Why not take a friend of yours you'd otherwise like to hang out with and get her hooked up with a little family discount? Then you can split gas and have fun and not ffeel like you are wasting time and money.

oh, it's certainly not a matter of feeling like i'm wasting time and money to drive to greensboro and 1. see my aunt and 2. get my hair cut for free. really, the waste of time and money comes when i get my hair done in raleigh and i have to pay- $60 at new years even with a damn first-visit coupon! it's just difficult to find the time these days since i work until 5 and my aunt works until 7 and she tends to have a full schedule. guess that just means i'll be leaving work early one day soon

I found two different 2-piece bathing suits at different Ross stores for $15 and $11. They were really cute and actually fit. I hadn't bought a suit in a few years, so I was overdue.

Swimmers...what do you use to keep your hair healthy? I've been the sunbathing, occasional ocean swimmer, stand in the pool type. But this year with the help of a 10 yr old wanting me to swim and play in the pool daily I know I'm gonna need something more than my daily shampoo and conditioner.

my dad's father's day gift is complete!

now i just have to figure out what to do - like i wanted to go to a baseball game with the fam but the bull's are outta town so boooooo. i guess we can just do dinner. but, meh. that is so TYPICAL. i wanted to do something together. sigh. maybe i can think of something.

anyway he is from pittsburgh and always fed us these bbq ham sandwiches growing up. they're really good, but kinda weird. no one in the south eats them/had heard of them. he SAID they were a real thing but we always thought he was making it up. well a friend just moved back there and confirmed the place my dad used to get said sandwiches is still in existence. i told my dad and he was so happy and told me how the place actually invented the klondike bar, too. i mean...childhood nostalgia. you know how it is. so i ordered my dad some ham and bbq sauce from the place. and then 2 books:
this is about ham bbq, etc:

AND
a book on kennywood. about the history and the rise of the amusement park and stuff. kinda boring but my dad will like it - he used to go there as a kid:

ham:

sauce:

the present sounds whack to other people but its like so personalized. i was proud of myself i think my dad is going to love it. usually i just get something boring like a tie or giftcard or some manly tool. but this gift is like FOR my dad, not just any dad. i can't wait for next weekend now

i really want to do the sarong thing...but i couldn't find one of those either...

i even found a big scarf that would work as a short sarong but it was the wrong color...

woe is me

CRAP. i forgot about father's day. what to do!? i am broke as a joke. my dad likes to drink and watch tv. and read books about submarines and airplanes.
hmm...
a bottle of cheap liquor and a book from ed mckay's?? anything with a plane on the cover should do.
any other/better ideas?

sounds good to me! sometimes barnes and nobles and borders in the summer have clearance racks outside (or right in the entry way) and you can get PIMP looking coffee table books (like ones about ships with lotsa pictures or planes or whatever) for cheap

i did that once for my dad. i got him one about tall buildings. lol @ dads.

but if that fails. ed mckay is the bomb.

SAD! they totally have it at mine. and some other goody thing. i forgot what it was.

i mean its only what $7 at the most so maybe i'll just splurge and get one the next time i'm there lol. that way we can know once and for all

actually i think there might be a coupon for one on the goody website. i'm gonna check.

ok holy shit their website is crazy overwhelming. it might take awhile to see if coupons exist!

jackpot?

its mid thread but there are lots of videos posted...

it seems like you just put your hair in a ponytail with a hair tie then twist the tail part & take 2 spin pins and
"screw" them into your hair from the top and bottom

hm, seems easy enough

also found this.. https://goodysimplestyles.com/ but you have to want more than the spin pin

based on the thread i posted, girls seem to have better luck finding them at walgreens

you can check to see if your local store has them in stock!

http://www.walgreens.com/search/results.jsp?Ntt=goody+spin+pin

ok so I have a family reunion coming up and we have to take a picture and the theme is apparently white ( ) so I need to find a white dress that will be family appropriate. usually not a problem for most girls but my boobs tend to make everything look slutty somehow

so for around $50 where around raleigh could I find a white summer dress? I mean obviously I could try the big chains but I was jw if anyone knew of smaller boutiques that I could find something good in (like fabrik in cameron village). I'm not really knowledgeable about the boutiques around here

k thanks

Does anyone know of a place in the triangle that sells vintage inspired or pin up style clothing? I'm attending a rebel rods show in Winston Salem for Fourth of July and need a dress by then. Afraid that a Web site order would require alterations.

I like to go swim during my lunch break, but waiting 15 minutes for the sunscreen to soak in really takes a bite out of my time. I usually end up waiting 5-10 minutes and I think my sun protection is suffering. Does sunscreen exist with no wait time??

Also, is there any way to make a slightly too-big shoe fit better?

I bought a pair of pumps similar to these (not patent though) for wearing with my Navy uniform (there's a skirt option). I have wide feet and as usual, to fit the wide part of my foot I had to buy a pair that are a bit too long. Also I didn't anticipate that wearing hose makes your feet slippery. So I can barely walk b/c my heel keeps sliding out the back! I stuffed tissues in the toe with no success - my 2nd toe is dying from slamming against the front of the shoe while walking.

help me, TWW!!

"My feet are two different sizes so I always have a shoe that is a bit big. What do you recommend I do to fill the space in the shoe that is too big?

Layer Foot Petals cushions. Begin by placing Killer Kushionz inside of shoe and then add Tip Toes on top of Killer Kushionz. Finally place Heavenly Heelz along the back and sides of the shoe that is to big. This will help take up the extra room inside the shoe."

This will also make them pretty comfortable, too, I think. I also recommend Band Aid's product Blister Block if you foresee any possible discomfort.

I get those little slip-in's that go in the back of shoes. I get them at Walmart. Super cheap and they work great.

Okay I have way too much stuff. I'm hosting another swap party June 27th (Sunday) at 6:30 PM.

Shoes, clothes, purses, jewelry, decor, books, etc. Let me know if you want to be included on the evite.

nerdchick, about your sunscreen question...

10-15min of UNPROTECTED sun exposure per day is acceptable according to the experts

so if you're out in the sun before the "soak in" factor, you're probs ok

personally, i sunscreen up right before i get on my bike to ride and i am in the sun right away. if anyone will burn, its me and i have yet to burn
