45 PM |

They had some of the most pathetic costumes last night. Several Star Trek outfits, a girl with a wookie mask and vest, and then plenty of 30 year old jedis. There was an awesome stormtropper though.
Apparently all the cool kids went to go see it at Fox Studios. 5/18/2005 5:36:17 PM |

I can't believe no one has made plans with me or even called me about it today. I'm not even gonna bother going. I don't want to go by myself, and I usually don't care about going to the movies alone. 5/18/2005 11:21:47 PM |

Call me old fashioned, but I preferred the muppet creatures over the new cgi.
To me, they looked more believable than those shiny computer graphic creatures with over-exaggerated mannerisms. Also, the muppets were ever better actors than certain human characters in the movies.
I'm still excited though! I hear palpatine kicks some ass, so it should be a good show 5/18/2005 11:21:56 PM |

4th best star wars movie. It's unbelievable how consistently bad Hayden is. He makes everyone around him crappy, crappy actors and actresses. With that said, it was interesting to see how things went down. 5/19/2005 2:48:04 AM |

Lucas has this thing where instead of being serious for the duration of an important scene, he'll break into it with something funny, and then go back to it.
That's really my biggest knock on the whole thing. Most of the acting was fine for a Star Wars movie. Portman wasn't grand, but she didn't have anything to work with, so I can't fault her. 5/19/2005 2:53:22 AM |

I think Portman was a hell of alot worse than Hayden. And Hayden improved tenfold over his performance in Ep II 5/19/2005 2:54:42 AM |

carrie fischer played her character well. Most importantly, they all had actual chemistry.
mark hammel > hayden carrie fischer > portman harrison ford > ewin mcgregor ?? chewbacca > ?? black guy > ??
Even the villains were better. Gotta love jabba the hut.
It's also doesn't help that ewin mcgregor sucked balls everytime he was with hayden.

Yeah, the acting was shitty, but nothing made me cringe as much as that fireplace scene in AotC. The special effects kicked ass.

I don't remember much whining in RotJ from Luke. And he didn't really whine in ESB.

It's easily the best of the prequels, and probably slightly better than RETURN OF THE JEDI. Most of the problems I did have with this movie were the result of the previous two movies doing such a poor job of setting things up. I actually had no problems with Hayden Christensen this time around. He was likable when he needed to be and sinister when he needed to be. I still think Natalie Portman just phoned the whole thing in, and the scenes between her and Christensen just didn't work for the most part. 5/19/2005 3:15:15 AM |

its now definitely clear that the first 2 movies were made so this movie could be made
by that i mean not only the story, but the advancement in cgi and special effects
this was the movie we've all been waiting for and if you feel disappointed then you went into the movie wanting to hate it
the only complaints i have are:
believability of anakin's transformation obi-wan's ignorance and all the small necessary transitions that needed to be made to join the two trilogies (Padme's death, C3PO's memory wipe, the whole Qui-Gon explanation, Yoda's feeling like he has to exile b/c he couldn't defeat the emperor)--all of those felt like cop-outs, like lucas couldn't think of anything more creative and just stated the obvious
but the fight scenes were unreal, the opening space battle was just breath taking, the duels at the end were perfect, grievous with lightsabres looked better in the cartoon but it got better, mace windu fighting the emperor was great except for the whole being thrown out the window and stuff 5/19/2005 3:25:10 AM |
