I think I've found the disconnect
Cleveland fans seem to think the most important thing in the NBA is being well-liked by the fans you play for
James seems to have realized that the most important thing in the NBA is to win rings and thus is putting himself in a better position to do so 7/11/2010 12:03:55 PM |

Quote : | "was just watching sportscenter and they were doing a piece on the reaction of the city of miami, one of the fans/citizens they interviewed said that Lebron shouldve stayed in Cleveland and its always going to be Wade's team.
I thought Cleveland fans, who are against the trade, were the only people making that point, I wonder if hes not going to be embraced as much in miami as he would like. I guess once they start winning games he will convert the doubtful, but I just found it interesting and wonder if its a common sentiment down there. Miami isnt exactly known for having the most fervent or educated fanbase, but maybe they just interviewed the wrong guy on the street." |
I'm from Miami and although most people are like "FUCK YEAH!" 100% of the true heart heat fans that are fans of the nba and not just fans of anything miami don't like this idea. There is really nothing to cheer for anymore. Everything is sour and the thrill of the chase is gone. It feels like we've sold our selves to the devil. We are no longer just have the materialisic image but that goes along with the yankee image of buying championships.
There are also a few people like me who will just entirely give up being a heat fan for the next 5 years. I was never a die hard fan though.7/11/2010 1:23:57 PM |

That's unfortunate. A legacy is more than the rings you win. How many rings do the citizens of Chicago have? None, but they all cherish Jordan because he resurrected the city in multiple ways. If you are insinuating that all NBA players care about is having a piece of metal around their finger, I'd disagree with you--but, I don't think you're necessarily saying that, you're just talking about LBJ. With that being said, what Lebron did was pretty short-sighted and he's basically hedged his legacy.

man, Ben Wallace re-signs with Detroit thats a huge miss for Miami. Only $1.3 mil per season for 2 years I cant believe no contenders were interested after his big season. The Celtics paid Jermaine Oneal like 5 times that, how the hell does that make sense? He's totally washed up...
I guess they are thinking O'Neals size will help them more against Howard and/or the Lakers front line but that was a lot of money to spend on a guy who looked dead in the playoffs. 7/11/2010 8:16:59 PM |

isnt Ben Wallace bigger than Jermaine Oneal? I know Oneal has fattened up recently, but I would still think he's smaller than Wallace
just checked, Ben Wallace is 6'-9", 240 lb, born Sept. 20, 1974 Jermaine Oneal is 6'-11", 255lb, born Oct. 13, 1978
I stand corrected, I never knew Oneal was an inch shy of 7 feet. Wallace always just looked bigger to me, maybe they're the same height when Wallace has the fro working
Wallace in his prime was chiseled. Looked like his muscles had muscles

You have to make a real ass out of yourself to make jesse jackson look like the rational one.
That letter was race related it had to be. You wouldn't have seen that if dirk or nash left for miami that's for sure.

^ the only reason you wouldn't have seen that letter if Dirk or Nash left for Miami is because they aren't on a team owned by that idiot Gilbert.

please tell me thats a joke, or I will be convinced that you have now decided to troll this thread. Gilbert was totally wrong for writing that letter, and even more of a dumbass for releasing it to the public. I dont agree with anything in the letter and you will not hear be siding with Gilbert on anything that he wrote, but to insinuate that it is race related is pretty ludicrous. ^^thats the most bogus race card thats ever been played. Its not like a white alternative to lebron left a gilbert owned franchise a few years back and its not like the reasoning for gilberts rant isn't CLEAR ASS DAY OBVIOUS.
It comes down to character which is about as far from racism as you can get. Lebron sold out his state that supported him. Remember its not just about the fact that lebron left its how he left
1.he waited to the last minute thus screwing 5 teams out of signing other players 2.he did it on tv 3.he didn't tell the teams about his decision until several days after making it.

Give me a fucking break.
Black people have designed their entire race around being classless.
Punching, stealing, not working, not wearing real clothes, being punks, and taking handouts.
Lebron decided within one week of free agency to choose to take his services elsewhere.
I realize it isnt normal for a black to have jobs to choose from, so maybe thats why you niggers are so uppity over this, but Lebron is a normal human who used thought process to come to a decision.

The way I see it is...Kobe is as good as if not better than either Lebron or Wade. That cancels one of them out. Gasol is better than Bosh IMO. Comes down to the last superstar for Miami along with Mike Miller and Haslem compared to Bynum, Artest, Odom, Fisher, Brown and Blake.
Throw in Phil Jackson and not sure why some fools are making it a clear path ring for the 3 queens. 7/13/2010 12:07:41 AM |

kobes definately equal to or greater than lebron or wade when they are on the same team. they are different players though...kobe could outshoot either one but they are both better penetrators. Kobes a better on ball defender but they are better of ball defenders. Kobes more clutch than either one and has more veteran experience. 7/13/2010 10:09:47 AM |

everyone talks about the lebron kobe argument, if wade gets a couple of more titles what about that? unlike lebron, wade doesn't have to prove he can totally explode in the playoffs when his team needs him, he just did that as well as kobe, too bad his team was worthless, and his finals performance might have been better than anything kobe has done

It should be noted that Wade's performance in that series was less about basketball talent and more about the ability to draw foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul after foul by running full speed into the lane. 7/13/2010 10:21:36 PM |
