you changed "lots of black twitter" into "a large portion of black people". completely different statements. Stop trying to misrepresent what i'm saying just so you can fit me into a breitbart box.
You don't even know how to use the damn internet and no one should have to post fucking tweets to prove they exist. its just a one off mention of something someone tweeted and you want a works cited page to prove someone on the internet tweeted something stupid and it wasn't completely made up. unbelieveable...(but i'll play) https://twitter.com/search?q=cosby%20legacy&src=typd&lang=en
If you look at the top, everyone is responding to the people who were defending his legacy, but if you go back to the 25th/26th, you'll start seeing more of the posts in reaction to the verdict. It goes on and on and on.

You follow all those people? Most of em have like 1 RT, like or reply.
Not sure that's representative of "alot of black twitter" especially when most of the top results are against that narrative. Also when you search "cosby legacy" you are much more likely to get supporters bc most people aren't worried about his legacy
Also how many of the accounts you posted shat on kanye and/or Chance, bc they are supposed to be doing both right?
I saw plenty of people knocking Kanye, fewer knocking chance and none defending Cosby.
You can't go out searching for something after acting like to naturally showed up on your timeline. I could do some pretty mild searches and come on here saying "look white twitter is just a bunch of racists"
You couldn't just say "some people are defending cosby on Twitter" bc who cares, some people are garbage. You decided to frame it that "alot of black twitter" is garbage. 4/29/2018 6:07:03 PM |

I don't know any of those accounts, I only posted them because you couldn't believe that posts like that even existed and thought I had to make it up. I'm not going to out my friends by posting their posts to a messageboard. I commented or DMed them what i thought but I'm not going to drag them around the internet.
"A lot" is arbitrary and that is already a lot. It doesn't need to be "most" as you are insinuating.
Quote : | "You can't go out searching for something after acting like to naturally showed up on your timeline." |
It did. Thats why its silly for you to say I'm making up what I saw on my timeline.
Quote : | " I could do some pretty mild searches and come on here saying "look white twitter is just a bunch of racists" " |
another misrepresentation. "A lot" vs "just"
Quote : | "You decided to frame it that "alot of black twitter" is garbage." |
those are your words. I didn't say anything about "garbage" and would never think someone is garbage just because they have an opinion i don't like. Thats why I have such a diverse timeline with extreme views from all over in the first place.
They aren't garbage and if you read the posts can you gain some insight into why they feel that way. Its an emotional response to a sensitive issue on a complicated topic.
It seems like you only associate with people who share the same views as you because everyone else is "contrarian" or "garbage".

The Koch Brothers are also massive philanthropists, but their political views are abhorrent and dangerous. Schultz can fuck right off.
Pay-go means that funding for social programs can't be increased without paying for it elsewhere, usually meaning cuts to other social programs. In theory, they could also accomplish this by cutting defense spending or raising taxes on the rich, but obviously those are absurd scenarios.

These are logistics that are secondary to the argument tbh, and I don't know the right answers. Opening the borders substantially is a step forward, then we can argue about more incremental steps.

Without getting into too much detail, I'll just say this:
Our current system allows capital to cross borders freely and without obstruction, while labor is restricted to artificial boundaries. This is the root cause of conflict and migration, as capital (think: NAFTA, tax holidays, outsourcing, corporate tax rates, offshore bank accounts, etc) goes where taxes are lowest and labor laws are the most lax, while workers are denied entry to territories with beneficial labor laws and working conditions. This inherently tilts the table in favor of capitalists and puts workers in direct competition with one another along regional lines. Add in the punishing hammer of imperialism and resource extraction from third world countries, and you create the conditions of extreme poverty, thereby creating asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution and violence in search of work (commonly referred to as "a better life").
If we view migration patterns as a labor struggle in addition to being a humanitarian issue, then the case for "Internationalism" can be made effectively. Worker solidarity is an important component to socialist thought (workers of the WORLD, unite!). Raising the baseline working conditions of overseas labor is important and should be integral to the left, because it reduces the pool of cheap, exploitable labor that can be found the world over. If you raise the baseline conditions and demand just compensation for brown skinned workers just as you would for white skinned workers, and agitate for collective ownership of natural resources, then you reduce the likelihood of private enterprises fleeing towns so that they can maximize their profit off of the backs of unpaid laborers.
That doesn't answer your question at the nuts-and-bolts level, but that is more or less the argument for open borders. Like most issues of inequality, it is a labor issue as much as it is a humanitarian issue.6/20/2018 5:01:17 PM |

explain how open borders does that in even the slightest. It practice, it has the opposite effect of suppressing labor costs in open border countries while doing nothing to address the underlying problems in other countries. It also disincentives funding investments in education, since it's cheaper to import people that other countries shelled out money on education for and than it is to educate your own. We see this already in the unwillingness of companies to pay for training employees, since job mobility is prevalent today and it's not worth the investment if the employee simply leaves afterwards.6/20/2018 5:19:22 PM |

im on a computer rather than my phone so im just going to ramble.....
Most of this is addressing labor which I don't really see is the point of 'open boarders". Currently labor is moved all over the world but it does not give people citizenship in the country they are working in.
With the EU, the took a huge block of countries and allowed people to move throughout it with little issue. This has caused some issues and some great results. One issue being everyone is trying to move to Germany and Scandinavia. Leaving Eastern Europe, Spain and Southern Italy with less skilled labor. https://www.citylab.com/life/2017/09/european-demographics-aging-employment-migration/540084/.
The USA is a huge amount of land that allows people to travel with no issue. I see this being useful for combined countries through agreements and treaties. If North America allowed for people to travel and live throughout it, it might remove some of the issues central america has today and cause more cash flow. It might also gut it of skilled labor and completely fuck it up.
Taking all of this in account, the middle east and asian will never be on board with this. If the USA, Canada, Mexico and the EU allowed for free movement of people it might be a good start. 6/20/2018 5:39:15 PM |
