But yeah, our record was too awful and he had a few poor games that kinda kill it for him. He was a top 2-3 candidate halfway through the regular season, then tapered off down the stretch.

Well just looking at stats is a terrible idea. Theres tons of things that aren't statted that have just as much of an impact as stats do as far as how they contribute to winning.

Abu definitely has to be on there. And you can't act like Warren would've been just as good without Gott coaching him (it's not like he was a lockdown defender) and then act like none of the other 16/20 might've had ceilings or their own lack of motivation issues.

caleb has a vastly improved 3 point shot

kyle washington's second year included improved shooting at every spot plus better rebounding and defense

JVD went from "wait, this guy plays basketball" to just a liability

even Lo and Leslie were way better under Gott than Lowe.

^ it all depends on his goals...if he's just ready to make money and support a family then he'll be able to do that now whether it's in the NBA or elsewhere. i don't think you can rate the decision solely on where he's projected to be drafted.

Can't fault Cat. He probably looks at what happened to Paige this year and realizes that could be him. (Great guard comes back to a great team and just can't find his groove with another PG running things [Joel Berry in Paige's case]. In turn, he goes from a fringe first rounder to completely vanishing off draft boards.

I think Cat's game translates really well to the NBA. He might never have the court vision to be a consistent starter, but his speed, mid-range shot, and ball-handling will set him apart almost immediately.

So long Cat. Thanks for singlehandedly making this season watchable. And for being a 5-star who actually lives up to the billing, even if it took sometime to get there.
