Just want to state for the record that anyone who brags about the physics of the game should be laughed off the face of the Earth.

Keep in mind, I realize the game isn't supposed to be necessarily realistic, but of all the positives of the game, the physics aren't something to be bragged about. It's like "yeah, cool, physics!" except for the whole backing a two seat convertible into a tractor trailer while going like 5mph nearly flips the tractor trailer over somehow.

There's a difference between impressive reactionary physics and realistic physics. Those aren't one in the same. I've posted before about how cool the physics are not because they reproduce reality, but because they clip correctly and react in really cool ways that other games are quite awkward at.

I'm glad the physics are exaggerated. They should be...it's grand theft auto!

When you first get to walk around in the game and go downstairs you can clip through the stairwell.

I've already had two weird things happen. I took a few swings at a random customer in the diner and walked out. When he chased me down he had a 'clone' with him that was identical and making the exact same movements and punches. They didn't take a hit the same way though. Then I hotwired a car on the side of the street while being chased by cops and either fell through the world or the entire environment sans car turned blue and lasted about 15 seconds. When it was over my wanted level was gone.

this is what makes the physics of GTA IV next-gen and badass. NOT the driving physics but the character's. The driving physics of the game have never been that of Forza or GT (for obvious reasons).

That didn't stop me from having a blast with the game. But you just gotta throw your two cents in, don't you? Give it a rest. No one has said the game is perfect. Yes it does have its flaws, but it does a tons more right than it does wrong. So instead of actually going out to look for things that are wrong and then constantly dwelling on them, why not actually try to have some fun with the game. I guess that might be too much to ask from someone so obviously as miserable as yourself.

Well aren't you just a little rockstar then. (That's a pun!)

My whole point was more towards Kainen's look how awesome the physics and interaction is in this here animated GIF, when they're not that impressive. The game is fluid and things do interact with one another, but people seem to be expecting the kind of interaction you're going to find in say, Half Life 2 or even the Euphoria video above and it's not there. The note about clipping through the first area you walk through was more a joke because it's silly to see the polish on the rest of the game and then experience that.

The cinematic car view is pretty cool and works really well and some cars (the sports cars/motorcycle) give a very nice sense of speed. The cellphone is pretty cool as well. Otherwise, it seems to be a lot like GTA3 (which I never played myself, just watched get played) -- so if you liked the earlier versions, you'll like this. The storyline is interesting enough and while grating at first, the voice acting will grow on you.

Crashes look great and when porcha was cruising through the city with his wheel wells on fire looked great.

I still can't go in reverse worth a damn and I blame the camera for that (huge whiner here, folks!), but as I made clear earlier, I suck at games. Another thing that's a little weird with the game (maybe the other GTAs were like this?) but the game talked about how if you die and get revived at the hospital, you still have most of your money, whereas if you're arrested you lose money and your guns. If you die at the hands of the cops though, you get to keep all your stuff. I guess it makes sense, but it caught me offguard.

I mean, I honestly didn't think I was shitting on the game or at the very least didn't intend to. I was more trying to clear up misconceptions with certain things that were being posted.

It's fun though, but I doubt I'll play it much longer. I just have no attention span whatsoever, but free roaming city games generally hold my attention a bit longer.

And yeah, I've only seen cops with guns, no tasers.
