Anything the NRA tried to say at this point would be drowned out by the rest of the media hoopla, but you can bet that they will point at this event in future arguments as an example of police militarization gone wrong. Besides, the Black Panthers have been advocating gun ownership to prevent police abuse of power for almost 50 years now. They were advocating citizens take up arms long before the NRA took up the torch.

I have two friends and activists who drove from NC to MO yesterday and are giving me information direct from Ferguson. They were people I met when I was with Occupy. One of the two is there in the role as a "street medic" to help mitigate the effects of tear gas etc.

If they were on the side of the protesters, i think they would be welcomed. There's been a decent handful of white people protesting in the midst of the protesters without issue.

There was a pro-wilson counter protest that even went off without any problems.

I am trying to get word on exactly what they witnessed, but they posted a picture of protesters at the church and at the very least got direct word from them. Apparently they primarily took 50/50 solution which is Maalox and water and is meant to flush eyes out from tear gas or things like pepper spray.

Ok full disclosure: They did not actually witness the raid. They were at a union hall when everyone there got word of it. They went over to the church and talked to protesters there and got word of what was taken.

SMC what they hate are white activists coming there and trying to direct or influence their fight (commonly referred to as being a "white savior"). My friends are not doing that. They are only there to be in the background and aid if things get out of hand again. They have told me the people are greatful for that.
