The physical addiction to nicotine is broken within a couple of days. The psychological addiction is the tough part.

a nicotine addiction may have comparable qualities to heroin addiction, but to compare cigarettes to heroin is asinine. like, just absurd.

one is as high of a functioning drug as you can imagine and you cannot overdose on it, and one is the exact opposite.

I literally can't believe that people don't know that nicotine is more addictive than heroin. Look up the definition of the word addiction. It has nothing to do with side effects, withdrawl or how well you can function on the drug.

Given sample size I know a higher % of heroin quitters than I do smokers (and that includes weed).

All I'm saying is that rehab for smoking would take 16 years.

psychologically, you might be able to argue that a nicotine addiction is similar to a heroin addiction, since mental addictions pretty much all work the same way. but you aren't even saying that. you're saying it's WORSE. which is total horseshit and you have absolutely zero way of proving it. the only people who are dumb enough to believe in this myth are heavy smokers who are in denial and want to give themselves an excuse to keep smoking.

i didn't look up the defnition, but how does withdrawal have nothing to do with addiction? You go through withdrawal because your body is addicted to the drug and it's not getting it. With heroine, your body becomes violently ill without the drug. With nicotine, you become agitated.

you can repeat it all you want. from other dictionaries even.

you still don't understand the difference between a physical and psychological addiction, or how tolerance works.

i really don't think you were 'arguing' anything other than your misguided belief that heroin is less addictive than nicotine, which several people in this thread (let alone the medical community) disagree with.

if that's your 'argument', i strongly suggest you learn the difference between a physical dependency (addiction) and a mental obsession (addiction). They are similar and closely related, yet also very, very different.

saying "I'm addicted to shooting up smack" is one thing, saying, "I'm addicted to my Tony" is quite another...

both equally frightening...but WAY different

My whole argument is based around the fact that it easier to quit heroin than nicotine speaking purely in numbers. If you don't know your personality and how you interact with addictive things then you're fucked- but if you do then it is not really unreasonable to quit heroin assuming you don't inject. It has nothing to do with how severe it is. That just reflects how much of a bitch you are

No, I've read this whole thing. gunzz linked to a bunch of white papers related to Nicotine addiction.

UJustWait84 linked to a wiki file containing a graph, which drew criticism for using wiki as a source.

So how would anyone know you were referring to the white papers, not the graph, when you said "more graphs without any sources."

You keep trying to argue with people for not reading. More likely you're having difficulty communicating your point.

I only go to doctors who cite michaelshouse & blurtit as their go to sources of breaking news in the medicinal field

Re: nicotine vs heroin

I think nicotine could be worse gram for gram. Nicotine is pretty gnarly shit... It's just that a Camel has a lot less nicotine than the amount of opiate in an OxyContin pill or a syringe full of smack.
