why don't you Canes fans get some class and pay some respects to O'neill. How classless is it to boo someone who gave his blood, sweat, and tears to your team. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Oh, get the fuck over yourself you arrogant cocklicking n00b--everybody in that goddamn shootout got booed, not just O'Neill. Sheesh.

Thats funny....how about booing him when he took the ice, or when he scored his goal, and then when they announced that the goal was scored by O'neill.

Its not arrogance, its respect. Which Canes fans know little about.....

Go Flyers Go

Go Leafs go

So what? Nothing that hasn't been done to other ex-Canes.

Respect, huh? Sounds like you're not one to talk--especially given the teams you cheer for.

O'Neil wanted out of Carolina....that's no secret. He wanted to play for a contender and he was tired of being driven around Raleigh because of his DUI.

I think Canes fans reserve the right to boo someone who basically asked out of the organization.

Hell of a game though.

You're pathetic....The guy didn't want to change teams for any other reason than to be with his family after the death of his brother and you boo him.....thats sad

No Leaf fan would ever boo their top players if and when they left. Dougie Gilmore goes to the much hated habs...he didn't get booed, if Mats ever left...he wouldn't get booed.

Are you telling me that if Ronnie Francis still played and was playing for the Leafs you would boo him? Thats pretty damn sad

and I'll second the fat bitch

Are you kidding me? Jeff loved it here. Do you know that the kids brother died????? He wanted to be with his family....otherwise Rutherford wouldn't have let him go for such a bargin

Man you people are confused

come on. you honestly think that when Lindros or LeClair go back to philly they will be booed??? when Lindros played for the rangers they gave him a standing O. its just the fans in carolina having absolutly no idea about the game of hockey. its okay though.

every damn game i go to, its "gawlly ya'll, 2002 was such a great year." this place was full of redneck bandwagon fans that tried to figure out what icing was.

Didn't remember that til you reminded me....that does make it a little different. Regardless of his reasons, he still wanted to leave. I'm not saying that justifies booing him...I was there last night near the ice and I never did. In some people's eyes it might justify it for them though.

We're in the middle of ACC country where people are loyal to their team..their one and only team. When the place is packed like it was last night, that's what makes it a great crowd...but the culture of the ACC also makes it difficult for people to differentiate between loyalty and how professional sports work.

I'm sure you'll understand if I don't put a lot of stock into what a Philthadelphia fan has to say--after all, you do come from a city that booed Santa Claus and cheered when a guy was given a potentially career-ending injury, and cheer for a team whose GM is proud of having made a career of being a cheap-shotting dirty player.

Are you telling me that you're so stupid that you think every last one of the 18.730 people in the RBC Center last night booed O'Neill?

I don't care. I didn't boo Francis when he went to the Leafs. I didn't boo O'Neill. Hell, I didn't even boo Gary Roberts, Sean Hill, or Keith Primeau. The only former Whalercane I ever boo is Brendan fucking Shanahan (and I booed him well before 2002). So take that tar brush and kindly ram it up your ass.

I would say that Toronto fans are more classless, but I've met enough of them to know that doofi like jesgani and dbldwn11 aren't representative of the entire fanbase and that most Leafs fans are actually pretty cool.

Yep, I'm classless.... When have I ever displayed classlessness towards my team or any other team? All I said was that it was pathetic to boo former players.

The only thing I've been guilty of is being a die hard leaf fan and standing up to the old and tiring "1967" comments. If thats classless than you're more confused that I thought

Haha...you are so clueless. The whole city was in uproar when they let Cujo go. At NO point were leaf fans pissed at him. Pissed at the organization, yes, but never at Cujo.

Would you PLEASE do your research...

Don't think so, Tim--the people that were outraged that he got let go were at best even with the crowd who had the attitude of "well, he was garbage anyway".

But please, don't let me stop you from continuing to act all cooler-than-thou.

Its not an act...I'm pretty damn cool....

I'm not going to continue spending my day throwing jabs back and forth. I love the game of hockey as much as you and any other true Hockey fan.

Its the "I just like hockey cause its something to do" fans who know nothing about the sport or respect former players that bothers me. If you have a problem with it, thats super...

I'm gonna go on pulling for my team, loving the blue and white, and paying respect to any player who played with dignity for my team. The only former leaf I will ever boo is Shane Corson.

The End

You people have got it all wrong. People were booing O'Neill because they were disappointed in his god-awful +/-. They were trying to spur him into playing defense.

Anyway, it's quite obvious he's hurt again. He's hitting like Vrbata.

What a shitty game--not as shitty as that 9-0 embarrassment, but still shitty.

Of course, you never know. The 'Canes could go marching into Philips Arena on Tuesday night and beat the crap out of the Thrashers. Wouldn't that be something.

I wouldn't say shitty game.....the 1st and 2nd periods were actually decent hockey (minus 1 bad play by the D and one by Gerber). The 3rd period WAS horrible though.
