I play a low stakes (25/50 cent) cash game about 5 nights a week... this is the crazy luck I had the last two nights....
Last night. I have pocket 5's. I call a $2.00 preflop bet along with two other players. Flop comes 4,4,7. Two of which are diamonds Original better bets $3.00. Other two fold, I call. Next card is a jack. He checks this time. That's when I knew that he was on a flush draw and is scared I already hit. (I'm winning at this point anyways with two pair. He had Q K of diamonds) anyways... I look at my cards right before the river just to see if one of my 5's was a diamond... sure enough it isn't. then my dream card comes up. The 5 of diamond. I check to him, he goes all in, I call. Yay.
Forward to tonight. (same story, even crazier)
I have a pocket 8's. I am the button and I am shuffling the second deck of cards. I decide the take the deck and cut it. And I told myself if I somehow magically cut it on the 8, another 8 would hit for me and I would be good. No joke, cut it in half and it showed me an 8 of spade.
Call a $2.00 raise preflop. Flop comes 4,4,10 (two spades) He bets $1.50, I call. Everyone else folds next card Jack. Same bet, same call. next card... THE 8 OF FUCKING SPADES!
I check my boat to him, he makes his "nut flush" and bets $3.00. I raise it to $8.00. He goes all in (another $15). I call. Same guy.. two nights in a row. He wasn't very happy.
The next hand I caught trip 7's and someone tried to bluff a straight to me to get me to fold. Eventually he goes all in. I call. Another $30. Cashed out at $80 in a 25 cent/50 cent game after only 2 hours.
The 8 of spade story tonight though... that was fucking crazy. 3/22/2007 1:51:46 AM |

For those of you who used to play with Turner... remember when we wouls stack a deck so whoever came to sit down would lose all their cash on the first hand to some ridiculous hand.... like when Jake lost with quad K's to quad A's, or when we set up David to lose with quads to a royal flush. That seriously never got old. 3/22/2007 8:57:07 AM |

I'm not saying there is anything about getting lucky on the river, that happens all the time. I'm saying two nights in a row, same guy... he hits his flush card that tripped me up giving me the boat. not to mention last night I really did cut the deck that i was shuffeling for the next hand right on the 8 of spade that hit. And to go along with what I was saying last page, this is a good example of "going broke" a way such that a worse hand had an oppurtunity to pay me off. This particular villain was nuts and probably wasn't going anywhere if I did raise the flop, but against many players I'm only getting action from hands that have me crushed. Therefore I like a call in this type of way ahead/way behind situation, I'm not really worried about letting him hit a card to beat me.

we just sold our first video poker [poker slots] contract this week
1,2,4 decks. all sorts of cool shit. i kinda got out of the virtual world after hitting up atlantic city and thinking about how quick it could be done. we had a touch-screen prototype on an old busted up NCR POS with custom software in 2 weeks
look for it in a casino near you
if anyone else has tinkered with online poker tables and had that crushed by the new laws (like us) and switched over to video poker and slots. you wouldnt believe how expensive it is to buy premade cards and wheels.
but you guys would love my pillhead wheel, just for old school
also after making a few 16 pic wheels with paylines, i will never put money in a slot machine again

^^ that depends.
In AC the slots payout like 90% and are an enormous ripoff.
In Vegas there are plenty of 97+% machines and there are a few 100% and 101% ones even where they use them as a lure to draw people into the casino.
Most video poker machines can be played profitably if you use the right strategy.
Now if you're just saying they're the worst thing in the casino because they are ridiculously boring, you are 10x more apt to get lung cancer in the area, and you look like a 90 year old grandmother then I completely agree with you. 3/24/2007 1:53:35 PM |
