Don't know if anybody has mentioned this, but don't waste your time/money going to IMAX at Marbles for TDKR. It's not even on film. 7/25/2012 9:47:12 AM |

The entire reason I paid extra to see it at Marbles was that a large portion of the movie was shot on 70mm film, which is absolutely breathtaking. I guess i should have done my research, but Marbles isn't showing TDKR on film (they showed The Dark Knight on 70mm). Watching it on a digital projector that is of noticeably worse quality than 35mm film for $15.50/ticket after fees is a fucking ripoff. 7/25/2012 10:08:41 AM |

even still, marbles is going to be a much better experience than crossroads IMAX. the screen is still drastically bigger and the sound is much better in comparison.

True, the sound was very, very good at Marbles.
The only NC theater showing it on 70 is IMAX in Charlotte. 7/25/2012 11:15:16 AM |

IMAX in Charlotte is actually an OmniMAX dome, if you're talking about Discovery Place. The IMAX theaters at Stonecrest aren't actually IMAX screens, to the best of my knowledge. 7/25/2012 11:19:36 AM |

since the Myrtle Beach one is closed

It was like Sean Connery fucked Darth Vader and bane was the resulting baby. I mean I guess that could be considered perfect.
And every time he spoke it was so clearly ADR'd and didn't sonically fit with the rest of the people talking at all. I know he's talking through a thing that wouldn't sound normal, but it still sounded beyond weird and out of place to me.7/26/2012 11:52:51 AM |

A) I'm sure there are places other than that prison in which one could be "born into darkness." (that prison really wasn't that dark from what I could SEE)
B) There's no debating about the fact that he was definitely in the prison. He was not the one that escaped as a child, but that does not mean he wasn't born there as well. We don't know that he was, but we don't know that he wasn't.
C) Maybe he was referring to himself in regard to his current state (requiring the mask and what not) as being born in darkness since that happened to him in the prison. Or perhaps he's referring to a "rebirth" in the league of shadows (probably a lot of darkness in the shadows afterall... and batman was in the league of shadows and he's really into darkness and stuff).
IDK, seems like the line could work in a variety of ways.

I agree that the audio was way off on Bane's voice. so obviously ADR'd, never sounded quite right.
I enjoyed the movie though. trying not to overthink it because there is a lot there to nitpick, but who cares. I still think Batman Begins is my favorite of the three. Dark Knight my least favorite. 7/26/2012 10:35:30 PM |

This drove me nuts as well. I know Bane is supposed to be extremely intelligent and figured out Batman's identity based on his own research in the comics (IIRC), so I was waiting for some kind of reveal like this to occur. When it _never_ got mentioned, I figured the writers just assumed we knew that Bane knew because Raj al Guul knew and therefore the entire League of Shadows knew (sooooooo bad).
They could have easily fixed that by changing Bane's one line where he calls out Bruce to something like "The League of Shadows never forgets . . . Mr. Wayne". It ticks me off that a point like this wasn't well established, but then we get a terrible hand-holding scene about the Clean Slate program:
"Where is the Clean Slate program?!" "The Clean State program? You mean the program where you can enter anyone's name into the interface input and remove all traces of their past, effectively giving them a clean start???"
That's not word-for-word, but lines that are clearly directed at the audience (in non-subtle manners) really breaks the tension.

Exactly.
I thought it was pretty fantastic overall--both Bane and Catwoman worked well for me. I didn't have trouble understanding what he was saying except for a couple of times only. I did have a few questions/gripes though:
-How exactly did Bane know the location of (and existence of) Batman's arsenal? Mole inside the company? Miranda shouldn't have known about it early enough for it to make a difference when they started digging. -It does seem like the scene where Blake gives Gordon a hard time about the criminals being locked away without parole due to the Dent act being a lie, doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the framework of the story. Maybe it was supposed to add characterization of why he leaves the force? -I respect Nolan's decision not to mention the Joker out of respect for Ledger, but it does leave a void in the storyline--seems he'd be first in line to get another shot at Batman once Bane's thugs open up Arkham (or wherever he is). -Agree that Gotham seems to have been toned down/lightened up too much, and that it is just an undisguised NYC here. Unless the incident with Ra's caused them to take down the entire above-ground transportation system (doubtful) it does seem an important piece of Wayne Enterprises' work that is simply gone.

i just don't agree with his logic. Ledger created an incredible take on an iconic character, and his way of respecting that is to pretend like he never existed? I completely understand not recasting it or even having someone else try to voice him, but this is THE iconic batman villain, so i think it would have been a lot more respectful to at least allude to him and his impact.
just another random gripe, and i'm sure it was done for the ratings, but Bane snapped like 3 dudes necks, and broke the Bat, some breaking sound effects would have been nice. They were completely left out. i was just like "oh, i guess that dude is dead now since Banes hand has been there for a few seconds"
overall i still like the movie, but i think it really falls apart if you start thinking too much about it
