Why all the hate for Freedom group?

"Internet Rumors About Cerberus, Freedom Group Are Patently False

Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus--the private equity firm that owns Freedom group, a holding company that in turn owns a number of firearms manufacturers, including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, and DPMS--was in some way tied to George Soros.

This rumor is completely false and baseless.

NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time. The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.

In reality, at no time has George Soros ever been a part of the ownership group of Freedom Group or Cerberus, and as a privately traded corporation, there is no possibility that he will be in the future.

This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet."

You have any problems running bulk federal through it?

Sort of unrelated but I have a SR-22 and put 2000 rounds of federal bulk through it with no problems. LGS was out of it last time so I bought two boxes of Winchester 525 and had a fail to feed on the second magazine and a fail to fire probably three magazines later. That gun loves Federal though.

^^ I ran a handful of the Federal 40 gr. target grade ammo though my S&W M&P 22 with one fail-to-ignite. I put more than 200 rounds of Winchester 36 gr. bulk ammo through it with one fail-to-feed due to a bullet that was canted in its case and caught on the lip of the feed ramp. I also had maybe 2 or 3 fail-to-ignites. Basically, it ran great and any problems I had I attribute to the ammo and not the gun.

The gun was shooting about 2" left at 8 yards out of the box, but the rear site is easily drifted with the allen wrench included with the gun. I haven't rechecked my site adjustment. By the time I convinced myself that the gun was shooting left and it wasn't my shitting technique, I was out of range time.

I wish the M&P 22 came with more than one magazine. Extras are a little hard to find. Fortunately, the 10-round magazines are the same as the 12 round magazines except that they include an easily removed spacer. It's seriously a 5 second conversion process.

Ah nice. I just bought a fullsize M&P Pro 9, and would like a matching M&P22 to go with it. Glad to see they have minimal problems with bulk ammo

What are [your] thoughts on the CZ75 with the manual safety vs. the BD model with the decocking lever? Just a range toy/potential HD gun, not carry.

I figure it'll just come down to personal preference, and I'm not sure if I have one since all I have is a revolver and I've only ever shot a semi-auto pistol once about four years ago.

The more things you have to manipulate to fire your gun means the more training you have to do with that gun so that you can use it effectively under stress. I personally think simpler is better. However, everyone has their personal preferences. Someone who has shot a lot of 1911s will probably much more comfortable with having to manipulate a safety than someone who shoots mostly Glocks where the safety is your finger. I have a friend who is a cop. He currently carries a Glock and he says that on draw he still tries to manipulate the safety that was on the Beretta 92 that he previously carried for years.

Quote :
"White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that President Obama will "evaluate" a new bill that would ban online ammunition sales in the wake of the shooting massacre in Aurora, Colo. That left 12 dead and dozens more injured.

During the daily press briefing, Mr. Earnest was asked whether Mr. Obama supports the measure, which aims to end sales of unlimited amounts of ammunition on the Internet and other mail orders. The bill also would force ammunition dealers to report large sales of bullets and other munitions to law enforcement authorities"

I doubt Obama really speaks on these issues prior to November... there may even be some back door talk to kill these bills. At least I hope there is.

he's already been talking about it:

that was last week, i think. seems to me he's hinting at re-instating the AWB.

Yes, but that's a bit different than the two proposed bills.

While that is likely speaking about the AWB in code, most Americans won't think of that/refuse to think of that. Additionally, too many people on the right/gun owners/gun supporters, also (for some stupid reason) support/agree with such talk. I can't tell you the number of gun owners I've heard agree with parts of the AWB (whether or not they know they're agreeing to it is another story - their voiced opinions were in line with the AWB).

Really though, anyone who hears that and agrees with it, believes it's a sincere statement, and that if acted upon, will reduce crime, is in denial or plain stupid. That speech was nothing but fear mongering.

My dad has an older marlin, runs great
he also has a NEW marlin that was made this year, also runs great. they fucked up the machines during the move, had to hire new tech, etc, when factories move, shit breaks. I heard all of the marlin horror stories, but the new marlin he brought home shoots and functions like a swiss watch.

Sumfoo1, You can actually probably beat that price. I bought 1000 of that same ammo at Fuquay Gun/Gold for like $329, and obviously didn't have to pay shipping or wait...

Call around, some of the local places have decent deals.

I had probably 10 FTF's out of that 1000... All good striker hits .

How much are 100-rd boxes of WWB going for at Wal-Mart these days (.45 ACP)?

I haven't had to buy any ammo in a while...I'm wondering if buying in bulk is even worth it.

I might be in for some 12" plates depending on any stands they have available; maybe some of the larger IPSC torsos. Can I get more info on stands or whatever their preferred mounting solutions? I'm looking for something like the portable targets from actiontarget.com

check out the website. they have some T-post mounts for sale that are nothing more than a couple pieces of angle iron with a couple holes. they look like they would work well. they also have some rebar mounting options. the mounts and such aren't included in the group buy, but they're listed on the website at the regular price

^^i don't load 9mm yet, but from what i read, it looks like you can load FMJ 9mm for around $0.15/rd and even less if you wanna shoot lead bullets. this assumes free brass, which, judging by what i've seen at the range i go to, is a good assumption.

i've got a grocery bag slap full of 9mm.

[Edited on August 1, 2012 at 2:12 PM. Reason : supposedly you're not supposed to shoot lead in the polygonal barrels (ie. glocks)]

reloading is a relaxing, enjoyable activity for me. saving money is just a secondary benefit. i probably don't actually save any money, but i do get to shoot a lot more.
