6 point game at the half
gators are still shooting 62% from the field and have made 6 threes (to ASU's 1)
after going down 17-3, they finished the half on a 26-16 run 3/25/2008 9:07:51 PM |

The Az St fans don't seem very smart. I realize they've never been good at basketball, so maybe they don't know any better, but it seemed like they cheered louder when calls went against them a few times.
And did they ever get out of that ugly ass zone? How many 3's have to be shot back to back to get that shit out of here... 3/25/2008 9:53:44 PM |

fussballer is a terrible troll. He just made up nearly everything he said.
Quote : | "I tuned into their NIT game last week and couldn't help but notice that Herbie had pulled that same shit that he did at NCSU where he took every ounce of color off of the Arizona State floor and had no names on the back of the jerseys. Leave it to Mr. Carnegie Mellon to suck the fun and flash out of college basketball. He's damn good at that, feasting on cupcakes, and giving the most God awful analogies." |
The floor was already like that. And suck the flash out? So you rather have a coach that is all flash and a joke to everyone in the media like Chuck? Herb is one of the most respected coaches.
Quote : | "Yeah, even FSU had more success against UNC and Duke during that time span. I just will always remember Herb for tanking games. His first season in the old round robin we made it through the entire first half of the acc schedule with a big 0-8. That's putrid. He also succeeded at losing any "big" non conference games in November and December (a price paid by feasting on no name cupcakes). Down in SC in 04 for example. Or a lousy loss in the Big Ten Challenge against a terrible OSU team in the early part of this decade. Him and his lousy Princeton offense was like waving the white flag. It, like him produced boring and lousy results. What real coach honestly runs that shit? Bielin? Who else? Nobody of worth!" |
1) When did FSU ever beat UNC? I guess Clemson had more success too.
2) You said 0-8 in his first go round of round-robin but fail to mention we went 4-4 to finish and made the ACCT finals with the same 5 playing the whole games. (Gainey, Benjamin, Harrison, Strong, Hyatt)
3) We won at Syracuse Julius's fresh year and in his last season we won at Alabama and gave George Washington 1 of their 2 total losses for the year.
4) Herb was 4-3 in the challenge including an upset at ranked Purdue in 99.
5) JT3 runs the Princeton. Our current system is much better BTW. It's boring and awful at the same time!3/26/2008 12:44:48 AM |

i still like herb, and if i was an asu fan, i'd be glad he was around since he has shown a propensity for bringing terrrible teams back to respectability
that said
has this been a typical herb season or what? slightly overachieved in the reg season, a few disappointing losses, a few surprising wins, a disappointing pac-10 tourney exit as a bubble team and a choke in the postseason as the higher seed. 3/26/2008 7:25:05 AM |

GD Boateng, that has to be one of the worst FT percentages I've seen in forever...19-52 this year. There were probably 100 players in the NCAA that shot better from the 3 point line this year.
Any idea as to when the OOC schedule for next year comes out? 3/26/2008 9:45:31 AM |

they play in the Anaheim Classic and the other teams in that are: Wake Forest, Arkansas, Providence, UTEP, Cal State Fullerton, Baylor and UNC Charlotte. decent field
they play Nebraska at home in the PAC10/Big12 challenge

Yes I'm a terrible troll despite the fact I've followed NCSU basketball since I was old enough to give a damn about sports and yes I make everything up as if I were a two year old. Here are some of Herb's many jewels to which I was referring. These are all November and December games with a few exceptions but for the few times I have included games in other months, they are not represented in the won/loss categories. Out next to each season I have placed the overall records for November and December followed by the record against BCS conference teams which is generous b/c Central Florida, ECU, and Houston for example aren't exactly basketball powers. IF there was any early season ACC game it is included numerically but I did not type them out as losses. Losses that were to non BCS schools are typed out but not included in the numerical record. Seeing his overall record compared to that of his record against BCS schools is a joke. Just goes to show that he feasted on the cupcakes and never sought to take NCSU basketball beyond average at best. 96/97 (9-2 overall, 4-2 vs. BCS) 12/21 vs. Kansas 56-84 (Ouch) Actually, not bad for his first year. 97/98 (11-2 overall, 2-1 vs. BCS) 11/12 vs. Princeton 36-38 (Did they have a shot clock?), 11/29 vs. Penn St. 57-61 98/99 (8-3 overall, 2-2 vs. BCS) 11/24 vs. Providence 69-80, 12/22 vs. OSU 64-81 99/00 ( 9-1 overall, 2-1 vs. BCS) 12/22 vs. Tulane 62-73 00/01 (8-3 overall, 1-2 vs. BCS) 11/18 vs. UNCC 78-95 (in one of Herb's crappy made up preseason tourneys), 11/22 vs. Fresno State (63-82), 12/09 vs. UGA 63-68 01/02 (11-2 overall, 3-2 vs. BCS) 11/27 vs. OSU 50-64 (yet another loss to OSU in bball), 12/01 vs. UMASS (Marcus Camby had beeeeeeeen gone, no excuse for this) 02/03 (7-1 overall, 2-0 vs. BCS)12/17 vs. Gonzaga 60-69, plus these two for good measure in January, 1/02 vs. UMASS 56-68 (again?), and on 1/16 vs. BC (prior to joining league) 81-93. 03/04 (6-2 overall, 1-2 vs. BCS)12/02 vs. Michigan 61-68, 12/20 vs. SC 55-58, plus this one for kicks... vs. BC on 2/20 another L 65-66 04/05 (10-2 overall, 3-1 vs. BCS)12/19 vs. Washington 64-68, 12/30 vs. St. John's 45-63 (embarrassing loss for Jules back in NY), and just barely in January on 1/02 a loss to WVU 69-82. 05/06 (10-1 overall, 3-1 vs. BCS)11/30 vs. Iowa 42-45 1. You're right, his first team did get hot at the end of the year just as Sidney Lowe's team did. Boy did those two instances transition well into the following season! 2. Yes, we did win at Syracuse Jules freshman year but the year prior to that we had a home game that was televised nationally by CBS against them and choked it away down the stretch against the cuse. 65-66 on 2/3/01. 3. Herb was 4-3 in the big ten/acc challenge... AND? Against who? He got favorable draws. He never had to deal with Wisconsin or Michigan State. Instead he got a Michigan program in a tailspin, OSU, Penn State, and Purdue a time or two. Nothing to get excited over there. 4. I distinctly remember Arizona State's floor having maroon on it because we played out in the desert Les Robinson's last year. But in between then and Herb's year I was not aware they had changed it. Forgive my many shortcomings as ASU is not even in my time zone 5. Herb won only 62 percent of his games against BCS schools which does not cut it for any school striving to be in the upper tier of the ACC. As I said, you could always count on his team to be ill prepared for any competitive opponent during the early part of the season. They always left you with head scratching losses. Better coaching combined with a better schedule may have paid dividends come March. 6. Obviously I don't want Herb to be like Chuck but at least somewhat of a personality could have bought him more support instead of dividing the fan base with his chopping wood bs. Herb is better suited at teaching a World's Religion class or Philosophy on a college campus than teaching young men his boring brand of basketball. 3/26/2008 7:14:08 PM |

^yeah, you're right, i got caught up in trying to label a school as "big" or big name besides say the NCA&T's and the Stetson's of the world but the reason I listed those three is that technically they could get an at large and some of the school's in CUSA are large enrollment wise. 3/27/2008 3:20:26 PM |
