My team was swept by our archrivals because our goalie was just coming back from an injury he probably wasn't fully healed from and our top player was a moron and decided to throw a meaningless check that pretty much put him out of the series. We were probably going to lose all the same though.

as a seasoned USA hockey official going to national camp in a few weeks (No relation to national league, although thier officials are instructors) I can tell you that that was definately a penalty shot....but it did look like there were some pretty shitty calls in the 1st. No he didnt intentionally pull the puck in but he made no effort to move off of the puck after he knew that it was under him. But, anyways...go canes!!

ok so i've seen some bitter Sabres fans, a few Oiler fans, and some other fans from the North and Canada saying on message boards that Carolina doesn't deserve a team, and doesn't deserve the Cup. mainly because we're from the South and don't know hockey. well i want to say fuck them. i was born and raised in Charlotte, and i started playing ice hockey when i was four years old back in 1988. i know hockey, love it, and love going to see games. whether those games are ECHL games or NHL games, i always love it. not all of the people from the Carolinas are ass backwards thinking, tobacco chewing, nascar lovers that talk with a thick southern accent!

BTW to show you how lame OLN is, they have the world strongman contest in Sao Paolo Brazil on, and there is probably 50 people in the entire coliseum, so they focus the camera on a group of like 8 people who are bored out of their minds, and put a crowd cheer soundtrack on for awhile so its sounded like the RBC Center did tonight. Its so pitiful, you can see the stands are empty.

sorry if this has been mentioned before, but:

the story of this series will be the absence of dwayne roloson and how that prevented edmonton from "fielding" its best team, thus leading to either an undeserved/asteriked stanley cup finals victory for carolina, or a fucking book/movie about the resilience of the edmonton oilers





hopefully someone will remember to add to that story the small detail that is the FOUR goals we scored on roloson in game 1 (in a span of ~ 13 minutes)
