^What's the source of that? i still don't see a lot of precip on the radar...unless you're talking about the stuff way to the west...even that doesn't look too impressive

That's from Alan Huffman's blog: http://www.examiner.com/x-4053-Raleigh-Weather-Examiner~y2010m3d2-Snowstorm-to-affect-the-triangle-tonight. He has a pretty good explanation for what he thinks will happen.

he said by 6-8PM accumulating snow over the triangle.... looks like a big negative so far...

he says the precip will fill in as the low heads up the coast, we'll see

ha, news 14 say we're on the edge of 1-2" and 3-5". I'll believe it when I see it.

7PM - 3AM has always been the time for accumulations here once the low comes up the coast.

People calling this a bust at 5 PM just have no clue what they're looking at.

The radar is going to change SIGNIFICANTLY as the low off the coast pivots (is that the right word) the precip. It's already forming some light rain over Raleigh out of seemingly nowhere...

greg fishel just said the main precip is moving out and we need to find a new mechanism to bring in precip....

he did mention the precip down in south carolina...but said we'd just have to watch it

http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/27603?zoom=8&interactiveMapLayer=radar&from=today_nontropical_map

Radar is starting to fill in... The low off the coast is all but stalled (for now) so the precip isn't going anywhere. It's all about the temps.

It snows one second and then sleets the next down here a 1/2 mile from downtown.

Was snowing hard for like two hours on campus.

But now it's a mix and it looks like the snow is receding somewhat.

Think classes will be affected?

It turned out to be the lamest event here in charlotte. Maybe got 1/2" on the grass, but only because it was snowing like crazy. Really temps never got low enough. Hopefully nice weather shows up from here on out.

You had to be in Lee County for this one. I "snow chased" and found the following:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81A5N76x4rw

(Sorry don't know how to embed on here).

The video shows 2" per hour rates, a couple of power flashes, and where I got stuck for 3 hours on US-1 just south of Sanford due to a stuck semi and car blocking the road.

National Severe Weather Awareness Week! Who else remembers a few years ago when they postponed the tornado drill.....because there was a threat of an actual tornado!

^Yup, I remember that. We're making the rounds to the schools out here this week and next getting them prepared and educate them more about weather.

It's starting to get a little active out here in Oklahoma. Risk of some strong to severe storms on Sunday. We're busy putting together our severe weather show and outfitting the chase vehicles with live streaming video capabilities like the big stations in OKC and Dallas. Looking forward to this spring!

Spring break is next week, March 15th - 19th. All the 10 day forcasts say it is going to be raining at least at the start of the week. What do you people think?

This is getting crazy for you guys out there! Next POSSIBLE chance for rain would be Thursday night or Friday morning. You should get some decent thunderstorms out of it. Then another large ridge of high pressure dominates the eastern US for at least another week. Could see more record high temps. Every system that has hit us hard with severe weather here in OK just breaks apart before it gets to the East Coast.
