look, i'm not saying that it shouldn't raise eyebrows when guys with guaranteed minutes are transferring...especially if a guy like Abu is considering transferring. but i don't think it's completely fair to say that he "clearly has personality clashes" with some players. unless you mean that he and some players don't 100% see eye to eye on what a player's role on the team is/should be. but then again, that's probably the case everywhere. at some schools (like UNC, for example) players will put up with that because they are on a national contender. don't y'all think theo pinson believes he should be playing more than 18 mins/game?

I fondly remember Gotts elite eight appearance. UConn made like 45 three pointers in the first half with nary a defender in sight. That was some of the most atrocious defense I've ever seen played at that level.

The thing about those sweet 16s is that we beat teams who had less talent but great coaches who led them to play at a high level consistently all season to earn a high seed. While we were losing to shitty teams every few games of the season, we should have been playing that way all season. When you have a bad coach, eventually players will figure out how to play well for a game here and there but you will be extremely inconsistent.

If we played at that level all season, we would have certainly had a higher seed and would've been meeting those highly ranked teams later in the tournament and making a run wouldn't be considered as such a huge improvement. Those "amazing runs" were only amazing because of our poor performance all year. You can't give him credit for surpassing the shitty expectations that his bad coaching created in the first place.

While you guys were celebrating an improbable win, I was thinking, "its about time we showed up to play" and then after the big win, we are pretty much guaranteed to lose the following game because theres no one to refocus the team on the next opponent.

LSU- pretty much the same as us in terms of talent and disappointment
NOVA- similar to us in talent (perhaps they were better but not by a lot)
Louisville- prolly better than us with 2 stars (Pitino is so good that i can't figure out how talented they are)
First 4 team- inferior to us in talent
St Louis - infrerior to us in talent
Temple- inferior to us in talent
SDSU- inferior to us in talent
GTOWN- similar to us in talent (perhaps we were better but not by a lot)
Kansas- superior to us in talent

he would have provided some offense we were missing to close out games. Cat had to take the entire team on his back. but then again it boosted his NBA stock. at most with henderson we probably would have been a bubble team.

Gott needs to take notes from the UM coach Larranaga. he can recruit a few 4 stars and attract some solid transfers, mix in some non-ranked recruits, and be ranked all season, and make noise in the dance.

I've never been officially on "fire gott" because now is just not the right time to fire a coach. You couldn't want to fire him until this past season and with DSJ coming it there was hope for next year and i was giving him a pass on the awful year.

Things changed when half the team left yet again and now its pretty clear nothing good is going to happen. We just have to get through this season and can fire him at the end barring a miracle. I'll be rooting for him to turn it around but it would be delusional to expect anything different.

I like all the made up stories about the ridiculous strife. Opie leaving made sense... The Martin twins, really stupid on their part, but the reasoning makes sense. Abu, well that one is concerning... but it's also yet to have happened.

Then on the flip side of that is all the hate on the D. We played some horrible D this year, but we aren't KNOWN for being bad at D under Gott. That's not to say we've been consistency great, but we've had great games... and we've been notable on the defensive side of the ball (before this year). Some people just live to complain, and aren't happy any other way.
