From the scoop shit on the front page of packpride:

Quote :
" NC State is already heavily involved with the state's top hoops freshman. He's a local product and has been a fixture in the RBC Center this season."

anyone know who this is? and what school he plays for?

What's more important is if we have extended offers to Victor Davila and Ty Walker for 2008? Does Lowe know something we don't about his players? Is he expecting a few to leave or transfer? I count 13 scholarships already.

2008-2009 scholarship roster:
Ben McCauley Sr
Courtney Fells Sr
Farnold Degand Sr
Marques Johnson RSr
Brandon Costner RJr
Dennis Horner Jr
Trevor Ferguson RJr
Bartosz Lewandoski RSo
JJ Hickson So
Johnny Thomas So
Tracy Smith So
CJ Williams Fr
Julius Mays Fr

in that pre-season article that interviewed players and asked them their favorite nickname on the team....half of them responded with "Toast" for Bartoz. Nobody's trying to be cool. At least not me.

BarTOZ....TOAST....you figured it out yourself...its not like calling braxton "Cheese Doodle", and its not like I made it up myself, it was printed by the media.

But why don't they play "brown M&Ms" more?

I find it hard to believe he is going to make bartoz in to a game player, though. seems like adam simons part deux

The chance of everyone making it all the way to 08-09 is very slim. We still have one available scholarship for 07-08, even if Tracy Smith qualifies. The staff may know something that we don't.

if i had to guess, i'd guess that they're thinking between bartosz transferring, grant either trying to go pro or being deported, tracy smith not qualifying, jj hickson going pro, brandon costner going pro, cj williams or julius mays decommitting or anyone else transferring they'll have a spot open by then.

Costner wont go pro for awhile

he is still really really raw when it comes to inside offensive footwork
hes rebounding and three shot is amazing at this level, but he needs to stay and keep working with Sid

Ben Wallace said Sid was the reason he liked Detroit...if he can make Ben Wallace that good of an rebounder, imagine what he can do with Costner

I see Bart leaving, Grant going pro and Smith...thats debatable for sure whether he will qualify

JJ Hickson probably isn't one and done either. He's going to be a 2nd Cedric Simmons. Very very raw and will probably not tear it up as a freshman... but there's no doubt the kids' potential is through the roof (like Simmons).

I remember when we got Simmons and Brackman. I said Brackman would contribute early moreso than Simmons, but SImmons would later be our star. Well...same instance. Hickson is very, very, raw from what I've heard and seen. I'm afraid if everyone expects him to tear shit up as a freshman based on his 'top 10 recruit' ranking you'll all be dissapointed.... much like many of you were with Simmons (For the record, he is a little further along than Simmons... just has a lot of things to work on before being a major contributor in college....at least from what I've seen)

As far as these players we're recruiting, this is damage control. If you coach a team you always prepare for the worst. IMO, we're doing this just in case something happens. I think everything mentioned above is very legit, but the most likely to happen is Lewandowski transfers

i don't know, check out his ''Hickson has five star showing" video on rivals, http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=33281&Sport=2 ...that little spin move and fade away that he drops does not seem very raw, i never saw ced do that and i don't think ced has learned that yet.

Simmons was VERY VERY VERY VERY raw coming out of HS. He still is, which is why you don't see him getting many minutes in the league. He got by in HS by being able to just man handle anyone in his way. Ced never showed the ability to really step out and hit the jumper. Im sure he hit a few in his time here, but the only one that i can really remember is the one from the top of the key against Duke last year.

From what i've heard, JJ is one of the more polished senior big men for the 07 class. We'll see how he comes in and meshes with Costner and McCauley down low.

I really like what Hickinson said in one of the videos during a post game interview.

He said "Coach Lowe has won championships in both leagues and knows what it takes to be in the NBA. That's all I need."

It's good to hear that from a big time recruit. Hopefully there will be many more to come.

And Hickinson looks fucking ridiculous in all those tapes. I'm looking forward to the McCauley-C/PF , Hickinson-C/PF, and Costner-SF combination. I hope they'll all be in the starting lineup by sometime early in the season.

^It's Hickson but I forgive b/c it's a decent comment. I am excited about the fact that he and McCauley can split post playing time (C) and Costner can learn how to be a good PF.
